      Adley Rutschman (hand) returned to the Orioles’ starting lineup on Saturday.

      Advice: The 26-year-old backstop sat out Friday’s game due to soreness in his right hand, but he’s right back out there behind the dish to catch Cade Povich on Saturday night.       Ryan Mountcastle is not in the Orioles’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s showdown against the Rangers.

      Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 27-year-old slugger. Ryan O’Hearn will spell Mountcastle at first base, allowing Heston Kjerstad to function as the team’s designated hitter while Colton Cowser covers left field against Michael Lorenzen and the Rangers on Friday evening in Baltimore.     • Beginning to ramp up rehab
      Muncy (oblique) took swings off a tee, fielded groundballs and did some throwing Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: Muncy's progress from a Grade 1 right oblique strain has been slow to the extent that he was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 21. However, the third baseman appears to be beginning to ramp up, and the Associated Press reports that his next step will be to take live batting practice before potentially beginning a rehab assignment.     • Max Muncy (oblique) resumes swinging
      Max Muncy (oblique) progressed to taking swings off a tee earlier this week.

      Advice: Muncy isn’t eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until after the All-Star break in a couple weeks, but he’s starting to make some progress towards a second-half return. The veteran corner infielder’s recovery from a right oblique strain that he suffered back in mid-May has gone much slower than originally anticipated, and it’s certainly had a negative impact on the Dodgers’ overall offensive output.     • Power surge continues Friday
      Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 16-5 loss to the Yankees.

      Advice: His solo shot off Luke Weaver in the seventh inning wrapped up the scoring for the Blue Jays on the night and made the score 7-5, but the Toronto bullpen imploded late. Guerrero has multiple hits in five straight games and six of the last seven, batting .406 (13-for-32) over that latter stretch with four doubles, five homers, eight runs and 14 RBI.     • Triston McKenzie pulled in third against Royals
      Triston McKenzie gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Royals.

      Advice: McKenzie issued the first intentional walk of his career to Bobby Witt Jr. in the third, though it was one of those in which the pitcher got to a 3-0 count and then put him on. The Royals went on to score three times afterwards, though things were probably trending in that direction anyway. McKenzie’s velocity has climbed some since the start of the year, but his results have been dreadful lately; he’s pitched just 7 2/3 innings and given up 12 earned runs and 11 walks in his last three starts.     • Roughed up in loss
      McKenzie (3-5) took the loss Friday in Kansas City, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks over 2.1 innings with three strikeouts.

      Advice: The Cleveland right-hander closed out a tough month with this performance, failing to pitch past the third inning for the third consecutive start. Over five June starts, McKenzie posted a 9.33 ERA, 2.13 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB across 18.1 innings. The 26-year-old is currently scheduled to face the White Sox at home in his next outing.     • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with two hits, home run
      Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI against the Yankees on Friday.

      Advice: Guerrero has played well of late despite trade rumors about him swirling. The homer was his seventh of June when he had just five all season entering the month.       X-rays on Rutschman's right hand came back negative, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports, but the catcher is not in Friday's lineup against the Rangers.

      Advice: Rutschman's throwing hand was hit by a foul tip early in Thursday's game versus the Rangers, although he finished the contest and even homered. He's feeling better Friday and should be fine, but the Orioles have elected to give him a day of rest. James McCann will do the catching for Albert Suarez. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:22 pm
