  • Rangers option Joey Gallo back to Triple-A
Rangers optioned INF/OF Joey Gallo to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Gallo was with the club for just a couple of days as an extra bat, and he saw just one at-bat during his stay. He'll head back to Round Rock where he'll undoubtedly crush Triple-A pitching until he is needed once more. Rotoworld.com 38 minutes ago

  • Chase d'Arnaud scratched from Braves lineup
Chase d'Arnaud was scratched from the Braves starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: There is no injury involved, but d'Arnaud was involved in a minor car accident on the way to the ballpark on Saturday and the club decided to give him a day off after the ordeal. He should return to the lineup on Sunday. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:45 am
  • Cards designate Ruben Tejada for assignment
Cardinals designated INF Ruben Tejada for assignment.

Advice: Greg Garcia flashed enough in his brief callup that that Cardinals felt it would be more prudent to keep him on the roster as a reserve infielder instead of Tejada who was hitting just .176/.225/.235 in his 34 at-bats. He should be able to latch on elsewhere with little difficulty. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:06 am

Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Angels plan to designate Brendan Ryan for assignment on Saturday.

  • Yangervis Solarte homers twice in rout
Yangervis Solarte hit a pair of homers to knock in four runs against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: It's the second two-homer game of Solarte's career. The switch-hitter was batting cleanup tonight in his sixth game back from the disabled list. Still, it's probably not enough to make him of use in the typical mixed league. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm
  • Colin Moran gets first two knocks
Colin Moran collected his first two major league hits and an RBI against the Angels on Friday.

Advice: Moran's single in the ninth plated the Astros' only two runs of the game. He's 2-for-16 since being called up 11 days ago. The slow start has already resulted in him playing less than originally expected, but this could help some. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:07 pm
  • Nick Castellanos hits 10th homer
Nick Castellanos hit his 10th homer of the year as part of a 2-for-4 game against the A's on Friday.

Advice: Castellanos is already two-thirds of the way to his 2015 home run total in barely thirty percent as many plate appearances. As poor as his plate discipline in, it's still hard to see him maintaining this kind of production all year. He's been stellar so far, though. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:00 pm
  • Aaron Hill continues power surge against Reds
Aaron Hill continued his power surge against the Reds on Friday, blasting a pair of home runs in a 9-5 victory.

Advice: Hill registered the first and only three homer game of his career earlier in the month against this same Reds pitching staff. Hill tagged starter John Lamb for a solo homer that tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning, then replicated the feat in the fifth. Hill also singled in the contest, finishing the night 3-for-4 to raise his season slash up to .271/.340/.443 to go along with six homers and 19 RBI. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:52 pm

  • Arenado has RBI double vs. Giants
Nolan Arenado had an RBI double Friday against the Giants.

Advice: Arenado entered Friday’s action hitting just .178 (8-for-45) over his last 12 games. Hopefully getting back to Coors Field will get him rolling again. Despite the recent struggles, he’s still tied for the NL lead with 36 RBI. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:32 pm
  • Kang homers, plates three in rout of Rangers
Jung Ho Kang homered and drove home three runs on Friday as the Pirates routed the Rangers 9-1 in Texas.

Advice: Kang clobbered a three-run homer that capped off a five-run uprising in the fifth inning. It was one of four home runs that the Pirates would hit in the contest, with Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen and Gregory Polanco each leaving the yard as well. Kang finished the night 2-for-5 and is now hitting .308/.367/.731 with six homers and 17 RBI in his first 60 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:32 pm

  • Adrian Beltre goes deep in loss to Pirates
Adrian Beltre clubbed his eighth home run of the season in a losing effort against the Pirates on Friday.

Advice: Beltre also singled in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-4. His solo shot of Jonathon Niese in the sixth inning accounted for the Rangers' lone run in the ballgame. With the two-hit attack, Beltre is now hitting .269/.317/.462 with eight homers and 32 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:23 pm

Mark Saxon of ESPN reports that the Cardinals are expected to designate Ruben Tejada for assignment on Saturday.

Advice: The Cardinals are forced to make a roster move to reinstate Matt Carpenter from the paternity leave list, and it appears as though Tejada is the odd-man out. Tejada is hitting just .176/.225/.235 in 34 at-bats this season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:35 pm

  • Donaldson clubs two homers to beat Red Sox
Josh Donaldson blasted a pair of homers and drove in five runs on Friday, powering the Blue Jays to a 7-5 victory over the visiting Red Sox.

Advice: Donaldson got the scoring started in the first inning, swatting a solo homer off of Red Sox starter Joe Kelly. He gave them the lead again with an RBI double in the third inning and again in the fourth with an RBI single. After the Red Sox had tied the score at 5-5 in the top half of the eighth, Donaldson answered with an opposite-field two-run shot off of Koji Uehara to put the game away. He finished the night 4-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and five RBI and is now hitting .257/.353/.540 with 13 homers and 29 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:22 pm
  • Espinosa homers in second straight game
Danny Espinosa socked a solo homer in Friday’s loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Espinosa has now homered in back-to-back games. It’s nice to see him finally pick things up, but it’s likely just a matter of time before top prospect Trea Turner takes over at shortstop. Even with the power over the past two days, Espinosa is batting just .203/.299/.320 over 48 games. Fortunately, he has provided value with his defense. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:56 pm

Advice: Rendon now has six multi-hit games in his last 10. He has pulled his batting average up from .229 to .262 along the way. After stealing only one base over 80 games during his injury-plagued 20145, he’s already up to six stolen bases this year. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:55 pm

  • Franco (ankle) drives in two runs in return
Maikel Franco (ankle) drove in two runs in his return to the lineup Friday against the Cubs.

  • Villar keeps producing, Brewers best Braves
Jonathan Villar went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored to help the Brewers take out the Braves 6-2 on Thursday.

Advice: If he's not doing it with his legs, he's doing it with his stick, as evidenced by Thursday's solo dinger. The homer was his second of the season to give him 16 RBI, and he's got 21 runs scored through Thursday's game. More importantly, Villar has 15 steals to lead the National League, and his .295/.392/.416 line is all gravy as well. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:16 pm

  • Perez comes up with two-run triple vs. Braves
Hernan Perez had a pinch-hit, two-run triple Thursday against the Braves.

Advice: Perez made a two-run game into a four-run game with his triple in the ninth inning, his first three-bagger of the year. The 25-year-old has been used sparingly by Brewers manager Craig Counsell this season but has posted a .291/.339/.509 line with three home runs and five steals in 55 at-bats. Given the current state of the squad, perhaps it's time to give Perez some more run to see what he can do with regular playing time. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:10 pm

  • Valbuena homers in third straight against O's
Luis Valbuena hit a two-run home run in a win over the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was his third in as many games, as Valbuena apparently likes batting against Orioles pitching. Thursday's blast came against Kevin Gausman, one of three homers Gausman gave up to Astros hitters on the night. Valbuena's power display has more than doubled his home run total since the start of the series, as the 30-year-old now has five homers and 15 RBI to go with a .220/.303/.402 line. Danny Espinosa hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to lead the Nationals to a 2-1 win over the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: Espinosa's homer off Mike Leake broke a 1-1 tie and ended up being the difference. He finished 1-for-3 in the game. Despite Thursday's contribution, the 29-year-old is hitting just .201/.301/.302 in 47 games and appears to be keeping the seat warm for Trea Turner, who could be called up in a matter of weeks. He'll make questionable decisions at times -- such as getting thrown out at third base with nobody out, which he did on Wednesday -- but the 25-year-old has done far more good than bad in 2015. • Franco unconcerned by ankle sprain
Maikel Franco (ankle) said that he expects to play against the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Franco was forced out of Wednesday's showdown with the Tigers due to a right ankle sprain. He seemed unconcerned after the game and called the sprain "minor." Fantasy owners should check to make sure he is in the lineup on Friday, but early indications are that this should not be considered a serious injury. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 2:11 pm
  • Maikel Franco removed with right ankle sprain
Maikel Franco was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Tigers with a right ankle sprain.

Advice: Franco suffered the sprain in the top of the seventh inning, appearing to jam his foot on a slide into second base. He subsequently limped off the field. Matt Carpenter is out of the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday because his wife is about to have a baby.

Advice: It seemed odd that the Cards would rest their best left-handed hitter against Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta. Now we have a good reason for the absence. Mike Moustakas will have his bruised knee examined by team doctors on Thursday in Kansas City.

Advice: Moustakas has been held out of the Royals' starting lineup since banging his knee against Alex Gordon on Sunday afternoon in Chicago. • Valbuena hits two-run home run versus Orioles
Luis Valbuena hit a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.

Advice: Valbuena finished 2-for-4 in the game, with his two-run shot off Chris Tillman in the fifth inning giving the Astros a fleeting lead. The homer was just his third of the season after he broke out with 25 dingers last year. One thing he has carried over is his struggle to hit for average, as the 30-year-old is hitting a measly .207/.294/.347 in 39 games. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 10:01 pm

Rangers recalled INF/OF Joey Gallo from Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Gallo missed three weeks with a strained groin, but he went 5-for-16 with a homer and four RBI in four games since returning to action. Interestingly, he made a start at first base on Sunday, which could be an option with Mitch Moreland and Prince Fielder struggling. He hasn't played the outfield at all this season, but the Rangers figure to give him some looks there with Shin-Soo Choo and Drew Stubbs now both on the disabled list. • Solarte walks for walk-off in 11-inning win
Yangervis Solarte ended Saturday's 3-2, 11-inning win over the Dodgers by drawing a bases-loaded walk.

Advice: Yes, the classic walk-off walk. Dodgers reliever Chin-Hui Tsao had himself a rough one, walking three after allowing a lead-off single to Wil Meyers to open the bottom of the eleventh. Perhaps a reason for his nervousness around the strike zone: Melvin Upton Jr. almost ended the game with a would-be home run that died on the warning track with one out in the frame. Regardless, Solarte eventually drew the walk to end the game. He probably feels pretty great with this one. He hasn't played since early April, having been done in by a strained hamstring. Last season, the 28-year-old infielder slashed .270/.320/.428 with 33 doubles, four triples, 14 homers and 63 RBI over 526 at-bats. Those in deeper mixed- or NL-only formats, particularly those in need of infield help, should consider scooping Solarte off waivers if he is not already owned. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 11:13 pm
  • Kang's hand X-rays come back negative
X-rays on Jung Ho Kang's injured hand came back negative.

Advice: He left Saturday's game with left hand discomfort after getting thrown out at home plate. Kang wasn't getting any treatment on his hand after the game and seemed optimistic about his status. While we wouldn't expect to see him in the lineup Sunday, it doesn't appear that Kang will miss much time. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 8:05 pm

  • Hill reaches four times, scores twice in loss
Aaron Hill had a single, three walks, two runs scored and a stolen base Saturday against the Mets.

Advice: Hill was a thorn in the side of starter Jacob deGrom and the Mets bullpen all day, reaching base in all four plate appearances. The stolen base was his third of the season in four tries. Hill has enjoyed a small resurgence as a member of the Brewers this season, batting .252/.321/.390 with four homers, 17 RBI and 13 runs scored in 40 games. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 6:55 pm

  • Yangervis Solarte activated from 15-day DL
Padres activated 3B Yangervis Solarte from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: He missed almost six weeks with a strained hamstring. Solarte isn't starting against the Dodgers on Saturday but he'll be available off the bench. Manager Andy Green said he wants to keep Brett Wallace's bat in the lineup. With Wallace locked in at the hot corner, Solarte might start seeing time at second base. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 5:14 pm
  • Jung Ho Kang exits with left hand discomfort
Jung Ho Kang left Saturday's game against the Rockies with left hand discomfort.

Advice: He suffered the injury on a play at home plate. Kang didn't immediately come out of the game but was eventually replaced by David Freese in the sixth inning. He went 1-for-3 with a double before exiting. The Pirates are calling Kang day-to-day. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 4:37 pm

  • Josh Donaldson ejected from game Saturday
Josh Donaldson was ejected during the first inning of Saturday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Donaldson grounded out to shortstop and apparently said something to home plate umpire Toby Basner about the strike zone that he didn't appreciate. He'll catch the rest of this one from the clubhouse. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 11:16 am
  • Wilmer Flores to begin rehab on Tuesday
Wilmer Flores (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday.

Advice: Flores is expected to be activated from the disabled list as soon as he's eligible on Friday. He'll get a few games under his belt in the minor leagues to get his timing back before a return to a utility role with the Mets. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 10:23 am

  • Royals activate Mike Moustakas from 15-day DL
Royals activated 3B Mike Moustakas from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Moustakas looked good on his minor league rehab assignment and is ready to rejoin a Royals lineup that has desperately missed his bat. He has been sidelined since early in the month due to a small fracture in his left thumb. Cheslor Cuthbert, who had been filling in for the past few weeks, was optioned back to Triple-A. Look for Moustakas to be back in the lineup on Saturday. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 6:12 am

  • Slump buster? Donaldson homers vs. Twins
Josh Donaldson busted out of his slumber with a two-run homer against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: It was one of four home runs for the Blue Jays on the night. Donaldson came into Friday’s action batting just .182/.299/.258 this month. His two-run blast gave him his first home run and RBI since May 1, which is hard to believe. But we checked twice. Rotoworld.com Friday, 8:47 pm
  • Arenado slugs 14th homer in loss to Pirates
Nolan Arenado socked a solo homer in Friday’s loss to the Pirates.

Advice: It was the only offense of the night for Colorado. Arenado reached base in all four plate appearances, as he also had two singles and a walk. He’s tied for the major league lead with 14 homers and also has a stellar .314/.391/.635 batting line to go along with 34 RBI. He’s been everything fantasy owners were hoping for when they selected him in the first round this spring. And maybe even more. Rotoworld.com Friday, 7:16 pm
  • Jung Ho Kang not in Friday's lineup
Jung Ho Kang is not in the Pirates' lineup Friday.

Advice: He's getting a day off as the Pirates continue to ease him back into things. David Freese is at third base. Rotoworld.com Friday, 12:09 pm

  • Carpenter's three XBH, six RBI pace Cardinals
Matt Carpenter finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and six RBI as the Cardinals outlasted the Rockies 13-7 on Thursday.

Advice: Carpenter is usually the one scoring the runs atop the Cardinals' lineup, but he made his RBI opportunities count in this one. The third baseman had RBI doubles in the second and fourth innings, giving him 10 doubles on the year, and he put the cherry on top with a three-run homer in the eighth. Carpenter is now hitting .259/.387/.537 with nine homers, 32 RBI and 28 runs scored on the year. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:43 pm
  • Rendon enjoys three-hit night against Mets
Anthony Rendon went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored against the Mets on Thursday.

Advice: Rendon ripped a bases-loaded double in the third inning to plate two, part of a seven-run frame for the visitors. After a pedestrian April and a slow start to May, the third baseman is 13-for-32 (.406) in his last nine games. It leaves his overall line at .250/.337/.338 and climbing. • Joey Gallo returns from groin injury Thursday
Joey Gallo was activated from Triple-A Round Rock's disabled list on Thursday.

Advice: Gallo missed three weeks with a strained groin. The 22-year-old has always had a low contact rate but his power is off the charts. He got his feet wet with 36 games in Texas last season and should get another shot with the big club later this year. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 7:06 pm

  • Rendon drives in two as Nats rout Mets
Anthony Rendon finished 2-for-3 with two RBI in Wednesday night's rout of the Mets.

Advice: A badly-needed offensive outburst from Rendon, who entered the day with a .229/.314/.314 batting line. He drew two walks and hit two singles -- one of which scored both Jayson Werth and Bryce Harper for two runs in the top of the fifth. Rendon is now batting .237/.328/.321. • d'Arnaud gets on base three times in win
Chase d'Arnaud went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a stolen base in Wednesday's victory over the Pirates.

Advice: The 29-year-old infielder has found some success with the Braves, since being called up from Triple-A Gwinnett earlier this month. He's hitting .320/.393/.480 and stole his first base of the season. He remains an uninteresting utility bat for the Braves for now, but could become useful in NL-only leagues if he swipes a few more bags this month. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 7:05 pm
  • Solarte (hamstring) to begin rehab assignment
Yangervis Solarte (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

Advice: Solarte suffered a strained hamstring just a week into the season and has been on the shelf ever since. His rehab has been progressing, though, and he began playing in extended spring training games on May 14. Next up, the rehab assignment. Solarte could be activated as early as this weekend. If that doesn't come to pass, he will almost certainly be activated next week barring a medical setback. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 4:54 pm
  • Colin Moran earns first major league start
Colin Moran is starting at third and batting sixth for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: In 125 at-bats for Triple-A Fresno this season, Moran was slashing .288/.331/.416 with three home runs and 22 RBI. He has never hit double-digit home runs at any level of the minors. Those in deeper AL-only formats should feel free to take a speculative flier -- the 23-year-old should see playing time with the Astros -- but fantasy fireworks are probably going to be relatively limited. • Josh Donaldson out of Blue Jays' lineup Wed.
Josh Donaldson is out of the Blue Jays' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Rays.

Advice: Jimmy Paredes will start at third base and bat sixth against Tampa Bay right-hander Jake Odorizzi. It's just a day of rest for Donaldson, who managed to avoid a suspension when punishments were handed down Wednesday following Sunday's benches-clearing brawl with the Rangers. Jose Bautista is batting second on Wednesday. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 12:38 pm
  • Moustakas (thumb) goes 2-for-4 in rehab gm.
Mike Moustakas (thumb) went 2-for-4 in his rehab debut Wednesday with Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Advice: Moustakas will probably play in one more minor league rehab game before returning to the Royals' active roster this Saturday. The third baseman has been sidelined since early May due to a small fracture in his left thumb. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 12:01 pm
