  • Adam Rosales goes deep in win over Giants
Adam Rosales went 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk as the Padres came from behind to beat the Giants 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in San Diego.

Advice: Rosales tagged Giants starter Ty Blach for a solo shot in the third inning, pulling the Padres to within a run at 3-2. The lefty-mashing utility man has been on a tear as of late and is now slashing .232/.322/.502 with 13 long balls and 35 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 5:51 pm

  • Buster Posey delivers two-run single in loss
Buster Posey went 1-for-3 and delivered a two-run single as the Giants fell to the Padres in San Diego on Sunday.

Advice: His run-scoring knock off of Clayton Richard came during a three-run rally in the third inning that gave the Giants an early 3-1 lead. Unfortunately, that would be the extent of their offense in the contest. Posey has disappointed relative to expectations this season, slashing .288/.358/.434 with only 13 homers and 73 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 5:41 pm
  • Todd Frazier scores twice, steals two bases
Todd Frazier scored two runs and stole a pair of bases in Sunday's win over the Indians.

Advice: He also singled and drew a walk. Frazier is sporting a .226 batting average this season, but with 39 home runs, 96 RBI, 86 runs and 14 stolen bases, fantasy owners aren't going to complain. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:06 pm
  • Danny Valencia sitting out on Sunday
Danny Valencia is not in the Athletics' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It's a routine day off. Matt Olson is in right field Sunday. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:16 am
  • Eric Hosmer sitting out on Sunday
Eric Hosmer is not in the Royals' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It looks to simply be a rare day off for the first baseman. Whit Merrifield is filling in for Hosmer. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:35 am
  • Joe Mauer (quad) says he feels 'terrible'
Joe Mauer (quad) admitted Saturday that he's "been feeling terrible for a while."

Advice: Mauer has battled lingering pain in his right quad area for the last six weeks and has been in and out of the lineup of late. "Well, I feel terrible," Mauer said. "I’ve been feeling terrible for a while. But the season’s not over." The first baseman will be back in the lineup Sunday, but his playing time in the final week figures to continue to be curtailed. • Ruf has three hits, homer in win over Mets
Darin Ruf went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Mets.

Advice: Ruf swatted a three-run bomb in the fourth inning as the Phillies hung 10 runs on the Mets in the victory. It was Ruf's second homer in as many games after going his first 37 games without one. Ineffectiveness and the emergence of Tommy Joseph have relegated Ruf to a reserve role, and the 30-year-old will need a big spring to earn a spot on the 2017 roster. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 10:13 pm

  • Votto's 26th homer leads Reds past Brewers
Joey Votto went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and three walks as the Reds downed the Brewers 6-1 on Saturday.

Advice: Votto took Brewers starter Taylor Jungmann deep in the first inning for the two-run dong, his 26th of the season. The 33-year-old is hitting .320/.433/.533 with 89 RBI and 94 runs scored -- amazing after he hit .252 with an .832 OPS in the first half -- and he ranks among the league leaders in a number of offensive categories. It's a shame the Reds haven't been able to do more during the height of his brilliance. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 9:59 pm
  • Turner goes 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs
Justin Turner went 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's demolition of the Rockies.

Advice: He also walked twice and reached base in all his plate appearances. All three hits were singles, two of them drove in runs. He is batting .274 with 27 home runs and 89 RBI in 533 at-bats. The 31-year-old journeyman has been an extremely effective hitter since joining the Dodgers in 2014. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 9:46 pm
  • Freeman hits 32nd homer, drives in two
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Freeman had an RBI single in the first inning before launching his 32nd homer of the year in the sixth. The 32 home runs are a career best, as are his 95 runs scored and six steals. He probably won't touch the 109 RBI he collected in 2013 -- he's got 87 RBI now, with a handful of games left to go -- but there's no question it's been a tremendous year for the 27-year-old. • Dietrich launches seventh homer versus Braves
Derek Dietrich hit a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Braves.

Advice: Dietrich hit the two-run blast off Braves starter Aaron Blair in the first inning. He finished 1-for-4 in the game. Dietrich now has seven homers and 42 RBI in 122 games, batting a respectable .286/.381/.437 in that span. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 9:17 pm

  • Frazier swats 39th bomb in Saturday's win
Todd Frazier went 2-for-5 with a home run and scored twice in a win over the Indians on Saturday.

Advice: The solo longball in the sixth inning was his 39th round-tripper of the season. Frazier's .225 batting average is painful but he is good everywhere else. He has 96 RBI and 84 runs scored and has even stolen 12 bases. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 8:37 pm
  • Mancini launches third homer in four games
Trey Mancini hit his third home run in four games in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Mancini took D'backs starter Robbie Ray deep for a solo shot in the fourth inning. The 24-year-old has four hits in 11 at-bats since being brought up by the Orioles, but three of those have left the yard. He could be setting himself up to enter next spring as the favorite for the Orioles' designated hitter job with his hot finish. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 8:16 pm
  • Davis collects two hits, two RBI vs. D'backs
Chris Davis went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: The D'backs intentionally walked Adam Jones to get to Davis with the bases loaded in the fourth inning, and he made them pay by coming through with a two-run single. The multi-hit game was his first since September 6. Davis is hitting just .220/.331/.469 but has 38 homers, 84 RBI and 95 runs scored overall. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 8:12 pm
  • Yangervis Solarte returns after wife's death
Yangervis Solarte has rejoined the Padres.

Advice: He hasn't played since his wife passed away from cancer last weekend. Solarte has had a strong season for the Padres, hitting .284 with a career-high 15 HR and 68 RBI. Ryan Schimpf handed third base during his absence. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 3:34 pm
  • Hosmer clubs three-run homer to beat Tigers
Eric Hosmer dealt a blow to the Tigers playoff chances on Saturday, clubbing a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning, propelling the Royals to a 7-4 victory in Motown.

Advice: The Royals entered the inning trailing 4-2 and were down to their final strike before Paulo Orlando came through with a two-run double to tie the game. That set the stage for Hosmer's heroic blast off of Tigers' closer Francisco Rodriguez. It was Hosmer's lone hit in five at-bats on the afternoon. He's been a terrific source of run production this season, slashing .268/.329/.434 with 24 homers and 100 RBI. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 2:34 pm
  • Joe Mauer (quad) remains sidelined Saturday
Joe Mauer (quad) is not in the Twins' lineup Saturday against the Mariners.

Advice: Mauer is still battling right quad soreness. Saturday will mark his fifth straight absence. Kennys Vargas will draw another start at first base and bat fifth against M's lefty Ariel Miranda. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 1:12 pm
  • Cron has three hits, two RBI in win over HOU
C.J. Cron went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Friday’s 10-6 victory over the Astros.

Advice: Cron had two doubles and a single on the night. He knocked in a run with a double in the second inning and later plated the go-ahead run with a single off Ken Giles in the ninth. The 26-year-old got off to a hot start after returning from the disabled list last month, but he hasn’t been able to sustain it in September. This was his first multi-hit game since September 5. • Solarte (personal) would like to return
Yangervis Solarte (personal) would like to return this season, but Padres manager Andy Green said the infielder's situation remains "fluid."

Advice: Solarte's wife, Yuliett, died this past Saturday from complications related to cancer. She was only 31. Obviously the Padres will give Solarte all the time he needs. Rotoworld.com Friday, 7:04 am
  • Mauer (quad) might not play again until Sun.
Joe Mauer might not start again until Sunday due to ongoing soreness in his right quad.

Advice: Mauer hasn't started since last Saturday, although he had been slated to play Wednesday before that game was rained out. After a terrific August, Mauer has fallen off to .119/.245/.238 in September. Kennys Vargas has been filling in at first base. Rotoworld.com Friday, 6:45 am
  • Mancini belts three-run homer against Red Sox
Trey Mancini went 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run home run in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Mancini was the only Orioles hitter with an answer for David Price and company, collecting two of the team's six hits and notching the only two Orioles extra-base hits in the game. The three-run homer in the third inning came off David Price. It was the 24-year-old's second homer in three games since being promoted on September 18 after he hit 20 homers between Double-A and Triple-A this year. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:13 pm
  • Joe Mauer out of Minnesota lineup for Gm. 1
Joe Mauer is out of the Twins' starting lineup for Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader versus Detroit.

Advice: Kennys Vargas will start at first base and bat fifth against Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez. Twins manager Paul Molitor said he has noticed some "off-balance" swings from Mauer this week and might also sit him against Justin Verlander in the nightcap Thursday. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:35 am
  • Freeman goes 2-for-4 on Wednesday
Freddie Freeman extended his hitting streak to 25 games by going 2-for-4 in a win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Both hits were singles. The hitting streak is a career-long for Freeman. The first baseman had a rough start to the season but has put up monster stats in the second half. Overall he is batting .303/.398/.565 with 31 home runs, 83 RBI and 93 runs scored on a low scoring team. His prowess has gone largely unnoticed due to the dismal season Atlanta is having. • Adam Rosales homers, drives in four vs. ARI
Adam Rosales went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Funky little batting line for Rosales due to the fact that two of his four RBI came via sacrifice flies. His two-run home run in the sixth inning was his 11th of the season. The veteran infielder has homered in two of his last three games and is slashing .233/.323/.485 with 11 homers and 32 RBI over 202 at-bats for the season as a whole. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 11:42 pm

  • Danny Valencia strikes out twice in defeat
Danny Valencia went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's 10-inning loss to the Astros.

Advice: Valencia could not find a hit on the evening, a common theme for the A's. As a team, they managed just a trio of singles over 10 innings. For the season as a whole, Valencia is slashing .287/.348/.455 with 17 homers and 51 RBI over 442 at-bats. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 10:15 pm
  • Trey Mancini blasts first MLB home run
Trey Mancini launched his first major league home run in his first start in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Called up from the minors on Sunday, Mancini flied out in his first at-bat but then ended Eduardo Rodriguez's no-hit bit with two outs in the fifth inning with a solo blast to left-center field. The 24-year-old could see more starts in the designated hitter spot against left-handers. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 7:52 pm
  • Chris Davis batting second for O's on Tues.
Chris Davis will bat second Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: This will be his first time batting second this season. Davis is just 3-for-27 over the past week, so perhaps the change will do him some good. Mark Trumbo will bat cleanup against Eduardo Rodriguez on Tuesday while Jonathan Schoop is hitting fifth. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 12:45 pm
  • Freeman goes 4-for-5 to extend hitting streak
Freddie Freeman fell a triple shy of the cycle Monday, going 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in a win over the Mets.

Advice: The Braves were massive underdogs in this one in a Noah Syndergaard/Aaron Blair matchup, but Atlanta wound up pounding out 13 hits and scoring seven runs. Freeman had four of those base knocks, including his 31st home run. The first baseman now boasts a 23-game hitting streak and has reached base in 39 games in a row. Freeman's batting line is up to .302/.397/.566. Rotoworld.com Monday, 7:38 pm
  • Hosmer knocks in two runs vs. White Sox
Eric Hosmer went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored against the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: Hosmer had RBI singles in the fifth and sixth innings. He has improved his career-best RBI total to 97 for the year. The batting average has dropped off this season (.272 after Monday’s game), but he has made up with his increased run production for fantasy owners. Rotoworld.com Monday, 2:20 pm
  • Rosales clobbers 10th homer in loss Sunday

Advice: Dietrich started his first three games back from the disabled list Sept. 3-5, but this was just his third start in 13 days since. He's playing well enough to justify more at-bats; he's 9-for-24 with a homer, two doubles and three walks since coming back. Rotoworld.com Sep 18, 2:24 pm

  • Joey Votto reaches five times in victory
Joey Votto reached all five times he was up and homered Sunday in leading the Reds to a 7-4 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Votto went 4-for-4 with a double and a walk to go along with the homer. His average stands at a season-high .319 right now. It'd be his highest average in a season since he finished at .337 in 2012. Rotoworld.com Sep 18, 1:15 pm
  • Trey Mancini called up from Triple-A
Orioles purchased the contract of 1B Trey Mancini from Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Mancini, 24, batted .282/.357/.458 with 20 homers between Double- and Triple-A this season. He'll give the O's another right-handed bat with Mark Trumbo (back) banged up. Rotoworld.com Sep 18, 7:48 am
  • Valencia has three-run homer against Rangers
Danny Valencia went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in a win over the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: Valencia made his name crushing lefties, and Rangers southpaw Dario Alvarez learned that the hard way in the eighth inning when the 31-year-old took him deep with two runners on. Against all odds, Valencia has managed to weather the A's youth movement and a tussle with teammate Billy Butler -- which got Butler released -- and is performing well down the stretch. Valencia is hitting .289/.347/.458 with 17 homers, 51 RBI and 69 runs scored with a handful of games left to play. Rotoworld.com Sep 17, 9:23 pm
  • Freddie Freeman returns to Braves lineup
Freddie Freeman returned to the Braves starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: He was away from the club on Friday to be with his wife for the birth of their child. He's back in his customary third spot in the Braves lineup against left-hander Gio Gonzalez and the Nats on Saturday. Rotoworld.com Sep 17, 7:43 am
  • Buster Posey goes 3-for-4, homers
Buster Posey went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI as the Giants bested the Cardinals 8-2 on Friday.

Advice: Posey hasn't had many outbursts like this one this season, but he's still putting up very solid numbers; he's batting .294 and has 32 doubles to go along with his 13 homers. He's also sporting a 60/57 K/BB ratio. The Giants could use the power surge if it comes, but they can't complain either way. Rotoworld.com Sep 16, 11:11 pm
  • Chris Davis belts 38th homer as O's top Rays
Chris Davis belted his 38th home run of the season as the Orioles topped the Rays 5-4 on Friday evening in Baltimore.

Advice: His solo shot off of Chris Archer in the second inning pulled the O's to within two runs at 4-2. It was his lone hit in four at-bats on the night, and one of two homers that the O's hit in the contest joining teammate Pedro Alvarez. He'll never hit for a high average, but remains a tremendous source of power and run production, hitting .222/.337/.484 with 38 homers and 82 RBI. Rotoworld.com Sep 16, 7:21 pm
  • Mauer draws three walks Friday
Joe Mauer went 0-for-1 with three walks Friday against the Mets.

Advice: It was his third three-walk game of the season. We know, we know. That isn’t very exciting for fantasy owners. Mauer recently missed some time with some soreness in his quads, but he felt well enough to play first base on Friday under National League rules. Rotoworld.com Sep 16, 7:02 pm
  • Yangervis Solarte out due to family issue
Yangervis Solarte was scratched from the Padres lineup on Friday due to a family issue.

Advice: He left the club to go home and be with his family. There's no timetable for his return at the moment, but with the Padres long out of contention, he certainly won't be rushed. Alexi Amarista replaced him in Friday's lineup and could see extra run in his absence. Rotoworld.com Sep 16, 4:14 pm
