  • Flores (wrist) could be done for the year
ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports Wilmer Flores (wrist) may be done for the season.

Advice: He isn't close to swinging a bat and has already received two cortisone shots since going down with a bruised wrist two weeks ago. Flores could return if the Mets make a deep postseason run but it's a near certainty he won't be back for the final week of the regular season. Assuming that's the case, Flores will close out the 2016 campaign with 16 HR, 49 RBI and a .267 average across 307 at-bats. Rotoworld.com 17 minutes ago

  • Sandoval could return if 'the need arises'
Red Sox manager John Farrell said Pablo Sandoval (shoulder) could return this season "if the need arises."

Advice: Sandoval is well ahead of schedule in his recovery from shoulder surgery. He's made two appearances in the fall instructional league at DH and took batting practice with the Red Sox on Saturday. It's still a long shot but there's an outside chance Panda could make the postseason roster, particularly if something happens to Aaron Hill, Travis Shaw or Brock Holt over the next week. • Rangers resting most regulars on Saturday
Adrian Beltre, Rougned Odor and a host of other Rangers are getting the day off for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Jonathan Lucroy, Carlos Beltran, Ian Desmond and Mitch Moreland are taking a seat as well. The Rangesr have already clinched the division title in the American League West, the only thing left to play for is home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Expect to see their regulars sporadically receiving rest over the final week and a half. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:37 am

Nick Castellanos (hand) is scheduled to play in an instructional league game in Florida on Monday.

  • Nolan Arenado drills 40th homer
Nolan Arenado hit his 40th homer Friday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Arenado has 40 homers and 129 RBI right now after finishing with 42 homers and 130 RBI last year. Where he's grown as a player is in the walk department; he's taken 55 unintentional walks this year and finishing with just 21 in 2014. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:45 pm
  • Adrian Beltre hits 31st homer
Adrian Beltre reached 100 RBI by hitting his 31st homer Friday against the Rangers.

Advice: It's been like 2004 again for Beltre these last couple of months. He reached 30 homers for the first time since 2013 and 100 RBI for the first time since 2012. He didn't play well enough in the first half to justify MVP consideration, but he's been pretty awesome of late. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:16 pm
  • Escobar slugs game-tying homer vs. Astros
Yunel Escobar slugged a two-run homer and drew a walk in Friday’s win over the Astros.

Advice: After Cliff Pennington led off the top of the ninth inning with a single against Ken Giles, Escobar followed with a game-tying home run. The Angels would go on to plate six runs in the inning for the win. Escobar has hit safely in six straight games and is batting .310/.361/.400 with five homers and 38 RBI over 127 games this season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:07 pm
  • Jake Lamb drives in run in Friday's loss
Jake Lamb went 1-for-5 and drove home a run as the Diamondbacks fell to the Orioles in extra innings on Friday.

Advice: Lamb got the scoring started in the ballgame with an RBI double in the first inning. While his pace has fallen off a cliff in the second half, he's still having a nice season overall, slashing .248/.327/.513 with 28 long balls and 89 RBI. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm
  • Franco homers in loss to Mets
Maikel Franco went 2-for-4 with a long two-run homer Friday against the Mets.

Advice: After going without a homer in 27 games, Franco has now homered on back-to-back nights. While the 24-year-old has regressed from his impressive rookie season, he's showing some late life. He leads the Phillies with 24 homers and 84 RBI. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:14 pm
  • Garcia has three hits, go-ahead single in win
Adonis Garcia went 3-for-5 with a go-ahead RBI single in a 3-2 win over the Marlins.

Advice: The Braves trailed 2-0 early on, but they tied things up in the sixth inning before Garcia put them in front in the ninth. The 31-year-old has enjoyed a productive second half and is batting .274/.314/.413 with 14 homers and 63 RBI on the year. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:59 pm
  • Jose Ramirez plates four to lead Indians
Jose Ramirez homered and drove home four runs on Friday, powering the Indians to a 10-4 victory over the White Sox.

Advice: Ramirez tagged Miguel Gonzalez for a two-run homer in the third inning that knotted the game up at 2-2. He also added a two-run double in the sixth that increased the Tribe's advantage to 9-4. He finished the night 2-for-5 with three runs scored and is now slashing a robust .315/.367/.469 on the season with 11 homers and 75 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:52 pm

Daniel Murphy has been diagnosed with a strained left glute following an MRI.

Advice: Nationals manager Dusty Baker said that the ailment doesn't affect Murphy when he hits, but it's an issue when he runs. • Bregman (hamstring) ran on treadmill Thursday
Alex Bregman (hamstring) did some running on a treadmill Thursday.

Advice: It was at a very low intensity, but it was the first time he's done any running since suffering a right hamstring strain on September 14. Bregman said Thursday that he's "hoping to come back sooner rather than later and trying to do anything I can to help contribute," but the reality is that the Astros would probably have to make a deep playoff run for him to have a chance to return. • Franco homers, has four RBI in loss to Mets
Maikel Franco did everything he could to get the Phillies past the Mets on Thursday, finishing 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in the loss.

Advice: Franco muscled an Addison Reed pitch to the opposite field in the eighth inning, barely clearing the wall for a three-run shot that gave the Phillies a late lead. After the Mets came back in the ninth, Franco then drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the 11th. Of course, that run wouldn't hold up, either, but there's only so much one man can do. With Thursday's game, the 24-year-old is hitting .250/.310/.422 with 23 homers, 83 RBI and 59 runs scored in 143 games. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:53 pm
  • Hernandez reaches five times, scores thrice
Cesar Hernandez went 2-for-3 with three walks and three runs scored in Thursday's marathon loss to the Mets.

Advice: Hernandez chipped in a single and a triple in the 11-inning contest, and it was the second time this year that he's reached base five times in a game. The 26-year-old has a sneaky nine-game hitting streak going, during which he's 13-for-37 (.351) with a pair of triples and eight runs scored. The good stretch has his overall line up to .293/.367/.398 in 146 games. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:45 pm

  • Ramirez goes 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run
Jose Ramirez went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: He also worked a walk as he reached base in all four plate appearances. He is batting .315 with 10 homers, 79 runs, 71 RBI and 22 stolen bases in 143 games. He doesn't have a ton of power and at five feet, nine inches he isn't likely to develop too much. His ability to hit for average combines with his speed to produce a valuable fantasy third baseman. Nolan Arenado slugged a grand slam Wednesday in the Rockies' 11-1 rout of the Cardinals.

He also drew a walk and singled, finishing 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored in the big afternoon romp at Coors Field. Arenado is batting .294/.362/.573 with 39 home runs and an MLB-leading 128 RBI in 150 games this season. The 25-year-old third baseman is on his way to a second straight 130-plus RBI campaign. • Wilmer Flores (wrist) won't play on Thursday
Mets manager Terry Collins has ruled out Wilmer Flores (wrist) for Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: Collins deemed the worry-level surrounding Flores' wrist as a "DEFCON 4," so that is somewhat disconcerting. The team had hoped that the 25-year-old infielder would be able to return to the lineup against Phillies southpaw Adam Morgan on Thursday. Flores is currently sidelined by a left wrist injury suffered in a collision at home plate on September 10. Yunel Escobar finished 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a run scored Tuesday against the Rangers.

The three-hit game matched his hit output in his last eight contests, as he saw his average fall from .321 to .306 in that stretch. The 33-year-old is now hitting .309/.360/.395 through 124 games overall. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 9:24 pm
  • Adonis goes 3-for-5 with three-run home run
Adonis Garcia went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's victory over the Mets.

Advice: The Braves were clinging to a one-run lead until Garcia broke things open with a three-run shot off of reliever Jerry Blevins. Atlanta wound up hanging on for a one-run victory. • Bregman (hamstring) likely done for season
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said Monday that Alex Bregman's hamstring injury usually requires 4-6 weeks of recovery time.

Advice: Bregman just suffered the injury last Wednesday, so it's safe to say that we won't see him again during the regular season.
