Advice: Neither play went as an error, but they both could be considered mental errors. In the seventh, Davis stayed back on a grounder rather than charge it, allowing the runner to score from third and giving the Reds a 4-2 lead. In the ninth, with the score tied 4-4, Davis elected to let a grounder go down the line, figuring it would curl foul. It didn't, giving Brandon Phillips an RBI double. In Davis' defense, the ball really did seem likely to go foul and the Reds almost certainly would have scored the go-ahead run had he handled it. In truth, Davis' decision looked much worse than it was, but since it turned out so badly, it's more fuel for those who want him demoted.

"I think you have to give him a few days in a row before you evaluate to make sure that his back is healed and it doesn't come back. The last two days have been pretty good, so he's getting closer."

Wigginton doesn't draw many starts, and he doesn't do much with them when he does, slashing .194/.286/.226 with no homers or steals and one RBI through 31 at-bats. St. Louis doesn't often make mistakes, but the two-year, $5 million deal they gifted Wigginton in mid-December certainly qualifies.

Gomes finished with four RBI and now has nine RBI in 17 games this season to go along with a cool .951 OPS. He should start seeing a bit more regular playing time.

Advice: Teixeira reported feeling "good" on his personal Twitter feed afterward. The first baseman is currently aiming to be activated from the disabled list by May 31, but the Yankees are at the top of the American League East standings and could decide to play it safe by letting his minor league rehab assignment linger into early June. Teixeira is on his way back from a torn tendon sheath.

Advice: Cuddyer will fly to Arizona on Monday night and play in games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to go as soon as he's eligible on Friday. The 34-year-old has been sidelined since May 8 with a bulging disc in his neck.
