  • Miguel Sano will only play OF in emergency
Twins manager Paul Molitor said Friday that Miguel Sano will only play the outfield in an emergency.

Advice: The Twins' experiment with Sano in the outfield never made much sense and it appears it's finally come to an end. He'll be used in the designated hitter spot and some at third base. Max Kepler will be the club's primary right fielder. Today, 2:22 pm

  • Wright (back) unsure he'll return this season
David Wright (back) admitted Friday that he's unsure whether he'll make it back this season.

Advice: "I don't know," Wright said. "I really don't know." It's no surprise, of course, after Wright had surgery three weeks ago to repair a herniated disc in his neck. The Mets almost surely aren't counting on getting their third baseman back. Wilmer Flores is currently handling the hot corner, and Jose Reyes will arrive soon. Today, 2:19 pm

Yunel Escobar (knee) went through a full workout Friday and the hope is that he'll return to the lineup this weekend.

  • Yunel Escobar (knee) remains out of lineup
Yunel Escobar (knee) remained out of the Angels' lineup Friday.

Advice: He's now missed seven straight games with a bone bruise in his left knee. The Angels had been eyeing Friday as a possible return for the third baseman, so you've got to think there's a good chance he'll be placed on the disabled list at this point. Derek Wetmore of reports that Miguel Sano (hamstring) has completed his rehab assignment and is on his way back to Minnesota.

Advice: Sano played in both games of a doubleheader for Triple-A Rochester on Thursday and apparently came out of it feeling fine. It's unclear whether he'll be activated Friday or if the Twins might hold off until Saturday so he can have a day of rest after playing two games Thursday, but either way his return is coming. • D'Arnaud's bat, legs lead Braves past Marlins
Chase d'Arnaud went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in the Braves' 8-5 win over the Marlins on Thursday.

Advice: D'Arnaud scored the first run of the game for the Braves in the third inning, motoring around from first base on Freddie Freeman's triple, and he added RBI hits in the sixth and eighth innings. The 29-year-old, who has played five different positions for the Braves this year, is batting a respectable .276/.349/.366 in 42 games. He's not much to look at, but those in deep NL-only leagues may want to take notice. Yesterday, 10:14 pm

Danny Espinosa led the charge with two home runs and seven RBI as the Nationals routed the Reds 13-4 on Thursday.

Advice: Espinosa made his two hits count, cranking a grand slam off Reds starter Brandon Finnegan in the third inning before launching a three-run blast a frame later. It was a strong finish to what was an impressive month for the 29-year-old, as he closes June with nine homers, 21 RBI and 21 runs scored in the month. • Peralta has two hits, homer in loss to Royals
Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-4 with a home run in a loss to the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was Peralta's third in 20 games thus far this season. He's got 10 RBI and eight runs scored in those 20 games but is hitting just .232/.267/.415 after missing the first two months of the season following thumb surgery. Yesterday, 9:09 pm
  • Bryant hits league-leading 22nd home run
Kris Bryant hit his league-leading 22nd home run in Thursday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: Bryant hit the homer, a two-run blast, in the first inning off Mets starter Steven Matz. The homer caps a month of June in which he hit 11 home runs -- including his three-homer game earlier in the week -- with 23 RBI and 25 runs scored. The 24-year-old is hitting .279/.369/.564 with 60 RBI and 62 runs scored in all. Yesterday, 8:50 pm

  • Sano (hamstring) still on rehab for now
Miguel Sano (hamstring) will play both games of a doubleheader for Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

Advice: He'll play third base in one game and serve as the designated hitter in the other. Sano has hit a couple home runs while on his rehab assignment but has just three hits in 19 at-bats overall. The Twins would like to see him look a bit better at the plate before activating him. "He’s hit a couple of homers. That’s been about the extent of his offensive output, which isn’t bad," manager Paul Molitor said. "I just think you look for signs that … his at-bats are normal. Advice: Davidson has had a nice year for Charlotte, batting .268/.349/.444 with 10 homers and 46 RBI over 326 plate appearances. The 25-year-old figures to see some playing time in the designated hitter spot while Melky Cabrera (wrist) is out, as Avisail Garcia is needed for outfield duty. Given Garcia's struggles, it's not out of the question that he could stick around a while if he hits. That's probably not likely, though, as Davidson hit around .200 at Triple-A from 2014-15. • Villar get three hits to raise AVG to .300
Jonathan Villar rapped three hits in four at-bats, raising his batting average to an even .300 on the season.

Advice: Villar has come out of nowhere to generate significant fantasy value this year. Most of that value comes from his 26 stolen bases and high batting average. The steals have always been a strength and should stay that way. The batting average is going to fall. His .397 BABIP is unsustainable, so enjoy the high AVG while it lasts. Wednesday, 9:17 pm
  • Frazier hits 22nd home run as White Sox win
Todd Frazier moved into a tie for the major league lead with 22 home runs on Wednesday night.

Advice: Frazier has really struggled to hit for average, last year's Home Run Derby champ is sitting on a .202/.301/.457 slash line. Much of that is due to an unlucky .188 BABIP that is nearly a hundred points below his career norm. Frazier hit 35 longballs last year and is on pass to surpass that this year. The batting average should slowly rise as the season progresses. Wednesday, 8:45 pm
  • Nunez nets three hits and a home run on Wed.
Eduardo Nunez went 3-for-5 with a home run in the Twins' loss on Wednesday.

For the season, Lamb is slashing a strong .286/.366/.584 with 18 doubles, 16 homers and 52 RBI over 255 at-bats. The 25-year-old third baseman is plenty deserving of All-Star consideration. Both came in the third inning, with Socrates Brito and Lamb each socking two-run home runs. For his part, Lamb has now homered four times in his last 10 games. He's hit to a strong .279/.360/.563 triple-slash with 17 doubles, 15 homers and 47 RBI over 240 at-bats. A trip to the All-Star Game is by no means a guarantee, but his numbers make him worthy of consideration at the very least. Thursday, 9:45 pm

  • La Stella (hamstring) close to beginning rehab
Tommy La Stella (hamstring) could begin a minor league rehab assignment as early as Monday.

Advice: La Stella was placed on the disabled list two weeks ago with a strained hamstring. He's made steady progress and now it looks like La Stella could be back in the big leagues by the end of the month. He's played reasonably well in a utility role this year, hitting .291 while making starts at both second and third base. Thursday, 1:44 pm

  • Eduardo Nunez getting a breather Thursday
Eduardo Nunez is getting the day off Thursday.

Advice: Eduardo Escobar will start at shortstop and bat second versus Phillies right-hander Jerad Eickhoff. Nunez has run into some natural regression over the last few weeks, but he still boasts a .313/.345/.472 season slash line with nine home runs and 17 RBI in 62 total games. Thursday, 8:25 am

  • Todd Frazier crushes 20th homer in victory
Todd Frazier crushed his 20th home run of the season on Tuesday, powering the White Sox to a 3-1 victory over the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: His solo shot off of Clay Buchholz in the fourth inning increased the White Sox advantage to 3-1 and wound up being the extent of the offense in the ballgame. He finished the day 1-for-3 plus a walk, raising his season slash to .200/.304/.455 with the aforementioned 20 bombs and 45 RBI. Tuesday, 7:46 pm
  • Four score: Uribe homers in fourth straight
Juan Uribe hit a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Rays.

Advice: Uribe has now somehow homered in four straight games after hitting just two in his first 48 contests. The veteran third baseman is still batting just .236/.288/.385 with those six homers and 20 RBI on the year. Tuesday, 6:58 pm

  • Sano (hamstring) to begin rehab games Fri.
Miguel Sano (hamstring) expects to begin a rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Sano has been on the disabled list since June 1 because of a left hamstring strain. "He's hungry to get out and play," Twins manager Paul Molitor said Tuesday. "I think between the diagnosis and our concern about making sure this is something that doesn't get repeated, we're proceeding cautiously." Look for him to spend about 4-5 days at Rochester before returning to the Twins' active roster. Tuesday, 6:05 pm

  • Justin Turner hits 10th homer
Justin Turner went 2-for-4 and hit his 10th homer against the Nationals on Monday.

Advice: Turner has raised his OPS a full hundred points, from .668 to .768, while collecting five homers over the last week. It's hard to imagine he's still unowned in any mixed leagues now. Monday, 10:13 pm
