    • Reserve outfielder Logan Schafer has posted a .455 OPS for the Brewers this season.
Advice: Although Shafer at times looks like a high-schooler at the dish -- slashing .182/.250/.205 -- he's actually registered a positive WAR, due to the three runs he's estimated to have saved in the field, per Baseball Reference. That's good enough to keep a roster spot in the majors, of course, but glove-only subs will have to wait until fantasy baseball evolves to include advanced defensive metrics to have any value even in the deepest of leagues.

    • Angel Pagan went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in Monday's 8-0 victory against the Nationals.
Advice: Pagan left Sunday's game with flu-like symptoms and was a game-time decision against Washington. He showed no ill-effects on the field, smacking an RBI double in the fifth against reliever Craig Stammen and adding a two-run single off Henry Rodriguez in the seventh. Despite the nice effort, Pagan is batting just .218/.279/.400 in May.

    • Angel Pagan left Sunday's game with flu-like symptoms.
Advice: Pagan was taken out of the game in the fifth inning and replaced by Andres Torres. He won't require an extended absence and could return to the Giants' lineup Monday.

    • Starling Marte is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Cubs.
Advice: He's just getting the day off. Jose Tabata will make the start in left field while Garret Jones plays right. Gaby Sanchez is at first base.

    • Ty Wigginton went 0-for-2 with a walk in Monday's loss to the Padres.
Advice: He was also caught stealing. Wigginton doesn't draw many starts, and he doesn't do much with them when he does, slashing .194/.286/.226 with no homers or steals and one RBI through 31 at-bats. St. Louis doesn't often make mistakes, but the two-year, $5 million deal they gifted Wigginton in mid-December certainly qualifies.

    • Nationals optioned OF Eury Perez to Triple-A Syracuse.
Advice: Perez was sent down so that the Nationals could add some bullpen help. The 22-year-old speedster went 0-for-5 in five games during his brief stint with the big club.

    • Andres Torres went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's win against Washington.
Advice: Prior to the evening, Torres hadn't collected a hit since May 8. The 35-year-old backup outfielder is batting just .247/.282/.346 over 81 at-bats this season.

    • Logan Morrison (knee) went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles Monday in his first rehab game with High-A Jupiter.
Advice: Morrison, who is coming back from knee surgery, served as the designated hitter. The 25-year-old is permitted to spend 20 days on his rehab assignment and will likely need most of it to shake the rust and get comfortable. However, assuming all goes well, he should join the Marlins' lineup in early June.

    • Logan Morrison (knee) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Monday.
Advice: Morrison has been playing in extended spring training games lately and hasn't had any setbacks with his surgically-repaired knee. With his 20-day rehab clock started on Monday, he'll be activated no later than early June as long as he doesn't have a setback.

    • Angels sent OF Scott Cousins outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

    • Angels designated OF Scott Cousins for assignment.
Advice: The Angels claimed Chris Nelson off waivers, so it's just a move to open a spot on the 40-man roster. Cousins should go through waivers unclaimed and remain in the organization.

    • Andrew McCutchen (knee) is back in Tuesday's lineup against the Cubs.

    • Andrew McCutchen is day-to-day with right knee soreness.
Advice: McCutchen was injured sliding into home Thursday, but it's not a major concern and he isn't dealing with any structural damage. The Pirates should update his status on Monday.

    • Chris Denorfia went 3-for-4 with a steal and an RBI versus the Cardinals on Monday.
Advice: Certainly one of the game's most unheralded players, Denorfia keeps producing no matter which outfield position the Padres may ask him to play on a given night. The 32-year-old is batting .301/.352/.406 with five steals (and no pickoffs), two homers, 14 RBI and 19 runs and 133 at-bats. He's given NL-only owners everything they could have hoped for.

    • Seth Smith went 2-for-4 with a homer, two walks and three runs scored versus the Rangers on Monday.
Advice: The A's are hoping Smith's slump is over. His OPS dropped from 1.072 on April 23 to .933 on April 30 to .755 on May 17, but he's now gone 4-for-8 in his last two games. Of course, it was in late April and early May that the A's really needed him. Now that Yoenis Cespedes, Coco Crisp and Chris Young are healthy again, Smith isn't so important to the attack anymore.

    • Shin-Soo Choo is in Monday's lineup against the Mets.
Advice: Choo wasn't in the original lineup, but that's only because Reds manager Dusty Baker thought that Jon Niese was pitching. However, he's back in there since Shaun Marcum is pitching for New York. Look for Choo to get the day off Tuesday.

    • Adam Dunn hit a three-run homer off Jon Lester in the White Sox's victory Monday.
Advice: The home run was his second off a lefty this year. He hit 15 off southpaws last season after going without a single homer off a left-hander in 2011. Overall, Dunn has 11 homers this year. He's batting .211 with 13 RBI in 16 games this month after coming in at .148 with 12 RBI in 24 games in April.

    • Adam Dunn (back) is back in the White Sox' lineup Sunday.
Advice: Dunn left Saturday's game with back spasms, but he's feeling a lot better a day later. The veteran is batting .421/.450/1.158 with four homers and 10 RBI over his last five games.

    • Adam Dunn left Saturday's game against the Angels due to back spasms.
Advice: Jeff Keppinger hit for the first baseman in the fifth inning. Spasms are generally a day-to-day thing, so we'll have to see how Dunn is feeling Sunday before knowing if he'll have to miss some games. It's unfortunate timing, too, as Dunn has been heating up at the plate.

The 28-year-old went 2-for-6 in his first stint with the big club and will function as a backup first baseman and right-handed bat off the bench.
