    • Dan Straily was tagged for six runs and two homers in 4 2/3 innings by the Rangers on Monday.
Advice: Straily had turned in a nice run of outings coming into this one -- he went six straight starts without allowing a homer -- so an odd night in Arlington isn't such a bad sign. He'll have a friendlier matchup in Seattle next time out.

    • Dan Straily yielded two runs and three hits in 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Yankees on Wednesday.
Advice: The A's improved to 8-2 with Straily on the mound this year, though Straily has gotten credit for just half of those victories. He's now gone six straight starts without allowing a homer, which qualifies as a big surprise from a guy who allowed 11 bombs in 39 1/3 innings last year. He will start serving up homers again, but he should remain a quality AL-only starter and a decent option as a spot starter in shallow mixed leagues.

    • Matt Harvey took a no-hitter into the seventh before giving up three runs in seven-plus innings Tuesday in a victory over the Braves.
Advice: Jason Heyward's infield single ended the no-hit bid; Harvey actually had a play on him, but he didn't think he could make the tag after grabbing the ball towards the first base line and decided to flip to first, which happened to be vacant. Harvey got through that inning scoreless anyway, but the eighth was a different story. He loaded the bases with no outs and then got pulled. After he left, all three runners came around to score. The Braves' official scorer made an egregious call on what should have been ruled an error on David Wright, or he would have only allowed one earned run. It took some of the shine of a dominant effort in which Harvey struck out 13. Still, he did pick up his first win since May 17 and his second since April 19.

    • Matt Harvey suffered his first loss of the season Thursday after giving up one run in seven innings against the Cardinals.
Advice: Harvey was hardly deserving of the loss, but he received little support from his offense with Adam Wainwright on the hill for St. Louis. He allowed just five hits and one walk on the day while striking out seven. While he took the loss, his ERA actually went down from 2.10 to 2.04. He'll hope for better luck next time out against the Braves.

    • Yankees recalled RHP Adam Warren from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Advice: He'll replace Mark Teixeira on the active roster. Warren owns a 3.12 ERA and 27/9 K/BB ratio over 34 2/3 innings of work with the Bombers this season and will operate in middle relief.

    • Yankees optioned RHP Adam Warren to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Advice: Warren gets the unfortunate demotion after hurling six innings of scoreless relief in Thursday's 18-inning loss to the Athletics. He posted a 3.12 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 34 2/3 innings on the season, and will surely be back with the team at some point this summer.

    • Brandon Barnes went 3-for-5 with a couple of steals against the White Sox on Monday.
Advice: Justin Maxwell is expected back in Houston's lineup on Tuesday, but Barnes should remain the team's center fielder, with Maxwell primarily playing right. That doesn't give him much fantasy value -- he's been struggling offensively since his nice April -- but he's an acceptable fifth outfielder in AL-only leagues.

    • Mike Carp (hamstring) is expected to be in the starting lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rays.
Advice: Carp left Sunday's game with right hamstring tightness, but it's not a major concern. The 26-year-old is hitting .324 with eight home runs and 25 RBI in 105 at-bats this season.

    • Mike Carp left Sunday's game with right hamstring tightness.
Advice: Carp injured his hamstring while on the basepaths in the seventh inning and had to be removed from the game. He finished 1-for-2 with a double before exiting. Red Sox manager John Farrell said he expects Carp to be available Tuesday.

    • Mike Carp hit his eighth home run of the season, a two-run shot, to help the Red Sox beat the Orioles on Saturday.
Advice: Carp was supposed to be a part-time player, but he's forcing the hand of Red Sox manager John Farrell with his play. The first baseman is hitting .320/.372/.680 with eight homers in 103 at-bats this year. He won't continue to hit at such a clip, but it's worth riding while he's hit in deeper mixed leagues.

    • John Buck hit his first homer since May 24 and just his second since May 3 in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Braves.

    • John Buck went 2-for-4 with a double against the Cardinals on Thursday.

    • Patrick Corbin hurled eight innings of two-run ball in a no-decision against the Marlins on Monday.
Advice: He gave up just two hits, striking out seven and walking one. Corbin was outstanding outside of a two-run mistake Giancarlo Stanton deposited into the left-field seats in the seventh. Corbin remains a perfect 9-0, to go with an outstanding 2.28 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, but Monday marked the first time Arizona has lost one of his starts. Advice: The wait is over, as Wheeler is slated to make his long-awaited major league debut in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Braves. The Mets will option Wheeler back to the minors after Tuesday's start, but it's merely a procedural move, as he will function as the 26th man for the doubleheader and will be eligible to return for his next scheduled start next Tuesday against the White Sox. One of the top pitching prospects in the game, Wheeler posted a 3.93 ERA and 73/27 K/BB ratio in 68 2/3 innings across 13 starts this season in Triple-A.
