  • Gregerson grabs third save in win vs Mariners
Luke Gregerson picked up his third save of the season, closing out the Astros' 7-5 win over the Mariners on Monday.

Advice: Gregerson brought the tying run to the plate after issuing a two-out walk to Kyle Seager, but he got Seth Smith to strike out swinging to end the ballgame. Gregerson remains unscored upon while converting all three save opportunities with a 7/1 K/BB ratio in seven innings. Rotoworld.com

  • Iwakuma mediocre again in a no-decision
Hisashi Iwakuma turned in his third consecutive mediocre start, giving up four runs in 5 1/3 innings in Monday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: Iwakuma has been rather home run prone to start the year. He allowed two more on Monday night, giving him five in 16 1/3 innings to start the season. Overall, he gave up five hits, walked none, and struck out three. Iwakuma owns a 6.61 ERA and he has a good shot at lowering it as his next start comes against the Twins at home over the weekend. • Wojciechowski lasts 4 innings in no-decision
Asher Wojciechowski got a no-decision in Monday's win against the Mariners, yielding four runs in four innings.

Advice: The right-hander allowed a bunch of base runners, as the Mariners racked up eight hits and drew two walks. Wojciechowski struck out six on the evening. Getting through the Mariners' tough lineup without allowing any home runs is an achievement at least. He'll get the Athletics on Oakland in his next start. Rotoworld.com

  • Rasmus homers as Astros top the Mariners
Colby Rasmus went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's win against the Mariners.

Advice: Rasmus broke a 2-2 tie with a fifth-inning home run off of Hisashi Iwakuma. As usual, he hasn't done much in the average or on-base percentage departments, but has hit for good power. Rasmus has a .200/.273/.500 with two home runs, a double, and a triple in 33 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com

  • Valbuena powers Astros with a pair of homers
Luis Valbuena hit a pair of solo home runs and lifted a sacrifice fly to help the Astros beat the Mariners on Monday.

Advice: Valbuena hit his first homer in the first inning off of Hisashi Iwakuma and his second in the eighth inning against Danny Farquhar. Valbuena, pushed out of the picture with the Cubs by the impending arrival of Kris Bryant, has been a nice find for the Astros. He has five home runs, seven RBI, and a .244/.304/.634 slash line in 46 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com

  • Shoemaker struggles again in a loss to A's
Matt Shoemaker struggled on Monday, allowing five runs in three innings as the Angels lost 6-3 to the Athletics.

Advice: Shoemaker allowed seven hits -- including home runs to Stephen Vogt and Marcus Semien -- while walking three and striking out two. The right-hander started the fourth inning but was promptly replaced after issuing a leadoff home run to Semien. Shoemaker owns a 6.46 ERA, which he'll try to lower in a weekend home start against the Rangers next. Rotoworld.com

  • Semien homers as Athletics beat the Angels
Marcus Semien went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a win over the Angels.

Advice: Semien went yard off of Matt Shoemaker in the fourth inning to boost the Athletics' lead to 5-3. The shortstop had been in a bit of a funk, going just 2-for-17 in his previous five games entering Monday. Rotoworld.com

  • Clippard escapes trouble for his first save
Tyler Clippard got his first save of the season, but had to escape some ninth-inning trouble to help the Athletics top the Angels on Monday.

Advice: Protecting a three-run lead, Clippard issued a leadoff walk to Erick Aybar, then walked Johnny Giavotella with two outs. He was able to get Kole Calhoun to line out to left field to end the game. It's only the second save of the year for the Athletics as they have massively outscored their opponents in their seven wins. Clippard will continue to get the ball in save opportunities when they present themselves. Rotoworld.com

  • Vogt powers A's to win with a 3-run homer
Stephen Vogt walked and slugged a three-run home run in four at-bats as the Athletics won against the Angels on Monday.

Advice: Vogt put the A's back on top 4-2 with his three-run home run off of Matt Shoemaker in the third inning. The catcher has been terrific to start the year, hitting .366/.435/.780 with four home runs and 12 RBI to begin the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Dickerson nursing 'mild' plantar fasciitis
Corey Dickerson had to leave Monday's game versus the Padres due to what Rockies manager Walt Weiss referred to as "mild" plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Advice: That Weiss is calling the ailment mild suggests that they'll try to avoid putting Dickerson on the disabled list for the time being. It's definitely and injury that can be nagging, though, so fantasy owners should have a contingency plan in place. Dickerson is batting .286/.314/.510 with two homers and 10 RBI this season. Drew Stubbs would stand to gain the extra playing time while Dickerson is out. Rotoworld.com

  • Alonso plates three runs in rout of Rockies
Yonder Alonso plated three runs in a 2-for-4 effort as the Padres ran roughshod over the Rockies 14-3 on Monday.

Advice: Alonso singled in two runs in the first inning and added a sacrifice fly in the second. The first baseman entered the season as one of the weaker-hitting players at his position but has been on fire in his first 52 plate appearances, carrying a .364/.453/.477 triple-slash line with one home run and seven RBI. • Despaigne superb again as Padres top Rockies
Odrisamer Despaigne picked up his second win of the season against the Rockies on Monday, limiting them to two runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Advice: Both runs scored in the fourth inning, when the Rockies enjoyed a pair of RBI singles, but they were too far behind for it to matter at that point. Despaigne gave up six hits and walked two while striking out five on the night. The right-hander has been excellent in three starts, owning a 1.47 ERA with a 0.34 WHIP and a 9/4 K/BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings. Despaigne will have to work against a tough Dodgers lineup at home in his next start. Rotoworld.com

  • Report: Cubs to promote top prospect Russell
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Cubs plan to call up infield prospect Addison Russell.

Advice: Russell has played just five games at second base, but the Cubs have apparently seen enough that they think he's ready to help at the position in the majors. It certainly wouldn't be hard for him to represent an upgrade, as journeyman Jonathan Herrera has been seeing most of the playing time there of late. Russell is just 21, but he's a career .301/.377/.520 hitter so far in the minors and the consensus among scouts is that his bat his major league-ready. He needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues. • Norris doubles twice, scores 3 times in win
Derek Norris doubled twice and singled in five at-bats in Monday's trampling of the Rockies.

Advice: Norris scored all three times he was on base and even knocked in a run with a double in the fifth inning. Most of the offense Norris has shown so far has been in the form of singles, but he still boasts a productive .314/.340/.412 triple-slash line in 51 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com

  • Kemp knocks in 4 runs as Padres rout Rockies
Matt Kemp had a big night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a two-run double and a pair of RBI singles in Monday's win against the Rockies.

Advice: Kemp started the onslaught of runs with a two-run double, sparking a five-run first inning. He added RBI singles in the second and fifth innings as well as the Padres went on to score 14 runs. Kemp is making quite an impression with his new team, batting .368/.393/.561 with 13 RBI in 61 plate appearances to begin the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Addison Russell playing some 2B at Triple-A
Cubs shortstop prospect Addison Russell has started at second base in his last five games for Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: It's big news, obviously, since that's the position Russell probably has the best chance to crack at the major league level at the moment. "Being a little bit more proactive regarding prepping him for a need that might be open here," manager Joe Maddon said Monday. Russell is hitting .297/.308/.432 with one homer in the early going for Iowa and could potentially challenge for a promotion before long. Rotoworld.com

  • Matt Kemp blasts two-run homer vs. Cubs
Matt Kemp went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: The first-inning blast off Kyle Hendricks was his first home run of the season. Kemp was very productive during the second half last year and he has largely picked up from where he left off with an impressive .340/.358/.540 batting line over his first 12 games this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Derek Norris not in Padres lineup Saturday
Derek Norris is not in the Padres starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Cubs.

Advice: It's a routine day of rest for Norris being a day game after a night game, but it's also noteworthy that it will be the second straight time that Will Nieves has caught for Tyson Ross. Expect to see Norris back in there on Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • Stephen Vogt homers twice as Athletics fall
Stephen Vogt delivered the first multi-homer game of his career in Friday's loss to the Royals.

Advice: Vogt followed a solo blast by Ike Davis with one of his own off Jeremy Guthrie in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3. He'd later tag Guthrie again in the seventh for another solo shot, once again bringing the A's even at 4-4. He finished the career night 3-for-4 and is now hitting an impressive .353/.421/.735 with eight RBI in his first season as the A's full-time starting catcher. Rotoworld.com

  • Asher Wojciechowski recalled from Triple-A
Astros recalled RHP Asher Wojciechowski from Triple-A Fresno.

Advice: Wojciechowski had just been sent down Tuesday, but he returns to replace the injured Brad Peacock (intercostal). He figures to serve as the team's fifth starter. Rotoworld.com

  • Iwakuma takes a no-decision over five innings
Hisashi Iwakuma allowed four runs in five innings, taking a no-decision in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Iwakuma's mediocre start to the 2015 season continues, as he had given up five runs in six innings to the Angels previously. The right-hander yielded six hits and walked three while striking out five against the Dodgers. Andre Ethier and Alex Guerrero both homered off of him. Iwakuma will try to turn things around in his next start at home against the Astros. Rotoworld.com

  • Dickerson triples, scores three runs in a win
Corey Dickerson went 3-for-4 with an RBI single, a triple, and three runs scored as the Rockies earned a 4-1 win over the Giants on Tuesday.

Advice: Dickerson brought in the Rockies' first run with a single in the second inning and later scored on a wild pitch. He singled and scored in the fourth, then led off the ninth inning with a triple and later came around to score an insurance run. Dickerson has been hitting quite well, having hit safely in seven of eight games with a .406 average, six extra-base hits, nine RBI, and eight runs scored in 34 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com

  • Despaigne stymies D'Backs as Padres win
Odrisamer Despaigne stymied the Diamondbacks over seven innings, allowing only one run, in Tuesday's win.

Advice: Despaigne is filling in for the injured Ian Kennedy and pitched admirably, limiting the D'Backs to two hits and two walks while striking out three. Mark Trumbo knocked in the only run with a fourth-inning double. Despaigne should be ignored for fantasy purposes as his next start will come against the Rockies at Coors Field. Rotoworld.com

  • Vogt (ankle) in A's lineup on Tuesday night
Stephen Vogt (ankle) is in the Athletics' starting lineup on Tuesday night versus the Astros.

Advice: Vogt turned his left ankle on Monday night, but he only came away with a bit of swelling. The catcher is batting .348/.423/.609 through seven games this year. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 1:50 pm
  • Alonso homers in a losing effort vs. D'Backs
Yonder Alonso homered in a losing effort against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Advice: Alonso went 1-for-4 on the evening and his second-inning solo home run off of Rubby De La Rosa barely made a dent as the D'Backs were leading 4-0 at the time. Alonso has cooled off since back-to-back three-hit games in games two and three of the regular season, but is still batting a cool .360 (9-for-25). Rotoworld.com

  • Shoemaker notches quality start in win vs TEX
Matt Shoemaker improved to 2-0, allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings, as the Angels went on to a 6-3 win versus the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: The Rangers got to Shoemaker early, scoring three runs in the first inning, but then the right-hander settled down. On the evening, Shoemaker yielded six hits and a walk while striking out seven. He'll look to improve to 3-0 in his next start against the Astros in Houston. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:54 pm
  • Stephen Vogt tweaks ankle Monday
Stephen Vogt turned his left ankle during Monday's game.

Advice: He finished the game but was noticeably hobbled. It doesn't sound like a huge deal, but Vogt will be re-evaluated on Tuesday and could wind up missing a game or two. For what it's worth, Vogt says he'll be fine. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:27 pm
  • Semien hits one of Athletics' three homers
Marcus Semien singled and hit a solo home run in four trips to the plate in Monday's 8-1 victory versus the Astros.

Advice: Semien pushed the Athletics' lead to 5-1 at the time with a fifth-inning solo homer off of Scott Feldman, one of the Athletics' three home runs on Monday night. The young shortstop is batting .323 (10-for-31) to start the season. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:19 pm
  • Asher Wojciechowski optioned to Triple-A
Astros optioned RHP Asher Wojciechowski to Triple-A Fresno.

Advice: Wojciechowski had been scheduled to start Tuesday, but he was needed out of the bullpen Monday. Brad Peacock (hip) will now be activated from the disabled list to take the ball Tuesday instead. Wojciechowski tossed four scoreless relief innings Monday after allowing four runs over four frames in a start last week. Rotoworld.com

  • Addison Russell bashes first Triple-A homer
Cubs prospect Addison Russell connected on a two-run homer Sunday in a win over Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: The third-inning blast was Russell's first Triple-A home run. He went 3-for-5 on the afternoon, bumping his season average up to a robust .389. Russell's path to the major leagues is currently being blocked by Starlin Castro, but if Russell keeps this up, the Cubs will have to find a spot for him. For what it's worth, Russell is considered a better defensive player than Castro. Rotoworld.com

  • Matt Kemp goes 4-for-5 against Giants
Matt Kemp went 4-for-5 with a two doubles versus the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: Kemp is still looking for his first homer for the Padres, but he's off to a nice start otherwise, with a .346/.393/.462 line and four RBI in six games. Thus far, Justin Upton and Will Middlebrooks are tied for the Padres team lead with one homer. Rotoworld.com

  • Stephen Vogt not in A's lineup on Saturday
Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: As it's an afternoon game after a night game, manager Bob Melvin thought it wise to get his backstop a day of rest. Josh Phegley will start behind the dish and bat seventh for the A's against J.A. Happ and the Mariners. Rotoworld.com
