Kimbrel overtakes Billy Wagner with 423rd save
Craig Kimbrel moved past Billy Wagner on the all-time saves list with a scoreless ninth Monday against the Angels.
Advice: This was a classic post-peak Kimbrel outing; he hit Jo Adell with an 0-2 pitch, gave up a soft single and then walked a batter for the first time this year to load the bases with one out. At that point, he got Nolan Schanuel to pop out and struck out Mike Trout on four fastballs. His 423rd save leaves him alone in seventh place on the all-time list. His next will tie John Franco for sixth, and after that, he’ll keep battling it out with Kenley Jansen, who is two saves ahead of him at 425. Both should also pass Francisco Rodríguez at 437 this year.
