  • Nationals claim Pedro Florimon off waivers
Nationals claimed INF Pedro Florimon off waivers from the Twins.

Advice: Florimon is a .204/.266/.300 career hitter in 692 career plate appearances at the major league level, but he is athletic enough to play all around the infield. The Nats designated outfielder Eury Perez for assignment to open up a 40-man roster spot. Rotoworld.com

  • Reddick (neck) out of A's lineup Thursday
Josh Reddick is out of the A's starting lineup on Thursday due to a sore neck and ankle.

Advice: Reddick underwent an MRI on Thursday morning that showed no structural damage. He's considered day-to-day. Sam Fuld is starting in right field versus Texas. Rotoworld.com

  • Taijuan Walker to start Friday versus Astros
Taijuan Walker will start for the Mariners on Friday night against the Astros.

Advice: He'll be filling in for Roenis Elias, who is likely done for the season with elbow troubles. Walker owns a 2.96 ERA and 21/15 K/BB ratio in 24 1/3 innings (three starts and three relief appearances) this season for the Mariners and makes for an intriguing fantasy streamer against the punchless 'Stros. • LeBlanc to start for Angels on Saturday
Wade LeBlanc has been confirmed as the Angels' starter for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: That was confirmed after the Halos clinched the American League West championship on Wednesday night. LeBlanc owns a rough 6.88 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 17 innings this season for Anaheim. He's filling in for Matt Shoemaker, who remains sidelined with an oblique strain. Rotoworld.com

  • Teixeira (wrist) goes 0-for-3 in return Wed.
Mark Teixeira (wrist) went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout Wednesday against the Rays.

Advice: Teixeira sat out Tuesday with discomfort in his surgically-repaired wrist. He told reporters that he's committed to playing through the pain through the end of the season and will then undergo a full examination to determine what sort of offseason treatment is necessary. The 34-year-old first baseman is batting .217/.320/.400 with 21 homers and 58 RBI in 116 games. Rotoworld.com

  • Hechavarria (shoulder) goes 1-for-3 in return
Adeiny Hechavarria (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's win.

Advice: Hechavarria missed Tuesday's game with a sore left shoulder. It was never a serious concern. The 25-year-old shortstop is batting .281/.313/.365 this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Smith (hamstring) strikes out as pinch-hitter
Seth Smith (hamstring) struck out as a pinch-hitter in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Smith was held out of the Padres' starting lineup due to a tweaked hamstring. He remains day-to-day. Rotoworld.com

  • Holland continues to excel since DL return
Derek Holland had another quality start in Wednesday's no-decision against the A's, surrendering just one run on four hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Advice: He struck out five and walked three. Holland has been sensational since returning from knee surgery. He has a 0.99 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 22/3 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings. He'll look to keep the momentum going on Monday versus Houston. Rotoworld.com

  • Revere goes 2-for-5 with a steal in win
Ben Revere went 2-for-5 with a double, steal and two RBI against the Padres on Wednesday.

Advice: He's swiped three bags over the past four games and now has 46 total, good for third best in the National League. Hopefully this game will break him out of his funk. Revere entered play batting just .171 in his last 11 games. Rotoworld.com

  • OF Brown has 2 hits in win agaisnt Padres
Domonic Brown went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the Phillies' win over the Padres on Wednesday.

Advice: It's been a long, lonely, treacherous season for the 2013 revelation. But he just finished off a solid series at Petco, going 4-for-11 (.363) with a homer and a steal. Hey, his owners will take whatever they can get at this point. Brown, slashing .234/.286/.353, is very likely playing out the string on his Phillies' career. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported earlier this month that the Phillies will look to trade Brown this winter. Rotoworld.com

  • Hamels dominates Padres, allows 1 ER in 7 IP
Cole Hamels painted seven innings of one-run ball as the Phillies sunk the Padres 5-2 on Wednesday.

Advice: Hamels struck out nine, walked one and scattered seven hits. Only Cameron Maybin's RBI single in the fourth, which gave San Diego a 1-0 lead, did any damage. Fortunately for Hamels, his teammates had his back and scored four runs in the top half of the next frame. Hamels, who improved to 9-7 with a 2.47 ERA, will be in Miami next time around. • Stults doesn't reach the 5th inning in defeat
Eric Stults allowed four runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: This outing was the norm earlier in the season, but odds are that it will annoy some fantasy owners perusing box scores online on Thursday morning. Consider: On July 27, the left-hander sat at 3-13 with a 5.22 ERA. Not even Rotoworld could have predicted what happened next: Stults went 4-3 with a 2.81 ERA in his next eight starts entering play today. If you decided to play with fire in the fantasy playoffs, you just got burned. The 34-year-old hosts the Rockies in a decent matchup on Tuesday. Rotoworld.com

  • Cron goes 2-for-3 with HR vs. the Mariners
C.J. Cron went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Cron had gone 1-for-10 with zero RBI in his previous five games since going deep for the last time. At this point in his career, Cron is a bit of an all-or-nothing proposition. The .482 slugging percentage is spectacular, but he'll want to get on base at a better than .301 clip in future campaigns. Rotoworld.com

  • Wilson gives up 1 hit over 7 shutout frames
C.J. Wilson fired seven shutout innings and yielded only one hit in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Mariners.

Advice: The Angels magic number to win the AL West has dropped to 1. Wilson whiffed seven and walked three in this gem, the lefty's third straight victory, a trick he pulled off for the first time this season. You shouldn't take that to mean he'd pitched particularly well prior to tonight, however, as Wilson allowed six runs (five earned) over 11 1/3 frames in the first two wins but received 23 runs of support. He didn't need much help tonight. Now 13-9 with a 4.42 ERA, Wilson has a pivotal matchup against the A's on deck. Rotoworld.com

  • Paxton strikes out 8 over 6+ frames in loss
James Paxton worked 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs in Wednesday's loss to the Angels.

Advice: Paxton matched Angels starter C.J. Wilson frame by scoreless frame until the seventh, when everything unraveled, though it looked worse on the box score than it was in reality. The left-hander induced a pop out in foul territory from Albert Pujols and then yielded a pair of singles. A throwing error allowed a run in and left a runner on second, so Paxton intentionally walked Erick Aybar. He got Chris Iannetta looking, but then Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon inserted Danny Farquhar. The reliever promptly gave up a homer. Paxton might forgive McClendon for not allowing him to clean his own mess, as the skipper has had kind words to say about Paxton recently, including calling him "the glue to this rotation." Paxton (6-3, 2.03 ERA) pitches north of the border in Toronto on Monday. Rotoworld.com

  • Wade LeBlanc likely to start on Saturday
Wade LeBlanc is the most likely candidate to start for the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Angels skipper Mike Scioscia said he wouldn't announce his starter until after Wednesday night's game, but LeBlanc is the most logical choice. With a 6.88 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 14/6 K/BB ratio through his 17 frames, he isn't a good streaming option in mixed leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Teixeira (wrist) back in Yankees' lineup Wed.
Mark Teixeira (wrist) is back in the Yankees' starting lineup on Wednesday night.

Advice: Teixeira missed Tuesday night's game due to wrist discomfort. It's apparently a manageable issue. He's playing first base and batting cleanup versus the Rays. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 1:15 pm
  • Angels to have bullpen start on Saturday
The Angels will make a "bullpen start" on Saturday against the Rangers in place of the injured Matt Shoemaker (oblique).

Advice: It will be either Wade LeBlanc or Michael Roth who will start the game, but the Angels will utilize many of the 18 pitchers they're carrying. Shoemaker might miss more than just the one start, so LeBlanc and/or Roth could be needed for another start next week. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 8:14 am
  • Seth Smith scratched with sore hammy
Seth Smith was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a sore hamstring.

Advice: It sounds like a minor issue, as Smith could be available to pinch-hit. Consider him day-to-day. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 4:22 pm
  • Teixeira sits Tuesday due to wrist discomfort
Mark Teixeira is out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Tuesday due to lingering wrist discomfort.

Advice: Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters that he'll rely on Teixeira to tell the team when he's ready to return. It's a day-to-day situation for now. Teixeira had surgery on that same wrist last season. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 2:06 pm
  • Hechavarria (shoulder) out of MIA lineup
Adeiny Hechavarria is out of the Marlins' starting lineup on Tuesday due to a sore left shoulder.

Advice: Ed Lucas will start at shortstop against the Mets. Hechavarria missed some time earlier this season with discomfort in his left elbow, but this issue has more to do with his shoulder. He is day-to-day. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 1:46 pm
  • Revere collects two more steals vs. Marlins
Ben Revere stole two more bases Sunday, going 2-for-5 with a run scored in a loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Revere has now stolen 45 bases on the year, still behind only Dee Gordon and Billy Hamilton. His two hits raised his season line to .309 with a .694 OPS, and he's scored 68 runs atop the Phillies lineup. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 2:07 pm
  • Domonic Brown returns to lineup with two hits
Domonic Brown (shoulder) returned to action on Friday, going 2-for-4 in an extra-inning victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Brown left Wednesday's game with a left shoulder contusion sustained after diving for a ball in the outfield, then sat out Thursday's contest as a precautionary measure. After a breakout 2013 season, the 2014 campaign hasn't been as kind to the 27-year-old outfielder as he's slashing just .233/.285/.349 with nine homers and 59 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • C.J. Wilson strikes out six in win
C.J. Wilson surrendered three runs -- two earned -- in five innings Friday in a victory over the Astros.

Advice: Wilson walked three, but two of those were intentional free passes to Chris Carter. He struck out six. Wilson really hasn't turned in a dominant effort in months, but with the way the Angels offense is clicking, he hasn't needed to. He's currently 12-9 despite a 4.61 ERA. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:26 pm
  • C.J. Cron returns to lineup
C.J. Cron returned to action on Friday and went 0-for-3 against the Astros.

Advice: Cron had been out with a sore wrist. He'll likely head back to the bench versus righty Scott Feldman on Saturday, but he should get another start versus left-hander Dallas Keuchel on Sunday. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:23 pm
  • James Paxton beats A's for sixth win
James Paxton yielded two runs -- one earned -- in six innings Friday in a win over the A's.

Advice: Paxton struck out eight in improving to 6-2 on the year. He walked three, but that wasn't much of an issue against a punchless A's lineup. Oakland ended up with six hits on the night, none of which went for extra bases. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:17 pm
  • Derek Holland shines again in no-decision
Derek Holland was tremendous in Friday's no-decision against the Braves, surrendering just one run on eight hits over seven innings.

Advice: Holland struck out six on the evening without issuing a free pass. He has been outstanding since returning from the disabled list, compiling a 0.86 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 17/0 K/BB ratio in 21 innings. He'll look to keep it rolling when he takes on the Athletics in Oakland on Thursday. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 9:06 pm
  • Cole Hamels strikes out six in no-decision
Cole Hamels racked up six strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday.

Advice: Hamels surrendered just one run on nine hits and a walk in his seven frames. As anticipated, the veteran southpaw has bounced back in a huge way after a disappointing 2013 campaign, and now sports a 2.51 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 178/56 K/BB ratio over 182 2/3 innings. He'll again look to earn his ninth victory when he takes on the Padres in San Diego on Wednesday. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 8:38 pm
  • Hechavarria plates run in loss to Phillies
Adeiny Hechavarria drove home the Marlins lone run in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: His RBI single in the sixth inning plated Jeff Baker, tying the game at 1-1. He finished the evening 2-for-4, raising his season slash to .280/.311/.364. He doesn't provide much in the way of power or speed, but is worth using in NL-only formats for his consistent at-bats. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 8:35 pm
  • Domonic Brown available off the bench
Domonic Brown (shoulder) is available to pinch-hit Thursday.

Advice: Brown left Wednesday's game with a left shoulder injury, but he's fine. He probably could have started Thursday but was slated to come off the bench, anyway, with the Phillies facing lefty Francisco Liriano. "He's available. He got a little stinger last night in his shoulder area that he initially felt. It tightened up a little bit as we went along but the bigger issue out there was he just got the wind knocked out of him," manager Ryne Sandberg said. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 5:15 pm
  • C.J. Cron has been nursing sore wrist
C.J. Cron has been unavailable the last few days due to a sore wrist.

Advice: He's expected to be available to play this weekend. Cron is hitting .276/.306/.481 with 10 homers and 32 RBI over 67 games for the Angels this season. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 4:03 pm
  • Brown exits game with left shoulder contusion
Domonic Brown left Wednesday's game with a left shoulder contusion.

Advice: Brown dove for a ball in left field in the fifth inning but stayed in the game at the time. He was later pinch-hit for by Darin Ruf. The Phillies should update his status after the game, but it's likely a day-to-day situation for now. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 6:47 pm
  • Brown removed after landing hard in outfield
Domonic Brown was removed in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Pirates after injuring himself diving for a ball.

Advice: Brown laid out for a ball in left field in the fifth inning and stayed down briefly before staying in the game. He played another inning before being pinch-hit for in the bottom of the sixth inning. Darin Ruf pinch-hit for him and replaced him in left. Rotoworld.com
