    • J.J. Hardy went 3-for-4 with a home run as the Orioles beat the Tigers 5-2 on Tuesday.
Advice: Hardy had two singles to go with the two-run homer, giving him 14 home runs and 42 RBI on the season. The Orioles lineup is not lacking in hitters having great years, and Hardy is no exception.

Advice: Acquired from the Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later on Friday, Ciriaco is now 3-for-9 over three games for the Friars. Ciriaco doesn't figure to play or hit enough to become fantasy relevant, but he's usable in deeper NL-only formats at the moment due to Jedd Gyorko's injury.

    • Mike Aviles went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI as the Indians beat the Royals on Tuesday.
Advice: Aviles was in the middle of the Indians' three-run eighth inning, eventually scoring the winning run on a Michael Brantley sacrifice fly. The utility infielder has gotten regular playing time with Asdrubal Cabrera sidelined, but he should return to a reserve role when Cabrera returns. He's hitting .277 on the year.

    • Mike Aviles finished 3-for-4 in the Indians' loss to the Nationals on Saturday in Cleveland.
Advice: Aviles had a double in the third inning, a single in the fifth and a second double in the ninth. He has struggled for the most part this season but may be a decent fill-in for Troy Tulowitzki owners over the next several weeks.

Advice: Scutaro is dealing with "mallet finger" in his left pinkie, which is a form of tendon damage. The injury can often take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from, but Scutaro will try to play through it. He had missed the previous six games.

    • Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Monday that Jordy Mercer will receive the bulk of the playing time at shortstop moving forward.
Advice: Clint Barmes began the year as the starter, but he's batting a pathetic .198/.231/.265 through 54 games this season. Meanwhile, Mercer has been productive when given the opportunity. The 26-year-old doesn't project as a long-term piece, but he's worth owning in NL-only leagues for now.

    • Batting out of the No. 3 spot, Starlin Castro had a two-run ground-rule double in Saturday's win over the Mets.
Advice: It was his only hit in six at-bats and it might have been caught if someone other than Lucas Duda was playing left field, but fantasy owners will take what they can get. After spending some time in the bottom-third of the order, Castro has been near the top of the lineup for the past three games. He's one of the team's best offensive players, even though he has struggled this season, so look for that trend to continue.
      (Rotoworld.com)
  • Thu, Jun 13
    • Back in the No. 2 spot for the first time since June 2, Starlin Castro went 3-for-7 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Reds.
Advice: Castro nearly hit a game-winning homer in the ninth, but settled for a double and was eventually stranded. However, he helped manufacture the winning-run in the 14th inning after he reached on a single and stole second base. After Alfonso Soriano moved him over to third base on a ground out, he scored the winning run when Julio Borbon delivered a single through the left side of the infield. This was Castro's first multi-hit game since May 27, so Cubs manager Dale Sveum figures to keep him in the No. 2 spot for the time being. While the 23-year-old has been a major disappointment this season, he has major bounce-back potential.

Advice: Jeter hit off a tee and took swings in an indoor cage before resuming light infield work. It was the first time he has done any baseball activities since mid-April. Assuming he avoids setbacks, Jeter could be ready to rejoin the Yankees' lineup in about six weeks.
