• Claimed by Yankees
The Yankees claimed Tonkin off waivers from the Mets on Thursday.

Advice: After being DFA'd for the third time this month Monday, Tonkin will now move from Queens to the Bronx and nab a spot on a 40-man roster. The 34-year-old right-hander has allowed six earned runs across nine innings between the Twins and Mets this season and will likely be limited to low-leverage situations with the Yankees. McKinley Moore was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago
  • Yankees designate McKinley Moore for assignment
Yankees designated RHP McKinley Moore for assignment.

Advice: The 25-year-old recently was on the injured list with a knee injury but was activated a couple weeks ago. He hasn’t pitched in the majors this season, but did last season with the Phillies where he pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed seven earned runs on five hits. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago
  • Designated for assignment
Moore was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: He's losing his spot on the 40-man roster in favor of Michael Tonkin, who was claimed off waivers. Moore missed the first couple weeks of this season with a knee injury and since returning has allowed two runs with a 1:6 K:BB over two-thirds of an inning. The 25-year-old has missed a ton of bats in the minors in the past, so even with his current struggles he could receive interest via trade or waivers. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago
  • Yankees claim Michael Tonkin off waivers
Yankees claimed RHP Michael Tonkin off waivers from the Mets.

Advice: Tonkin will go from Queens to the Bronx after he was designated for assignment by the Mets earlier this week. The Yankees will be Tonkin’s third team this season as the the 34-year-old also had a short stint with the Twins. He’ll add some bullpen depth for the Yankees. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago
  • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Mariners transferred Santos (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Thursday.

Advice: The transaction was made in order to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Leonardo Rivas, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. Santos is in the midst of a throwing program as he works his way back from a right lat strain, but the Mariners are proceeding conservatively with him. He won't be eligible to make his season debut until late May. Rotowire.com Today, 10:21 am
  • Mariners transfer Gregory Santos to 60-day IL
Mariners transferred RHP Gregory Santos to the 60-day injured list with a right lat strain.

Advice: Santos’ hasn’t been able to pitch with his lat strain and even with a positive result from an MRI, the team has decided to shelf the 24-year-old hurler for an extended period of time. This is a brutal blow for fantasy managers who were expecting Santos to return by the end of May. Rotoworld Today, 10:21 am
  • Credited with win
Schreiber (2-0) pitched a perfect inning and was credited with the win Wednesday over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Schreiber was deemed the most effective reliever after Alec Marsh (elbow) exited the contest in the fifth inning and Angel Zerpa struggled in a 1.2-inning assignment. Schreiber has maintained scoreless outings in all but one of his appearances so far, pitching to a 0.75 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB across 12 innings. He's added two wins and seven holds while serving in a setup role. Schreiber doesn't have a clear path to saves with James McArthur emerging as the Royals' closer, but he's very clearly in the late-inning mix. Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am
  • Takes loss Wednesday
Hjelle (0-1) took the loss versus the Mets on Wednesday, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two over 2.2 innings.

Advice: Blake Snell (thigh) was placed on the injured list Wednesday, forcing the Giants to go with a bullpen game. Hjelle ended up with the most innings of the seven pitchers used, but he was unable to match his success from his season debut Sunday versus the Diamondbacks, when he pitched two innings of one-hit ball. The right-hander was on the shelf with an elbow injury to begin the season, and he'll likely serve as a long reliever for the majority of 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 9:40 am
  • Starting rehab assignment
Topa (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Topa opened the season on the shelf with left patellar tendinitis but has been cleared to test himself in a game setting. The reliever presumably will need multiple rehab appearances before returning from the 15-day injured list and slotting back into the Minnesota bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 9:18 am
