    • Swipes bag in Sunday's loss
Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Freeman walked in the third and stole second base but was left there stranded with the bases loaded. It was just his fourth swipe of the year and his first since June 5. The 34-year-old has started off July well at the dish, tallying eight hits, six RBI and a 5:5 BB:K over his first six games of the month. It's a continuation of what he's been doing all season long, as he's slashing .301/.406/.506 with 13 homers, 58 RBI, 55 runs and a 54:61 BB:K in 399 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago
    • Alec Burleson homers, plates three vs. Nationals
Alec Burleson went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBI on Monday, powering the Cardinals to a 6-0 victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Burleson’s breakthrough campaign continued on Monday afternoon as he did most of his damage in the late stages of this one, blasting a solo homer -- his career-high 14th round-tripper of the season -- off Nationals reliever Jacob Barnes in the eighth inning to give the Cardinals a commanding three-run advantage at the time. He also tacked on a two-run single in the ensuing frame, just for good measure. The 25-year-old figures to continue playing regularly at designated hitter against right-handed pitching as he’s off to a stellar start this year, batting .283 with 14 homers and seven steals through 83 contests. • Paul Goldschmidt homers in victory over Nationals
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Monday in the Cardinals’ win over the Nationals.

Advice: Goldschmidt extended the Cardinals’ early lead with a solo shot -- his 12th big fly of the season -- off Nationals starter Mitchell Parker in the fourth inning. He also reached on a fielding error and came around to score on a Brendan Donovan double in the eighth inning as well. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman has gone deep only five times over his last 30 games and simply hasn’t produced enough so far this season to remain rostered in shallow mixed leagues. • Cracks homer, plates three in win
Burleson went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and two additional RBI in Monday's 6-0 victory over Washington.

Advice: The St. Louis slugger smashed a 406-foot, solo shot off Jacob Barnes in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 3-0. Burleson has rounded into a formidable bat over his past 20 games, hitting .316 (24-for-76) with five homers, 21 RBI and 15 runs scored while batting second nearly every day. Overall, the 25-year-old is slashing .283/.319/.464 with 14 homers, 45 RBI and 36 runs scored in 316 total plate appearances. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

    • DFA'd by Halos
The Angels designated Sano for assignment Monday.

Advice: The move is to make room on the roster for Anthony Rendon (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday. Sano came off the 10-day IL on June 25 after recovering from knee inflammation and was in contention for an everyday role at third base after Luis Rengifo (wrist) was placed on the injured list. However, Sano has gone just 1-for-22 with nine strikeouts since his return, and his playing time was set to diminish even further with Rendon off the IL. Should Sano clear waivers, he will have the option of sticking with the Halos in Triple-A or decline an outright assignment and seek to join another club. Rotowire.com Today, 2:34 pm

    • Angels designate Miguel Sanó for assignment
Angels designated INF Miguel Sanó for assignment.

Advice: Sanó's exit velocity numbers were strong after his year away from baseball, but his 38% strikeout rate left him with a .205/.295/.313 line in 95 plate appearances. There’s still the chance that he could be a net positive for a major league team given regular playing time, but his upside is pretty limited at this point. Rotoworld Today, 2:28 pm

    • Bryce Harper “possibly” back on Tuesday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said “possibly” when asked if Bryce Harper (hamstring) will return on Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Bryce Harper was able to run the bases at “close to 100 percent” on Saturday and that was “the final step in his recovery.” The Phillies now just need to determine if “close to 100 percent” is enough to activate their star. Obviously, the series against the Dodgers is a big one, but the Phillies have a commanding lead in the NL East and a series with Oakland following this one against Los Angeles. With the All-Star break looming, the team could just decide to ensure Harper is fully healthy for the second part of the season. We likely won’t know for sure until Tuesday, which makes it tough for some fantasy managers in weekly lineup lock leagues. Rotoworld Today, 11:33 am

    • Hitting bench Monday
Jones is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Jones will retreat to the bench for the series opener in Cincinnati while southpaw Andrew Abbott takes the hill for the Reds. Hunter Goodman will get the start in left field in place of Jones, who is getting on base at a .355 clip but has provided few counting statistics (two home runs, one stolen base, seven RBI, six runs) in his 21 games since he returned from the injured list in mid-June. • Sitting against lefty
Cave is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Cave will retreat to the bench for the series opener in Cincinnati after he had started in four of the Rockies' previous five contests. With southpaw Andrew Abbott on the bump for the Reds, Cave will cede his spot in the lineup to the right-handed-hitting Aaron Schunk, who will get the start at third base while Ryan McMahon serves as the Rockies' designated hitter.
