    • Notches second save
Cabrera gave up a hit and a walk while striking out in the 10th inning Sunday to record his second save of the season in a win over the Mariners.

Advice: Chad Green worked the ninth in a tie game, leaving Cabrera to handle the save situation when the team took the lead in the top of the 10th. The southpaw got the job done, continuing a hot streak that has seen him get scored upon only once in his last 12 appearances. Cabrera sports a 0.75 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB in 12 innings over that stretch, but he hasn't seen consistent high-leverage usage -- he has two extra-inning saves during that time, but zero wins or holds. With Tim Mayza no longer on the roster, however, Cabrera is the top left-handed option in the Toronto bullpen, which should lead to more holds in the second half of the season. • Chris Paddack off the IL for Monday start
Twins activated RHP Chris Paddack (arm) from the 15-day IL.

Advice: Paddack was placed on the IL on June 25th with arm fatigue and was quick to make public remarks that there was no injury to worry about. With David Festa struggling in his first two MLB starts, the Twins will activate Paddack from the IL on Monday in time to start against the White Sox. Given that Paddack is coming off two weeks of rest and has a 5.29 ERA in 15 starts this season, he’s a risky bet even in a plus matchup. Josh Winder was sent to the minors in a corresponding move. • Solid in second rehab outing
Santos (lat) fired a scoreless fourth inning for High-A Everett against Vancouver on Saturday, recording a strikeout.

Advice: Santos needed just eight pitches to get through his one frame Saturday, following a 13-pitch rehab debut with Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday. Considering MLB.com reports Santos worked his fastball up to 99 mph during Saturday's outing, he may already be deemed ready for activation, with a decision on that front slated to come after an evaluation during Monday's team off day. • Outrighted to Triple-A
The Brewers outrighted Clarke to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Advice: He's no longer on the 40-man roster, but Clarke will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The right-hander has posted a 5.34 ERA and 26:7 K:BB over 30.1 innings with Nashville in 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 7:14 am
    • Picks up save No. 18
Jansen locked down his 18th save of the year in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Yankees, tossing a clean ninth inning while striking out a batter in the process.

Advice: Jansen made quick work of the Yankee hitters, getting Ben Rice to ground out and Juan Soto to line out before sending Aaron Judge down on strikes to end the game. Father time is doing Jansen well this season, as he's converted 18 of his first 19 save chances while sporting a 2.01 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB in 31.1 innings. He has 10 straight scoreless outings since June 15 and has picked up a win and eight saves over that span. Rotowire.com Today, 7:10 am
    • Cleared for rehab assignment
Lovelady (forearm) was sent to the Rays' Florida Complex League affiliate Monday to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: Lovelady has been shelved since early June with a left forearm flexor strain but has been cleared to test things out in a game setting. The left-handed reliever has posted a 7.36 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 7.1 innings with the Rays this season and appears poised for a return at the start of the second half. Rotowire.com Today, 7:10 am
    • Extremely efficient versus Yankees
Crawford (5-7) earned the win Sunday against the Yankees after tossing seven shutout innings while allowing just four hits. He struck out four.

Advice: Crawford was incredibly efficient Sunday night, needing just 68 pitches to coast through seven frames while throwing 54 strikes. Crawford's never pitched into the eighth before, and while he certainly could've based on pitch count, manager Alex Cora decided to turn to the bullpen for the final six outs. Crawford contributed to shutting out the Yankees offense for the first time since April and now owns an 11:0 K:BB over his last 13 innings after back-to-back starts without issuing a walk. The 28-year-old now owns a 3.24 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 106:28 K:BB in 105.2 innings and will look to finish out the first half strong as he prepares to face the Royals at home in a weekend series. • Slated for rehab assignment
Stewart (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul reports.

Advice: Stewart has been on the shelf since early May with right shoulder tendinitis but is ready to test himself in a game setting after getting through several throwing sessions without any hiccups. With a 0.66 ERA and 34.8 percent strikeout rate over 41 career innings with the Twins, Stewart will be a big boost to the bullpen once he returns, which should happen at the start of the second half. • Reliever Alex Young traded to Giants
Giants acquired LHP Alex Young from the Reds for OF Austin Slater.

Advice: Young has thrown just two innings at the big league level in 2024 but has a 1.19 ERA across 22 2/3 innings at Triple-A with a 22/7 K/BB ratio. He has also been a valuable reliever for the last two seasons and appeared in 63 games for the Reds last year. He should get a chance to contribute for the Giants in the near future.
