    • Held out again Friday
Lowe (toe) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Lowe hasn't played since suffering a fractured right pinky toe on June 22. The Rays are facing a lefty in Mitchell Parker on Friday, so Lowe might not have been in the lineup, anyway. If he remains out Saturday against righty Jake Irvin, a stint on the injured list surely will have to be considered. Jose Caballero is at second base Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:07 pm

    • Brandon Lowe on bench again Friday
Brandon Lowe (toe) isn’t starting for Friday’s game against the Nationals.

Advice: Lowe hasn’t played since June 22nd after breaking his pinkie toe. He also battled an illness earlier this week. Tampa Bay is also facing a left-hander starter in Mitchell Parker. The Rays haven’t put Lowe on the IL yet so hopefully he can return to the lineup soon. Jose Caballero will get the start at second base and bat seventh on Friday. • Scratched from Thursday's lineup
Stephenson (personal) was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Cardinals, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Stephenson was scratched moments before first pitch to be present for the birth of his child. He'll likely be placed on the paternity list and will miss between one and three additional games. Luke Maile took over behind the dish. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:55 pm
    • Tyler Stephenson scratched from Thursday’s lineup
Tyler Stephenson was scratched from the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Stephenson left the club on Thursday evening to be with his pregnant wife, according to a team statement. There’s a strong possibility he’s away from the team for the next couple days. It’ll be Luke Maile handling the catching duties in his absence. Austin Wynns would most likely come back up from Triple-A Louisville, if he’s gone more than a day or two. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:52 pm
    • Lourdes Gurriel Jr. drives in two runs in loss
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI against the Twins on Wednesday.

Advice: Gurriel Jr. drove in two of the D-Backs’ three runs against the Twins, starting with a triple in the fourth to bring in the first run of the game for Arizona. With a runner on third in the sixth inning, he drove in a second run with a sacrifice fly. The 30-year-old outfielder is hitting .260/.293/.409 with 10 homers and 45 RBI across 310 plate appearances. • Nolan Jones doubles, scores run in losing effort
Nolan Jones went 1-for-2 with a double on Wednesday in the Rockies’ loss to the Astros.

Advice: It’s been a tough season for Jones on the heels of last year’s unexpected breakthrough campaign, but he’s starting to show some signs of life recently, hitting .279 (12-for-43) with one homer and one steal over his last 15 games. The fact that he’s starting to hit for a little bit of power is an encouraging sign after injuries derailed the first few months of the season for him. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:59 pm

    • Taking seat Wednesday
Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Baltimore.

Advice: Naylor will get some rest in the series finale after he caught both of the Guardians' last two contests while going 4-for-8 with two doubles, one triple, three runs and two RBI. Austin Hedges will pick up the start behind the plate Wednesday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:43 pm
    • Idle Wednesday
McCormick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: After starting each of the last three games, McCormick will be the odd man out of the Astros outfield on Wednesday with Houston clearing a spot in left field for Yordan Alvarez, who typically serves as the team's designated hitter. McCormick could be forced to the bench on a more frequent basis once Kyle Tucker (shin) returns from the injured list, though it's not yet clear when Tucker might rejoin the big club as his rehab program has proceeded more slowly than anticipated. • Remains out of lineup
Lowe (toe) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Lowe will miss out on a fourth consecutive start as he deals with a fractured right pinky toe. The plan still seems to be for Lowe to attempt to play through the injury, and perhaps he'll be ready to do so Friday against the Nationals following the Rays' off day Thursday.
