    • Set to return from IL on Tuesday
      The Giants will reinstate Snell (groin) from the 15-day injured list and have him start Tuesday versus the Blue Jays in San Francisco, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

      Advice: As he prepares for his first start with the Giants since June following his second IL stint of the season, Snell will be taking the hill on five days' rest. The southpaw endured some bumps in the road in the first of his two rehab outings in his return from a left groin strain, but he was utterly dominant in his final start for Sacramento on Wednesday, tossing five no-hit, shutout innings while striking out nine. He'll tentatively line up for two starts during the upcoming week, with his second outing set to fall next Sunday versus the Twins in the Giants' final game before the All-Star break.     • Snell (groin) likely to start Tuesday vs. Blue Jays
      Blake Snell (groin) is likely to start Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Snell will come off the injured list Tuesday after missing over a month with his groin strain. The southpaw was sensational in his last rehab start with five scoreless innings and nine strikeouts, and while he has struggled in his six starts with the Giants thus far with a 9.64 ERA, the 31-year-old’s pedigree and success in the second halves of season are obviously worth considering.     • Allows five runs in no-decision
      Gray did not factor into the decision in Friday's 7-6 win against the Nationals, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk with six strikeouts over five innings.

      Advice: Gray allowed a total of five runs over the first three innings and departed after five frames with a 5-3 deficit. He surrendered eight hard hits and now carries a 5.09 ERA in road starts compared to a 1.90 mark at home . On the season, the 34-year-old owns a 3.30 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 115:24 K:BB over 92.2 innings.     • Sonny Gray hit hard by Nationals
      Sonny Gray allowed eight hits and five runs in five innings of work against the Nationals on Friday. He struck out six and walked one in a no-decision.

      Advice: It was a very humid night in our nation’s capital and you could see the sweat pouring off Gray in his gray jersey. Clearly uncomfortable, he also could not find a way through lefties CJ Abrams, Jesse Winker, and Luis García Jr. They all tagged him for at least one extra-base hit while Winker and García had five combined hard-hit balls off Gray. He struggles with lefties relative to righties (.319 wOBA vs. L, .210 wOBA vs. R) mostly because his sweeper is less effective against opposite-handed batters.     • Dominant in rehab outing
      Snell (groin) struck out nine over five scoreless innings in his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Sacramento. He allowed no hits and issued one walk.

      Advice: Making his third rehab start with Sacramento since landing on the 15-day injured list June 3, Snell made quick work of the Reno lineup, needing just 67 pitches (46 strikes) to record 15 outs. Based on how well he performed in addition to increasing his workload, Snell should be ready to return from the IL next week to make his next start with the Giants.       Gallen did not factor into the decision in a win over the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: The Dodgers put Gallen to task early, drawing 85 pitches out of the right-hander over four innings, with all three runs coming against him in his final frame. It marked Gallen's shortest outing of the season outside of his injury-shortened appearance May 30 against the Mets, and he's now allowed three runs in three of his last four starts (excluding May 30).     • Surrenders four runs in defeat
      Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

      Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames.     • Zac Gallen lasts just four innings versus Dodgers
      Zac Gallen allowed three runs over four innings Thursday in his start versus the Dodgers.

      Advice: The results weren’t great, but Gallen’s velocity tonight was even better in his first start back from the IL; he averaged 95.9 mph on his fastball, up from 95.2 mph last time out and 92.9 mph in the 11 starts before he went on the IL. Because of the diminished velocity, we were a bit down on him before his hamstring injury. He seems like a better bet now, though. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:29 pm

      Morton (5-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Thursday.

      Advice: Morton continues to alternate between good and bad starts, with this one not being particularly sharp. He threw 54 of 94 pitches for strikes and served up home runs to Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman in the fourth inning. This was the first time all year Morton has been taken deep multiple times in a start. He's been generally effective with a 3.96 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 92:38 K:BB over 91 innings across 16 starts.
