    • Not in Boston lineup
Hamilton is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Hamilton has now started just two of the last six contests. He and Enmanuel Valdez have been sharing starts at second base against righties but will be Valdez at the keystone Friday versus lefty Nestor Cortes. Rotowire.com Today, 12:50 pm

    • Officially activated
Hoeing (hamstring) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and is starting Friday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Hoeing has been shelved since May 3 with a strained left hamstring and after making five rehab appearances since June 14, he'll rejoin the active roster. While the 27-year-old is listed as Miami's starting pitcher, he shouldn't be expected to handle a typical starters' workload considering he hasn't completed three innings in any of his rehab outings and was used out of the bullpen before being injured. That being said, Hoeing has been utilized as a starter in previous seasons and could see multiple starts given the Marlins' numerous pitching injuries. Rotowire.com Today, 12:22 pm

    • Heading back to Triple-A
The Marlins optioned Tyler to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Advice: Tyler had made three straight starts with the Marlins, allowing five runs across 15.0 innings with nine strikeouts. However, the 27-year-old will give up his spot on the active roster to Bryan Hoeing (hamstring), who'll be activated from the IL to start Friday's game against the White Sox. • Out of lineup Friday
Maile (hip) is absent from the starting nine Friday against Detroit.

Advice: Maile was removed from Thursday's game in the seventh inning due to a hip injury and won't start Friday's contest. Early indications are that Maile's injury is minor and it's unclear if he would have been in the lineup Friday even if healthy. Rotowire.com Today, 12:09 pm

    • Idle Friday
Fraley is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Detroit.

Advice: Fraley's playing time has been trending down lately, having only started in four of the Reds' last 12 games. Nick Martini has emerged as Cincinnati's preferred option in left field, pushing Will Benson into right field and Fraley to the bench on most nights. Rotowire.com Today, 12:05 pm

    • Tigers to call up OF Parker Meadows
Tigers are calling up OF Parker Meadows from Triple-A, according to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press.

Advice: Meadows struggled mightily with the Tigers earlier this year. He hit .096 with two home runs in 32 games with Detroit. Meadows hit .298 with eight home runs and 19 stolen bases in 47 games with Triple-A Toledo. The average could continue to be a problem, but if he can just get on base he should be a good source of steals. Rotoworld Today, 8:11 am

    • Set to be recalled
The Tigers will recall Meadows from Triple-A Toledo prior to Friday's game against the Reds, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Meadows was sent down by the Tigers in early May after putting up a lowly .443 OPS with a 37.7 percent strikeout rate over 32 games. However, he got back on track at Toledo, slashing .298/.394/.511 with eight home runs, 19 stolen bases and just a 19 percent strikeout rate in 47 contests. Meadows will get regular reps at least against right-handed pitching, and while there's no guarantee he'll be better this time around in the majors, his power/speed combo makes him worthy of being added in most formats. • Moves to leadoff
Smith batted leadoff and went 2-for-4 in Thursday's 3-1 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Smith was moved up to leadoff, as a slumping Marcus Semien was given a rare day off. Smith continues to be a surprise and leads the Rangers with a 2.7 WAR. He should continue to see regular work at third base with Josh Jung (wrist) not expected to return until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 6:22 am

    • Removed with side injury
Maile was removed from Thursday's game in the seventh inning after sustaining a side injury near his right hip, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Maile said he was uncomfortable all day and felt pain on the follow through of his swing that produced an inning-ending groundout in the bottom of the sixth inning. He remained in the game but was eventually removed the next inning. Maile described it as a nerve hurting on the lower right side of his hip. He received treatment following the game and reports feeling better already. Rotowire.com Today, 5:38 am
