    • Albert Suárez scoreless over six innings in win
Albert Suárez shut the Rangers out over six innings on Friday. He struck out two and walked none in a 2-1 win for the Orioles.

Advice: This was Suárez’s first quality start of the season. In fact, it was the first time he completed six innings. He didn’t have great swing and miss stuff or command of his off-speed pitches, but filled up the zone with his fastball and forced the Rangers into plenty of lazy fly balls. It’s hard to get very excited about him until we see more consistent strikeout totals. He has just 21 punch outs in 25 innings this month. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:45 pm

    • Next start set for Tuesday
Crawford's next start will come on Tuesday in Miami after his last outing was suspended by rain, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Crawford threw only 23 pitches over 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays before inclement weather forced any early end to his night. Despite the righty's limited workload in that outing, the Red Sox have elected to give Crawford five days of rest before his next start. He's tentatively lined up for two starts next week, as a date with the Yankees looms next weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:59 pm

    • Masyn Winn absent from Cardinals lineup on Friday
Masyn Winn is absent from the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Friday’s battle against the Reds.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 22-year-old rookie shortstop. Brandon Crawford will draw a rare start in his place and will bat eighth for the Cardinals against Reds’ right-hander Frankie Montas on Friday evening in St. Louis. • Getting day off
Winn is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Winn will get his first true rest day since June 5, giving way to Brandon Crawford at shortstop Friday. Since the start of June, Winn is batting 25-for-97 (.258) with two homers and 16 runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:55 pm

    • Out against lefty
Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Washington, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Rortvedt will retreat to the bench as the Rays take on southpaw Zach Eflin. Alex Jackson will take over catching duties and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:05 pm
    • Dominant in tough-luck defeat
Sale (10-3) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings against the White Sox. He struck out 11.

Advice: Sale dominated his former team, with a first-inning homer by Luis Robert marking the only blemish to his stellar outing. However, the bats failed to provide any support for Sale, and Atlanta suffered its third shutout loss of the season with each occurring within the month of June. Following an inexplicable blip June 1 when he allowed eight runs to the hapless Athletics, Sale has rebounded over the last four games by allowing a total of six earned runs over 26 innings, giving him an ERA of 2.08 with a 0.85 WHIP and 36 strikeouts during that stretch. His next start is tentatively scheduled to take place in the middle of next week, when Atlanta plays host to the Giants. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:06 am

    • Sale strikes out 11 in hard-luck loss to former team
Chris Sale struck out 11 over seven innings of one-run baseball, but picked up a loss Thursday as the White Sox beat Atlanta 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Advice: Sale was facing his former team in the White Sox, and while he gets credited for the loss, it was a dominant effort for the 35-year-old. The only blemish came when he gave up a solo homer to Luis Robert Jr. in the first, and he allowed just three more hits while missing plenty of bats. It’s the third time Sale has picked up double-digit strikeouts — the 11 are a season high — and he’s now the owner of a 2.79 ERA and 118/17 K/BB over 15 starts. He gets the Giants next. • Grabs 28th save
Helsley allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in a 4-1 win over Atlanta in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Helsley allowed two runs in Monday's game versus Atlanta, but he was able to keep his save streak going. The right-hander has converted his last 28 save attempts after blowing his first chance of the year. He's now at a 2.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 43:16 K:BB through 36 innings. Helsley has allowed six hits and issued 10 walks over 11 innings in June, but he's been scored on in just two of his 11 appearances this month, so his place as the Cardinals' closer is not in doubt. • Alec Burleson doubles twice in win over Braves
Alec Burleson went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in the Cardinals’ 4-1 win over the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: With two runners on and two outs in the third inning, Burleson brought both runners in to score on a double off Bryce Elder. He doubled once again in the eighth for his second hit of the game. The 25-year-old outfielder is slashing .289/.321/.478 with 12 homers, 36 RBI, and five steals across 264 plate appearances.
