      Houck (7-6) took the loss Saturday, coughing up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 4.1 innings as the Red Sox were routed 11-1 by the Padres. He struck out six.

      Advice: Manny Machado took him deep twice, while Jackson Merrill also chipped in a long ball. Houck had served up only two homers all season coming into Saturday, and even with this performance, the right-hander sports a 2.67 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 105:19 K:BB through 107.2 innings on the season.       Will Smith went 3-for-6 with a double and three RBI on Saturday night as the Dodgers outlasted the Giants in 11 innings.

      Advice: Smith beat out an infield single in the fourth inning that drove in a run and knotted the score at five runs apiece. He then delivered the game’s biggest hit in the 11th inning, smacking a two-run double that gave the Dodgers a two-run lead and put them well on their way to victory.     • Tyler Glasnow hit hard in three innings vs. Giants
      Tyler Glasnow was hit hard in no-decision against the Giants on Saturday night, surrendering five runs on seven hits in just three innings of work.

      Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks in the contest while recording only one strikeout. The Giants scratched out a run against him on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Then they piled on for five more in the third inning that included run-scoring knocks from Jorge Soler, Andrew Bailey and Matt Chapman. Glasnow generated seven swings and misses on only 61 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of 21 percent.       Hader struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Mets.

      Advice: The Astros' late comeback resulted in a save chance, and Hader converted with ease. He's picked up five saves over 11 outings in June while surrendering four runs and posting a 16:1 K:BB across 10.2 innings for the month. Overall, he's 12-for-13 in save chances with a 3.68 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 59:11 K:BB through 36.2 innings this season, with the Astros' mediocre play being the main reason for his reduced saves total, though the team is trending up by going 9-2 over the last two weeks.       Sewald struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Athletics.

      Advice: Sewald has picked up saves in four straight appearances and in seven of his 10 outings in June. The closer has been virtually untouchable this month, allowing two hits, two walks and two hit batsmen while striking out six over 8.2 innings.       Tanner Houck gave up eight runs — seven earned — over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Padres on Saturday.

      Advice: Houck has been fantastic for the overwhelming majority of 2024. There wasn’t anything fantastic about this outing, other than he gave reason for San Diego hitters to have some fun. The right-hander gave up nine hits with one walk, and while he was able to at least add four punchouts, they don’t compensate for giving up three homers. Houck hadn’t allowed more than three runs since April 12, so it’s fair to write this one off as a “pobody’s nerfect.” He’s scheduled to face the Yankees on Friday, and he’ll try and lower an ERA that jumped from 2.18 to 2.67 after this clunker.       Paul Sewald tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Athletics on Saturday.

      Rafaela started at shortstop and went 3-for-4 with a double in Friday's 9-2 loss to San Diego.

      Advice: Rafaela is having a productive June, but he entered the game on a 1-for-18 run. The multi-hit effort was his eighth of the month, and the infielder/outfielder is batting .417 (20-for-48) over the last 13 games. This was his third start at shortstop in as many appearances, as manager Alex Cora adjusts to get his hottest bats in the lineup; Jarren Duran slotted in as the center field while David Hamilton manned second base Friday.
