• Brandon Lowe homers off a lefty in win
Brandon Lowe went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI in a win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

Advice: Despite the Marlins starting left-hander Jesus Luzardo, the Rays decided to keep Brandon Lowe in the lineup. The 29-year-old rewarded them with a 377-foot blast that left the bat at 108.7 mph for a three-run home run. He later added a two-run double, also off Luzardo, which was hit 107 mph. Lowe has frequently been on the bench against lefties, so the fact that Tampa Bay even chose to start him against Luzardo is one thing, but the fact that it went as well as it did is another. We wouldn’t overreact to one start, but if Lowe is going to play against lefties, that would give him more fantasy value than we had anticipated. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Candelario cracks seventh home run Monday
Jeimer Candelario went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: Candelario’s home run was his seventh of the season. He’s had two hits in each of his last three games and is now 12-for-40 (.300) with three home runs and six RBI over his last 10 games. Candelario seems to be heating up at the plate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:53 pm

  • Swipes 10th bag
Marte went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Monday's 8-7 win over Washington.

Advice: Marte has been on a heater, recording multiple hits four times in his past five games. During that span, the 35-year-old is batting .473 (9-for-19) with four RBI, two steals and three runs scored. Marte is now up to a .275 batting average on the season with six home runs, 23 RBI, 30 runs scored and 10 steals in 224 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:36 pm

  • Goes deep in win
Candelario went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Monday's win over the Rockies.

Advice: Candelario belted a two-run shot in the third inning before adding a double and another run in the fifth. After an 11-game homerless drought in the middle of May, he's knocked three home runs over his last 11 contests. During that span, he's boosted his season OPS from .663 to .739 through 214 total plate appearances. It was also Candelario's third straight multi-hit performance and his first game all season with multiple extra-base hits. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:35 pm

  • Starling Marte posts three hits, steal in victory
Starling Marte went 3-for-5 with a stolen base on Monday in the Mets’ win over the Nationals.

Advice: Marte tallied three singles and also picked up his 10th theft of the season during Monday’s slugfest at Nationals Park. The 35-year-old veteran outfielder is in the midst of an unexpected late-career resurgence as he appears healthy and is really starting to hit his stride at the dish of late, slashing .357/.413/.571 with two homers and two steals over his last 15 games. • Officially sent to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Advice: Multiple reports after the Tigers' 8-4 win over the Red Sox on Sunday suggested that Torkelson was en route to Triple-A, but Detroit waited until shortly before Monday's series opener in Texas to make the move official. Torkelson slugged 31 home runs last season, and many anticipated another step forward in 2024, but it simply hasn't come together, with the former top prospect slashing just .201/.266/.330 with four home runs across 229 plate appearances. He'll be back in the majors eventually, but a reset at Toledo was deemed necessary. Mark Canha will draw the start at first base Monday, and Gio Urshela will also be an option at the position while Torkelson is out of the picture. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:04 pm

  • Tigers officially demote Torkelson to Triple-A
Tigers optioned 1B Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Torkelson was outstanding down the stretch for the Tigers last season, but he now has 1,318 major league plate appearances with a .218/.296/.386 line and he’s absolutely not making up for it with his defense. Triple-A is where he belongs right now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:02 pm

  • On base three times Sunday
Varsho went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: He was also caught stealing for the first time in six attempts, but overall it was a strong performance from Varsho, who got the start in center field and hit eighth. The 27-year-old has had trouble building momentum at the plate -- he hasn't hit safely in three straight games since early May -- and on the season he's slashing .213/.301/.454 with 10 homers, 30 RBI and 33 runs in 54 contests. • Launches first homer
Friedl went 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Friedl provided all the Reds would need in the second inning when he bopped a two-out, three-run home run to give Cincinnati a 4-0 lead. It was the first home run of the season for Friedl, who is coming back from a second stint on the injured list and has played just 10 games this season. As he gets more plate appearances -- just 43 so far -- Friedl's timing should get better and he should improve on his .167 average. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:25 am
