    Advice: Webb had a rough fifth inning, but other than that, he was his usually steady self. With the Giants' rotation in shambles due to injuries, getting a longer start out of Webb is a positive for the team's situation. He's gone at least six innings in 10 straight appearances, posting a 2.86 ERA over 66 innings with a 61:14 K:BB in that span. That's just a bit better than his 3.12 ERA for the year, which comes with a 1.22 WHIP and 97:26 K:BB across 112.1 innings through 18 starts. Webb's next start is projected to be at Atlanta.     Pivetta (4-5) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on seven hits and a walk over four-plus innings in a 9-2 loss to the Padres. He struck out four.

    Advice: The right-hander was cruising through four innings, but San Diego erupted for all nine of its runs in the fifth before Boston's pitching staff was able to secure an out. Pivetta served up a two-run homer to Kyle Higashioka to begin that offensive outburst, and he's been taken deep five times in his last three starts, stumbling to a 6.46 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over that stretch despite a 13:3 K:BB in 15.1 innings.     Logan Webb gave up two runs in seven innings against the Dodgers on Friday while not qualifying for a decision.

    Advice: Webb threw 62-of-93 pitches for strikes while walking three and fanning six. The right-hander gave up both runs in the fifth, and outside of that frame he was brilliant while lowering his ERA to 3.12 on the campaign. Webb isn’t immune to clunkers, but he’s been one of the best starting options in baseball since 2021. You already knew that, but it’s a good reminder.     Advice: The 25-year-old outfielder took Yusei Kikuchi deep in the sixth inning, giving the Yankees their first lead of the game before the floodgates opened late. The long ball was Soto's 20th of the season, and he has 60 RBI through 81 games -- only Aaron Judge (79) and Jose Ramirez (73) have driven in more runs in the American League so far this year.     Juan Soto went 2-for-4 with a loud three-run home run, a walk, and three runs scored in a 16-5 win for the Yankees over the Blue Jays on Friday.

    Advice: Soto’s sixth inning home run felt like a distant memory after the Yankees exploded for nine runs over the final two innings, but Yusei Kikuchi had shut them down to that point and the team seemed like they were reeling until Soto sent one deep into the right field stands.     Morton (5-4) earned the win Friday against Pittsburgh, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. He allowed three hits and one walk.

    Advice: The 40-year-old looked sharp over a 104-pitch outing, generating 15 whiffs -- including seven on his curveball alone -- to collect seven punchouts. Morton wrapped a successful June, firing a 3.10 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 28:13 K:BB across 29 innings. The Atlanta right-hander is slated to face the Giants at home in his next start.     Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

    Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52.     Charlie Morton held the Pirates scoreless through 6 1/3 innings on Friday in a 6-1 win. He struck out seven and walked one.

    Advice: Morton made his old team pay on Friday night as he dropped curveball after curveball on Pittsburgh’s lineup. This was also the first time Morton walked one or fewer since May 10th against the Mets (pre-Grimace) as he flashed especially good command with his sparsely thrown cutter.     Reds’ manager David Bell told reporters on Friday that Jeimer Candelario (knee) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Sunday.

    Advice: Candelario has missed each of the team’s last three games due to a knee issue and he’ll sit on Saturday as well. The team doesn’t want him to miss a full 10 days though and they’re very hopeful that he’ll be able to return to action on Sunday.
