  • Arenado (chest) out of lineup again Tuesday
Nolan Arenado (chest) is out of the Rockies' starting lineup again on Tuesday night.

Advice: Arenado left Sunday's series finale in St. Louis with a chest contusion and did not do any pregame work on Monday or Tuesday. Charlie Culberson will start at third base Tuesday night against the visiting Dodgers. Rotoworld.com

  • John Lackey (arm) on track to start Friday
John Lackey (arm) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday evening at Busch Stadium.

Advice: Lackey was skipped from his last turn in the Cardinals' starting rotation due to a case of dead arm, but he is in line to return Friday and is expected to do just that. The veteran right-hander owns a rough 5.05 ERA in 46 1/3 innings since joining St. Louis. Rotoworld.com

  • Teixeira sits Tuesday due to wrist discomfort
Mark Teixeira is out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Tuesday due to lingering wrist discomfort.

Advice: Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters that he'll rely on Teixeira to tell the team when he's ready to return. It's a day-to-day situation for now. Rotoworld.com

  • Hechavarria (arm) out of MIA lineup Tuesday
Adeiny Hechavarria is out of the Marlins' starting lineup on Tuesday due to a sore left arm.

Advice: Ed Lucas will start at shortstop against the Mets. Hechavarria missed some time earlier this season with discomfort in his left elbow, and this latest issue is thought to be related. He is day-to-day. Rotoworld.com

  • Rays officially promote INF Nick Franklin
Rays recalled INF Nick Franklin from Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Franklin is starting at second base and batting fifth in his Rays debut on Tuesday night against the Yankees. The 23-year-old hit .272/.366/.412 with 11 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 102 games this season between Triple-A Tacoma and Triple-A Durham. He was acquired from the Mariners in the David Price tride and is probably Tampa Bay's second baseman of the future. Rotoworld.com

  • Adams (oblique) returns to STL lineup Tues.
Matt Adams (oblique) is back in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Tuesday against the Brewers.

Advice: Adams has been dealing with a left oblique injury for much of this month and his offensive numbers have cratered. The Cardinals -- lacking a serviceable backup option at first base -- need to get him right down the stretch. Rotoworld.com

  • Bucs' Marte (elbow) back in lineup Tuesday
Starling Marte (elbow) is back in the Pirates' starting lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Marte was hit in the left elbow by a pitch Thursday and didn't start a game over the weekend against the Cubs, but he's ready to go it a go. He'll bat sixth in his return Tuesday. Rotoworld.com

  • Bryce Harper in Tuesday's lineup vs. Braves
Bryce Harper (flu) is in Tuesday's lineup against the Braves.

Advice: Harper left Monday's game with lightheadedness as a result of the flu, but it's not a big deal. He'll bat sixth Tuesday against Aaron Harang as the Nationals attempt to punch their ticket to the postseason. Rotoworld.com

  • Anthony Rizzo not in Cubs' lineup Tuesday

  • Trout goes 1-for-2 with three walks and a run
Mike Trout went 1-for-2 with three walks and a run scored in Monday's win over the Mariners.

Advice: Trout is now 4-for-23 (.174) off the Mariners' Hisashi Iwakuma. That's his worst batting average against any pitcher Trout has ever had 15 or more at-bats against. Fortunately, he's really, really good against everybody else. Trout is slashing .291/.381/.567 and is on pace for 37 homers, 116 RBI, 117 runs and 15 steals. Rotoworld.com

  • Trumbo blasts a salami, knocks in five runs
Mark Trumbo hit a grand slam to lead the Diamondbacks past the Giants 6-2 on Monday.

Advice: He finished 2-for-5 with five RBI, adding an RBI single in the seventh. The big damage came in the third frame, when Trumbo swatted a Ryan Vogelsong offering over the right field wall to plate Wade Miley, Chris Owings and A.J. Pollock. Trumbo has driven in 10 runs over his last five games. A hot finish would give a nice superficial boost to his disappointing slash line (.239/.303/.389). Rotoworld.com

  • Miley tosses 7 innings of one-run ball in win
Wade Miley held the Giants at bay on Monday, allowing only one run on seven hits across seven innings of a 6-2 win.

Advice: Miley struck out four and didn't walk a batter. Miley entered play 0-4 in his previous seven outings, but toting a 2.86 ERA in his last six, so he must have been pretty pleased to receive six runs of support tonight. The left-hander had a shouting match with skipper Kirk Gibson in his last start against the Dodgers, but Miley indicated he was just blowing off steam from a less-than-stellar night. No frustration tonight in improving to 8-11 with a 4.17 ERA. Miley caps a two-week start by traveling to Coors Field on Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • Wilin Rosario goes 3-for-4, homers
Wilin Rosario went 3-for-4 and homered against the Dodgers on Monday.

Advice: It's worth wondering what's in store for Rosario after his disappointing offensive season; despite all of his success in 2012 and 2013, the Rockies tried to sign Brian McCann last winter with the idea of moving Rosario out from behind the plate. There won't really be anywhere to move Rosario this winter, so he'll either remain a catcher or possibly get traded. It'd be a case of selling low for the Rockies, though. Rotoworld.com

  • Nori Aoki reaches five times in Royals' win
Nori Aoki went 4-for-4 with a double and a walk to lead the Royals to a 4-3 win over the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: Aoki doubled in a tie game in the bottom of the ninth, only to be replaced by a pinch-runner despite his plus speed. It ended up working out for the Royals, as the outrageously fast Terrence Gore scored from second on an infield single to win the game. Aoki is hitting .349 in 43 at-bats this month, though he's not doing much else to help fantasy owners at the moment. Rotoworld.com

  • Chad Qualls picks up save in return
Chad Qualls notched a save Monday in his first appearance since Sept. 6, pitching a scoreless ninth in the Astros' 3-1 win over the Indians.

Advice: The Astros went right back to Qualls in the closer's role tonight, and he retired three of the four batters he faced in his return from a hip problem. Since he needed just 10 pitches, he could get the call again in a save chance on Tuesday. Rotoworld.com

  • Anthony Rizzo walks off with homer in return
Anthony Rizzo hit a walkoff homer off Pedro Villarreal in the bottom of the ninth as the Cubs beat the Reds 1-0 on Monday.

Advice: At least the Cubs are still trying to win; the Reds could care less. Rizzo, playing for the first time since Aug. 26, was the only player on either team to have a multihit game tonight, going 2-for-4. The homer was his 31st of the year, which tops his 2013 total by eight. Rotoworld.com

  • Bryce Harper dealing with a bout of the flu
Bryce Harper is dealing with the flu.

  • Bryce Harper exits due to lightheadedness
Bryce Harper left Monday's game versus the Braves due to lightheadedness.

  • Nolan Arenado getting MRI on sore chest
Nolan Arenado will undergo an MRI on his chest Monday.

Advice: Arenado left Sunday's game with what the Rockies referred to as a chest contusion. The club doesn't expect the injury to be serious, but we won't know for sure until the MRI comes back. Consider Arenado day-to-day until further notice. Rotoworld.com

  • Rizzo (back) finally returns to Cubs' lineup
Anthony Rizzo (back) is in the Cubs' starting lineup on Monday night against the Reds.

Advice: Rizzo missed nearly three weeks with a back injury. The first baseman is batting .278/.375/.514 with 30 home runs and 71 RBI in 129 games and will look to finish off his breakout 2014 campaign with a bang. Rotoworld.com

  • Nolan Arenado exits after hard dive
Nolan Arenado left Sunday's game versus the Cardinals with an apparent injury.

  • Matt Adams nursing oblique issue again
Matt Adams is not in Sunday's lineup after aggravating his left oblique issue Saturday.

Advice: We figured something was up when he wasn't in Sunday's lineup against a right-hander. Adams first tweaked the oblique a week and a half ago but returned after missing just two games. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined this time. Daniel Descalso is at first base Sunday, and he could share time there with Xavier Scruggs while Adams is out. Rotoworld.com

  • John Lackey going through 'dead arm' phase
John Lackey admitted Sunday that he's going through a "dead arm" phase.

  • Cardinals to skip John Lackey's turn
The Cardinals have elected to skip John Lackey's next turn in the rotation.

Advice: Lackey's velocity has been down and he's struggled in his last three outings, so the Cards will give him some extra rest. They'll go with Lance Lynn, Adam Wainwright and Shelby Miller on regular rest against the Brewers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Lackey will take the ball next weekend versus the Reds. Rotoworld.com

  • Chad Qualls (hip) reports improvement
Chad Qualls (hip) said Saturday that he's feeling better.

Advice: Qualls is dealing with an issue in his right hip that he thinks might be nerve-related. He's not sure when (or if) he'll be cleared to return to action, but it does appear a bit of progress is being made. The Astros have used Josh Fields and Tony Sipp in the ninth inning with Qualls out. Rotoworld.com

  • Tampa Bay to promote infielder Nick Franklin
Bob Sutton of the Burlington Times-News reports that the Rays will recall Nick Franklin.

Advice: Triple-A Durham finished their International League playoff run Saturday, so Franklin will now get a chance with the big club. The Rays will finish a series in Toronto on Sunday, so Franklin seems likely to join the club on Monday in Tampa. Acquired from the Mariners in the three-team deal in July, Franklin has hit .272/.366/.412 with 11 homers and 11 steals at the Triple-A level this season and should see pretty regular playing time down the stretch. He's worth owning in deeper leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Mike Trout homers twice in Angels' win
Mike Trout went 3-for-3 with two solo homers and an intentional walk Saturday in the Angels' 5-2 defeat of the Astros.

Advice: Trout collected his 33rd and 34th homers and his 39th double. Really, if there was any question left, he might have just locked up AL MVP honors tonight. Trout leads the league with 107 runs scored and 107 RBI, he's moved into a tie for third in homers and he's third behind Jose Abreu and Victor Martinez in OPS, while obviously having greater defensive value than those two. • Trumbo goes 3-for-5, drives in three vs. Pads
Mark Trumbo finished 3-for-5 with three RBI as the Diamondbacks beat the Padres 10-4 on Saturday.

Advice: Trumbo smacked a two-run single in the first inning and later scored on a wild pitch. He then plated Chris Owings on a fielder's choice in the second and doubled in the fifth before singling and scoring again in the eighth. Trumbo seems to be finding a groove now after struggling initially in his return from a fractured foot. Rotoworld.com

  • Starling Marte (elbow) out again on Saturday
Starling Marte (elbow) remains out of the Pirates' starting lineup Saturday versus the Cubs.

Advice: Marte has been sidelined taking a pitch off his left elbow Thursday. X-rays were negative but he has a significant contusion and some swelling. The speedster will be available as a pinch-runner on Saturday, but there is no timetable for his full-time return. Rotoworld.com

  • Mike Trout doubles, triples in win
Mike Trout doubled, tripled and drove in two runs as the Angels topped the Astros 11-3 on Friday.

Advice: Trout also scored twice, giving him 104 runs and 105 RBI through 143 games. He leads the AL in both categories. The win was the Angels' ninth straight, giving them an 11-game lead in the AL West. Their magic number is just seven with 16 games to go. Rotoworld.com

  • Arenado has RBI double vs. Cardinals
Nolan Arenado had an RBI double Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: It was the only offense of the game for the Rockies and ended a 21-inning scoreless drought for the club. Arenado is batting a modest .216 (8-for-37) this month, but he collected four home runs and eight RBI along the way. Not surprisingly, the 23-year-old has produced significantly better at home than on the road this season, but he still figures to begin 2015 as a top-12 third baseman in mixed fantasy leagues. • Hechavarria plates run in loss to Phillies
Adeiny Hechavarria drove home the Marlins lone run in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: His RBI single in the sixth inning plated Jeff Baker, tying the game at 1-1. He finished the evening 2-for-4, raising his season slash to .280/.311/.364. He doesn't provide much in the way of power or speed, but is worth using in NL-only formats for his consistent at-bats. Rotoworld.com

  • Anthony Rizzo (back) won't play this weekend
Cubs manager Rick Renteria said Friday that Anthony Rizzo (back) is unlikely to play this weekend.

  • Chad Qualls could have nerve issue in hip
Chad Qualls is dealing with an issue in his right hip that he thinks might be nerve-related.

Advice: The ailment was originally described as a glute problem, but it appears it's more in his hip. "I don't know if it's just tight hip or something like that that's putting pressure on kind of a nerve back there, get like just a warm feeling - just in like a six-inch feeling just down kind of the side of my leg. When I sit down or laid down it wouldn't hurt, and then if I walk around it gets irritated." Qualls is receiving treatment and is being considered day-to-day, but there's no guarantee that he makes it back this season. Josh Fields and Tony Sipp have picked up saves for the Astros over the last week and both need to be owned in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Starling Marte has left elbow contusion
Starling Marte has been diagnosed with a left elbow contusion.

  • Starling Marte exits game after HBP on arm
Starling Marte left Thursday's game versus the Phillies with left arm discomfort after being hit by a pitch.

Advice: Marte was plunked by A.J. Burnett in the first inning, and although he initially stayed in, he eventually exited after the top of the third. It's not clear at this point how long he might be out, but the Pirates should provide more on his status after the game. Rotoworld.com

  • Lackey ejected in third inning against Reds
John Lackey was ejected in the third inning of Wednesday's start against the Reds for arguing balls and strikes.

Advice: Lackey was apparently displeased with home plate umpire Tom Hallion's strike zone, and his thoughts weren't appreciated. Lackey had allowed two runs on four hits over his two innings of work before being tossed. Tyler Lyons replaced him on the mound. Rotoworld.com

  • Chad Qualls dealing with glute injury
Chad Qualls was unavailable to pitch Tuesday due to a right glute issue.

Advice: It explains why Josh Fields was used in the ninth inning and converted his second straight save. Qualls is being listed as day-to-day, so it shouldn't be a long-term issue. Still, the veteran reliever has also struggled lately, so picking up Fields just in case might not be a bad idea. Rotoworld.com

  • Miley only finishes 2 innings in dud vs. LAD
Wade Miley made it through just two innings, allowing three runs on four walks and five hits, in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: This epic dud came out of nowhere, and comes at a most inopportune time with fantasy playoffs beginning in head-to-head formats. Miley was 0-2 with a 1.69 ERA in his last four starts, but he received a grand total of only three runs during that time. He didn't receive any support this time either -- Arizona lost 5-1 -- but Miley wouldn't have been around for a decision even if his teammates had decided to lug their lumber to the yard. • Rizzo (back) hopes to return by this weekend
Anthony Rizzo (back) hopes to return to the Cubs' lineup by the end of the week.

Advice: If not by the weekend, Rizzo thinks he'll "for sure" be ready to play during the Cubs' homestand that begins next Monday. Manager Rick Renteria was more cautious regarding a potential timetable, saying, "I don't want to speculate on that part." Rizzo worked out for the second straight day Tuesday, taking some infield and light batting practice. It looked likely last week that his season was over, but it appears the first baseman will make it back after all. Rotoworld.com

Anthony Rizzo (back) took some ground balls and a few swings in the batting cage Monday.

Advice: Rizzo has been out since August 26 with a mild lower back strain, but he's now hopeful that he'll be able to return this weekend. However, Cubs manager Rick Renteria wants to see more before talking about a timeline. "I'll reserve my optimism," Renteria said. "Today is the first day where he's gone out there. He's trying to see how his body is feeling, but I'll just say we'll keep digging it as it comes." Rotoworld.com

  • Starling Marte goes 3-for-5, homers
Starling Marte went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and two RBI against the Phillies on Monday.

Advice: Marte looked like a good candidate for a minor league stint a month into the season, but since May 1, he's hit .295/.362/.480 in 329 at-bats. Factoring in his strong defense in left, that line has made him one of the NL's better players of late. Rotoworld.com

  • Matt Adams hits 15th homer in win
Matt Adams' 15th homer of the year was a three-run shot off the Reds' Logan Ondrusek on Monday.

Advice: Ondrusek had just entered the game as an injury replacement for Pedro Villarreal. A left-hander would have been a better play for the Reds, but Bryan Price had already used his two lefties not named Aroldis Chapman. • Hammel fans seven in no-decision vs. Astros
Jason Hammel struck out seven while allowing two runs over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Sunday.

Advice: Hammel held the Astros scoreless until the seventh, when they plated both their runs against the right-hander. He gave up five hits and a walk on the day. It was another good start for Hammel after a rough beginning with the A's. He's now got a 4.70 ERA in the American League, and he'll look to improve on those numbers Friday at the Mariners. • Arenado hits 17th home run in win over Padres
Nolan Arenado hit his 17th home run of the year in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Arenado has been on a home run binge of late, with Sunday's counting as his third in his last four games. Even with an injury that cost him 37 games in the middle of the season, Arenado's 17 homers and 59 RBI are both more than he had during his rookie campaign. Chad Qualls blew his sixth save of the season Saturday in the Astros' loss to the A's.

Advice: And it was his fifth blown save of the year against Oakland. Qualls was called on in the bottom of the ninth with runners at first and third and the Astros leading by two. He gave up a game-tying double to Josh Reddick and then Jed Lowrie hit a walkoff single. Yikes. Rotoworld.com
