    • Sitting against southpaw
Abreu is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: With southpaw Kyle Harrison on the bump for the Giants, the lefty-hitting Abreu will retreat to the bench for the series finale. The Red Sox will have Tyler O'Neill move from his usual spot in left field to replace Abreu in right. Rotowire.com Today, 7:32 am

    • Swipes fifth bag
Abreu went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 win against the Giants.

Advice: Abreu stole a base in three straight games between April 15 and April 18, but he hadn't notched any thefts over his subsequent 10 contests coming into Wednesday. The 24-year-old outfielder continues to cement his place in the starting lineup, as he's slashing .316/.395/.519 with two homers, 12 RBI, 14 runs and five thefts on the campaign. Abreu began the campaign as Boston's fourth outfielder but has since emerged as the team's everyday right fielder and cleanup hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:25 pm

    • Belts go-ahead grand slam
Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a grand slam during Wednesday's 6-2 win over Cincinnati.

Advice: Cronenworth swatted his third-career grand slam in the seventh inning off reliever Fernando Cruz, breaking the 2-2 tie and giving the Padres the eventual win. The first baseman has generated a hit in six straight games with five extra-base hits and nine total RBI during that stretch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:33 pm

    • Scratched Wednesday
Moreno was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Moreno underwent a dental procedure before Wednesday's game and was scratched as a precaution. Tucker Barnhart will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth, and Moreno should be able to return to the lineup Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:27 pm

    • Slam Diego: Jake Cronenworth powers Padres to win
Jake Cronenworth blasted a tie-breaking seventh-inning grand slam on Wednesday, powering the Padres to a 6-2 victory over the Reds.

Advice: Cronenworth put San Diego ahead for good with a towering grand slam to right field off Reds standout reliever Fernando Cruz in the seventh inning. It was his fifth long ball of the season and lone hit in three at-bats. The 30-year-old on-base machine has helped hold things together this season as a mainstay in the heart of San Diego’s lineup. • Mason Miller silences Pirates in non-save spot
Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

Advice: Miller got the call to protect a four-run lead in the final frame after needing 16 pitches to close out Tuesday’s victory less than 24 hours ago. He got Jack Suwinski to ground out and fanned Henry Davis before coaxing a game-ending ground out from Ke’Bryan Hayes. He averaged 100.8 mph on his fastball and needed just 10 pitches to spin a perfect frame. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has reeled off 12 consecutive scoreless appearances since April 2, and has converted eight saves to go along with a microscopic 1.26 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 29/4 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings of work. Simply put, he’s one of the best relievers in baseball already. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:07 pm

    • Begins serving suspension Wednesday
Siri (thigh) had his three-game suspension reduced to two games following an appeal and began serving the ban in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Brewers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Siri was handed the suspension as a result of his role in Tuesday's bench-clearing brawl with the Brewers. He ended up being held out of the lineup Wednesday with a sore left thigh, and that game will count toward his time served for the suspension. He'll serve the final game of his suspension Friday against the Mets, but he should be ready to play Saturday, assuming the thigh issue isn't still presenting complications for him. • Freddy Peralta suspended five games
Freddy Peralta was suspended five games after hitting Jose Siri on Tuesday.

Advice: Peralta was having another stellar outing for the Brewers on Tuesday and the only run he allowed was a home run from Jose Siri. Later in the game, Peralta hit Siri in the sixth inning which was deemed an intentional act by the home plate umpire and led to his ejection, as well as Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy. Peralta will appeal the five-game suspension handed to him by Major League Baseball, while Murphy was given a two-game suspension which he is serving starting on Wednesday. • Jose Siri suspended three games
Jose Siri was suspended three games after getting in a brawl with Abner Uribe on Tuesday.

Advice: Siri will reportedly appeal his three-game suspension. The fight occurred in the eighth inning when Siri and Brewers reliever Abner Uribe exchanged words near first base. “When I went to first base, I just went there normal, and he kind of hit me on the shoulder,” Siri said. “So I asked him why did he do that? And he just said, ‘Because I felt like it.’” Earlier in the game, Siri was hit by a pitch from Freddy Peralta that resulted in Milwaukee’s starter getting ejected. That moment didn’t sit well with Uribe thus the brawl happening which cleared both benches. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:49 am
