• Homers in return
Heyward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a hit-by-pitch in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Heyward returned from a back injury that cost him nearly seven weeks. He delivered a big hit with his eighth-inning blast, which was his first homer in five games this season. The outfielder has added four RBI and four runs scored. Heyward is likely to command at least a strong-side platoon role in right field, which he excelled at with a .269/.340/.473 slash line over 374 plate appearances in 2023. • Belts another leadoff homer
Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Betts' last two homers have been of the leadoff variety, and they're his only two long balls in May. He's hitting .283 this month, dropping his season-long batting average to a still-stunning .341 through 47 contests. Betts has added eight homers, 29 RBI, 40 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples over 218 plate appearances while serving as the everyday leadoff hitter. • Jason Heyward homers in return from injured list
Jason Heyward hit a two-run homer against the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Heyward’s return from the injured list Friday was a successful one, as he took Alexis Diaz deep for his first homer of the 2024 season. He should see starts against right-handed pitching, but even in this loaded Dodger lineup, he’s a tough sell as a fantasy option in season leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:40 pm

  • Alex Kirilloff homers in loss
Alex Kirilloff goes 1-for-3 with a solo home run and walk on Friday against the Guardians.

Advice: Kirilloff has had yet another disappointing season, but this home run is a welcome sign of life. Still, his poor plate discipline metrics and middling power doesn’t instill much confidence moving forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:42 pm

  • Brandon Marsh delivers RBI double in win over Nats
Brandon Marsh walked and delivered an RBI double on Friday night, helping to lead the Phillies to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Nationals.

Advice: Marsh drew a walk off of Jake Irvin to lead off the second inning and ultimately came around to score on a wild pitch. He then smacked a run-scoring double off of Irvin in the third inning that extended the Phillies’ advantage to 4-1. On the season, the 26-year-old outfielder is now hitting .248/.309/.429 with six homers, 23 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 40 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:00 pm

  • Back in starting lineup
Heyward (back) is starting in right field and batting eighth in Friday's game against the Reds, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Heyward appeared in just five games for the Dodgers before landing on the 10-day injured list April 3 due to lower-back tightness, going 3-for-14 with two RBI. It took about a month for the 34-year-old to return to baseball activities, and he appeared in two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier this week, going 0-for-6 with one walk and two strikeouts. • Dodgers activate Jason Heyward (back) from IL
Dodgers activated OF Jason Heyward from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: As anticipated, the 34-year-old slugger will slot right back into the Dodgers’ lineup on Friday night — starting in right field and batting eighth against Reds’ right-hander Frankie Montas. No word yet on the corresponding move to activate Heyward, but it’s definitely not Andy Pages, who is starting in center field and batting seventh for the Dodgers on Friday night. • Heyward (back) done with rehab
Jason Heyward (back) has finished rehabbing his lower back issue that has sidelined him since late March.

Advice: Heyward was with the team at Dodgers Stadium on Thursday and manager Dave Roberts told reporters he will be activated soon. It remains a question what the corresponding move for Heyward’s activation will be. Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor have both struggled this season, but they can also play multiple positions and Taylor is owed $13 million in 2025. James Outman was a revelation last year, but he has options remaining and is hitting .147 this year. Outman could be the de facto choice. Heyward slashed .269/.340/.473 in 124 games with the Dodgers last year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:58 am

  • Crushes first homer
Loperfido went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Athletics while also drawing a walk.

Advice: Loperfido jumped on a changeup from Joey Estes with two outs in the bottom of the third inning and sent it over the wall in right field for his first big-league home run, capping off a six-run inning for Houston. The rookie outfielder has gotten off to a fantastic start and has now hit safely in five straight games. Over that stretch he's batting .388 (7-for-18) with three RBI and three runs scored.
