    Castillo allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out three over five innings Sunday against the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

    Advice: The Twins struck early with a run in the first on two base hits. Castillo went on to retire 11 of the next 12 batters he faced but then ran into more trouble in the fifth, allowing a double and two more singles, which led to another pair of runs for the Twins. He was able to work his way through the inning, but his day would end there at 77 pitches. Castillo managed to not give up any free passes for the first time since May 12, though he's also failed to complete six innings in four of his last five starts. He still holds a respectable 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 103:30 K:BB in 104.2 innings and projects to take the mound again to kick off a weekend series with Toronto. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago
     
  • Stays hot Sunday
    Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.

    Advice: Pasquantino has gone 11-for-27 (.407) with nine RBI across his last seven games, ending June on a high note. The first baseman's recent surge has him up to a .247/.321/.436 slash line for the year, nearly identical to his marks over 61 contests in 2023. He's added 10 home runs, 55 RBI, 39 runs scored, 21 doubles and two triples through 82 games this year, playing on a near-everyday basis between first base and designated hitter.     Helsley struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save over Cincinnati on Sunday.

    Advice: Helsley efficiently rolled through the Reds' 2-3-4 hitters with just 10 pitches. He extended his MLB save lead and became the first pitcher in the 2024 season to reach 30 saves. He's converted those 30 saves consecutively after blowing his first opportunity of the year March 30. Helsley is sporting a 2.61 ERA with a 46:16 K:BB through 38 innings.   • Luis Castillo grabs a bat Sunday against Twins
    Luis Castillo struck out three and allowed three runs over five innings on Sunday in a no-decision against the Twins.

    Advice: What a mess. Castillo was forced to grab a bat, and struck out looking in the fourth inning, after Seattle lost the designated hitter earlier in the contest when Mitch Haniger left the game following a hit by pitch. The 31-year-old righty was simply outdueled by Twins starter Joe Ryan, who limited the Mariners to just a pair of runs into the sixth inning before the bullpen took over and pretty much shut things down completely from there on out. He’ll bring a respectable 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 103/30 K/BB ratio across 104 2/3 innings (18 starts) into a home outing on Friday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:31 pm
     
  • Jo Adell smacks two-run homer Sunday in loss
    Jo Adell hammered a two-run homer on Sunday in the Angels’ loss to the Tigers.

    Advice: Adell made things interesting in the ninth inning with a two-out homer off Tigers reliever Shelby Miller to bring the Halos within one run at the time, but their surreal comeback effort came up just short, and their six-game winning streak was also snapped in the process. The 25-year-old has cratered back to Earth in June after such a promising start to the year. He’s batting .139 (11-for-79) with two homers, one steal and 26 strikeouts since June 1.   • Rounding into form
    Cole (1-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on three hits, a walk and two hit batsmen over five innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out six.

    Advice: Cole continues to struggle with his command as he rounds into form following a two-plus month stint on the IL with a nerve irritation in his elbow, but Sunday's performance represented a major step in the right direction. After walking four and allowing four homers in his previous start, Cole allowed a single run in the third, then struck out three of the last six batters he faced as he sent the Blue Jays down in order in the fourth and fifth innings to close out his day. The five innings pitched, 90 pitches thrown, one run allowed and six strikeouts each represented a season-best total for Cole, who continues to inch his way back toward his normal workload.     Ryan Helsley pitched a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Reds on Sunday.

    Advice: Hensley’s save was his 30th and he recorded two strikeouts in the process. His ERA is 2.61 on the season. Helsley’s well on his way to a 40-save season and anything beyond that would just be a monster year for fantasy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:57 pm
     
  • Gerrit Cole wins, rights ship against Blue Jays
    Gerrit Cole scattered three hits and a walk across five innings on Sunday in an 8-1 win over the Blue Jays. He allowed one run and struck out six.

    Advice: This was the first time this season Cole looked like himself. His fastball velocity was much more consistent than it had been in either of his first two starts and he showed no hesitation in challenging the Blue Jays hitters with it. He also showed better command of his secondaries and the Yankees let him work all the way up to 90 pitches. While not perfect, this was the kind of start we needed to see from Cole.
