  • Wheeler goes seven, strikes out eight in win
    Zack Wheeler allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Phillies’ 12-1 victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

    Advice: Wheeler gave up two hits, walked none and struck out eight. The win was his ninth on the year. It was a big time bounce back from Wheeler, who had allowed eight runs to the Orioles in his last start. He looked like his normal self while dominating the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Wheeler’s ERA is now 2.73 on the season. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Marlins at home next weekend.

  • Can't complete five innings
    Paddack allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

    Advice: Paddack again struggled against Oakland, though his last start was worse as he allowed five runs in 2.1 innings. The right-hander has a poor 5.29 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 70:18 K:BB over 78.1 innings through 15 starts this season.   • Chris Paddack ineffective again against A’s
    Chris Paddack picked up no decision Friday against the A’s after being charged for three runs in 4 2/3 innings.

    Advice: Paddack gave up five hits, and he also had issues with control as seen in three walks and 52-of-82 pitches landing for strikes. It’s a better outing then Sunday’s struggles against the Athletics, but that’s not saying much since he gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings in that start. The 28-year-old now has an unhealthy 5.28 ERA on the season, and he’ll try and get on track against the Diamondbacks next week. Rotoworld Friday, 9:08 pm

  • Tarik Skubal gives up two homers in loss to Braves
    Tarik Skubal surrendered five runs — four earned — in four innings Wednesday in a loss to the Braves.

    Advice: Skubal struck out seven and gave up only five hard-hit balls. Unfortunately, two of those hard-hit balls went 426 and 407 feet, as Skubal allowed two homers for just the second time this season. It’s the fourth time this season that he’s allowed exactly four earned runs. He’s given up a total of nine earned runs in his other 11 outings. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:31 pm
     
  • Takes second straight loss
    Skubal (8-3) took the loss Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out seven.

    Advice: Most of the damage against Skubal came via the long ball Wednesday -- he gave up a two-run homer to Sean Murphy in the third inning before Ramon Laureano tacked on a solo shot in the fourth. The 27-year-old Skubal has now lost back-to-back starts for the first time this season -- he's given up eight earned runs over 10.1 innings in that span. The left-hander still sports a solid 2.50 ERA on the year with a 0.97 WHIP and 105:18 K:BB across 90 innings. Skubal is lined up for another tough matchup next week at home versus the Phillies.     Lopez didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Tampa Bay, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk across four innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: Four of the five runs attributed to Lopez came via the long ball, with Randy Arozarena launching a three-run homer in the first inning and Brandon Lowe notching a solo home run in the fifth, marking Lopez's seventh consecutive start allowing a round-tripper. The 28-year-old has allowed five or more runs in four of his last six appearances, owning an 8.94 ERA during that stretch and ballooning his ERA to a career-worst 5.63 overall.   • Pablo López hit hard on Tuesday in no-decision
    Pablo López was crushed for five runs over four innings on Tuesday in a no-decision the Rays.

    Advice: The ball was flying on Tuesday night at Target Field as López was tagged for seven hits, including a pair of homers, before a lengthy rain delay brought his outing to a close. He finished with three strikeouts and only issued one walk. The surface results haven’t been inspiring this season, but he still holds a strong 3.47 xFIP, which seems to indicate that he’s been extremely unlucky.
