    Bleday hit leadoff for the first time this season in a loss to the Angels on Monday, going 1-for-4.

    Advice: Max Schuemann led off Saturday and Sunday against the Twins following Abraham Toro's (hamstring) placement on the injured list, but the rookie went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts in that pair of games. That led to manager Mark Kotsay shaking things up Monday, deploying Bleday in the leadoff role for the first time. While the slugging outfielder may not seem like the prototypical candidate for the job on the surface, Bleday does have a solid .335 on-base percentage, 10.7 percent walk rate and 18.4 percent strikeout rate that speak to a level of plate discipline befitting a spot atop the order.     Castellanos went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI in Saturday's 12-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: The 32-year-old slugger was hot from the jump, lofting a sacrifice fly in the first inning before crushing a two-run homer to left field off Scott McGough in the fifth and adding a two-run single in the sixth.     Bleday went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Twins.

    Advice: Bleday knotted the score with his solo blast in the bottom of the first inning, though it proved to be futile when Minnesota put up seven runs in the following frame. The homer was Bleday's 11th of the campaign, establishing a new career-best mark. The center fielder has also posted a career-high 28 RBI, 22 doubles and three triples while scoring 35 runs and slashing .256/.341/.472 through 319 plate appearances.     Advice: Alvarez has gone 4-for-12 with two homers over three games since returning from a family matter. The slugger has hit seven of his 16 long balls this season over 17 games in June, batting .359 (23-for-64) in that span.     Nick Castellanos went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

    Advice: Castellanos’ home run was his 11th of the season and went so far he started removing his protective elbow pad before he even exited the batter’s box. In all, he had a sacrifice fly, two-run home run and two-run double. Castellanos has struggled this season with a .225 average and .672 OPS, but the Phillies lineup still provides opportunities to drive in runs as he now has 37 RBI on the year.   • Yordan Alvarez homers as Astros top Orioles
    Yordan Alvarez hit a two-run homer to help the Astros defeat the Orioles on Saturday.

    Advice: Alvarez hit his 16th homer of the season when he connected on an offering from Corbin Burnes. The pair of RBI gives the 26-year-old slugger 41 on the season.
