• Jakob Junis steps in for first save against Rockies
Jakob Junis struck out one batter over two scoreless innings to earn the save against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Trevor Megill got the night off after pitching in back-to-back games. Junis stepped in and shut the Rockies down over the final two frames with a three-run lead to earn his first save of the season. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Colin Rea blanks Rockies over seven innings in win
Colin Rea tossed seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Rea made his most impressive start of the season on Wednesday, holding the Rockies scoreless in Colorado across seven frames. He scattered six hits and struck out four batters with no walks, tossing 67-of-97 pitches for strikes. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 3.34 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 66/28 K/BB ratio across 94 1/3 innings into a start against the Pirates in Milwaukee on Tuesday. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Michael Wacha strikes out eight Rays in win
Michael Wacha allowed just one run across six frames on Wednesday in the Royals’ 4-2 win over the Rays. He struck out eight, walked three, and gave up just three hits en route to a victory.

Advice: The eight punch outs matched a season-high for Wacha as he’s not gone eight straight starts allowing two or fewer earned runs with a stint on the injured list in-between. He did his usual dance of cutters and changeups en route to this fantastic start. While not flashy, Wacha remains incredibly steady. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Dakota Hudson surrenders three runs in loss
Dakota Hudson allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Brewers on Wednesday.

Advice: Hudson surrendered a solo homer to Christian Yelich in the first inning. A walk, wild pitch, and a base hit brought a second run in to score for the Brewers in the second inning. Hudson later loaded the bases in the fifth and walked in a run before he was replaced on the mound with two outs in the frame. The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.84 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and a 48/46 K/BB ratio across 86 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Reds in Cincinnati on Monday. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Ryan Pepiot all over the place against Royals
Ryan Pepiot labored through four innings on Wednesday against the Royals. He allowed four hits and three walks without striking out a batter in a no-decision.

Advice: Pepiot could not place his fastball in this one. Too many were in the heart of the zone and so many more were way off the plate. Of the 43 he threw, the Royals swung-and-missed at just one and took only four called strikes. That’s untenable for a pitch he threw 49% of the time. Without it working, he kept falling behind and had to grind through difficult innings. Things will not get easier in his next scheduled start against the Yankees. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

  • Zack Wheeler whiffs seven in no-decision vs. Cubs
Zack Wheeler recorded seven strikeouts and allowed two runs over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: Wheeler gave up only five hits with a pair of run-scoring doubles from Cubs rookie Pete Crow-Armstrong accounting for all of the damage against him across six frames. He induced 13 swinging strikes and finished with a 28 percent CSW. The 34-year-old fantasy ace has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 15 of his 18 starts so far this season. He’ll bring a stellar 2.74 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 119/33 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings (18 starts) into a challenging home matchup against the Dodgers in his penulatimate outing prior to the Midsummer Classic. • Shota Imanaga strikes out eight in no-decision
Shota Imanaga struck out eight and yielded three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Phillies.

Advice: Imanaga was cruising along early before giving up a solo homer to Phillies backstop Rafael Marchán in the third inning and a two-run blast to All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm in his final frame of work. He generated 13 swinging strikes and finished with a 28 percent CSW. He’ll carry a sparkling 3.16 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 92/15 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (16 starts) into a tough road tilt against the Orioles on Tuesday in his penulatimate outing prior to the All-Star break. • David Festa gets obliterated in loss to Tigers
David Festa was obliterated in Wednesday night’s loss to the Tigers, giving up seven runs on nine hits over his five frames.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, Festa piled up six strikeouts on the night and didn’t walk a batter. His trouble in this one came from his inability to keep the ball in the yard as he served up a grand slam to Carson Kelly in the third inning, a solo shot to Wenceel Perez in the third and a two-run blast off the bat of Riley Greene in the fifth. Festa got 13 swings and misses on 81 pitches in the ballgame, registering a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries an uninspiring 10.80 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and an 8/1 K/BB ratio (10 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the White Sox in Chicago.

  • Yusei Kikuchi chased in sixth inning
Yusei Kikuchi allowed two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Astros. He struck out five and walked two in a no-decision.

Advice: Kikuchi was cruising right along until the sixth inning when Yordan Alvarez smacked a lead-off homer and Jeremy Peña’s two-out double forced him from the game. Those who play in quality start leagues will surely be frustrated, but Kikuchi still had a solid start. His fastball had great life and averaged over 96 MPH for the fourth straight start as he mixed his curveball, changeup, and slider off it nicely. Rotoworld Today, 7:12 pm
