• Mark Vientos launches solo homer as Mets roll
Mark Vientos smashed his seventh home run of the season on Sunday night as the Mets took care of business against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Advice: The 24-year-old third baseman demolished a 451-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Tyson Miller in the eighth inning that extended the Mets’ lead to 5-2. That would be his lone hit in four at-bats on the night. For the season, he’s hitting a healthy .289/.344/.526 with seven homers and 18 RBI. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:22 pm

  • Josh Smith homers in win
Josh Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Smith took Sam Long deep 383 feet at 102.2 mph for his seventh home run on the season. The 26-year-old has been brilliant filling in for Josh Jung, hitting .303/.391/.478 on the year. Considering his ability to play all over the field, he should be able to fight for consistent playing time even when Jung returns. Provided he keeps hitting like this. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:01 pm

  • Back at third base for now
Smith started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-0 win over Kansas City.

Advice: Smith made a second consecutive start in the field after serving as a designated hitter for a pair of games. He had been dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss four games before returning as the DH. Now that he's back in the field, the question becomes how long he will be there. Third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) rejoined the team Friday and will take live batting practice Tuesday. If all goes well, Jung could be activated off the 60-day injured list afterward. The Rangers would like to keep Smith's bat in the lineup; he's batting .304/.393/.469 over a career-high 259 plate appearances. The lefty hitter could serve as the primary DH; he owns an .857 OPS against lefties and an .863 OPS against righties this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:36 am

  • Smith belts sixth home run in win Saturday
Josh Smith went 2-for-3 with a solo home run against the Royals on Saturday.

Advice: Smith’s home run was his sixth of the year. He’s 15-for-37 (.405) with three home runs, eight RBI and a stolen base in his last 13 games. Smith has stood out on the Rangers offense and found his way to the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Given Texas’ other options, they’ll continue to find playing time for him as long as he’s producing like this. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:46 pm

  • Sitting Saturday
Vientos isn't in the Mets' lineup Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: Vientos will get a day to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-9 with three strikeouts over his last two games. Jose Iglesias will get the nod at the hot corner instead while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:25 am

  • Clubs homer Friday
Castro went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Castro logged his fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games, with the lone exception being Thursday when he started the game on the bench. Batting .290 (20-for-69) in June, Castro has been impressive for the Twins, and it hasn't been just an empty average. He has nine extra-base hits, eight RBI and 13 runs scored over 19 contests this month. For the season, he's posted a .272/.357/.444 slash line with six homers, 24 RBI, 43 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a career-high 19 doubles through 76 games. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:30 pm

  • Long starting streak comes to end
Castro is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

Advice: For the first time since April 15, Castro will head to the bench, ending a streak of 59 consecutive starts. Though he opened the season in a utility role, Castro has solidified an everyday role thanks to his positional versatility and solid production at the plate. Austin Martin will enter the lineup at second base in place of Castro, who has been dialed in of late with a .368/.429/.605 slash line to go with one home run, six doubles, one stolen base, nine runs and four RBI over his last nine starts. • Remains at DH
Smith started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mets.

Advice: Smith returned from a hamstring injury Tuesday but has been limited to DH duties in both games, and he's still made an impact with his bat. In the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday, he doubled in a run then scored a game-tying run. Smith is 3-for-7 with a home run, a double, four RBI and an additional run scored in the two games at DH. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:46 am
