• Wilyer Abreu (ankle) set to return on Friday
Wilyer Abreu (ankle) is likely to return for Friday’s series opener against the Reds.

Advice: Abreu hammered a pair of solo homers on Wednesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Worcester and is expected to rejoin the club for the start of a series out in Cincinnati. The 24-year-old has been on the shelf since early June when he suffered a right ankle sprain when he slipped on the dugout steps. His return will provide a lift for the Red Sox, who are riding a five-game winning streak. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

  • Fernando Tatis Jr. in lineup Thursday vs. Brewers
Fernando Tatis Jr. is in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Brewers.

Advice: Tatis got a day off earlier this week to address a lingering quad issue that he’s been playing through for the last few weeks. It’s possible the nagging issue has impacted his performance recently as he’s batting .130 (3-for-23) over his last seven games. Rotoworld Today, 3:00 pm
  • Emmanuel Clase gets 22nd save against Mariners
Emmanuel Clase hurled a scoreless ninth to pick up a save against the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: It’s already the 22nd save of the season for Clase, and the hunt for a 50-save season is certainly on. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit and procured a strikeout, and the scoreless frame puts his ERA at a dazzling 0.76. A spectacular season for Clase, and there’s every reason to believe he can keep it going through the second half of the campaign. Rotoworld Today, 12:39 pm
  • Good to go for Saturday start
The Marlins list Luzardo (back) as their probable pitcher for Saturday's game against the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Luzardo pitched with some back stiffness in his last outing in Sunday's loss to the Nationals, getting pulled after five innings and 77 pitches while displaying decreased velocity. He's evidently bounced back fine, though, and appears good to go this weekend for a matchup against Seattle at home. Rotowire.com Today, 9:57 am
  • Another sim game coming next week
Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw another simulated game early next week and could be reinstated from the 15-day injured list shortly thereafter, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: After tossing 31- and 37-pitch bullpen sessions last week, Gallen advanced to facing hitters in a simulated game Tuesday. Gallen's strained right hamstring apparently responded well to the workout, but the Diamondbacks will still have him toss another sim game during the upcoming week before signing off on his return to the rotation. If all goes well during his second sim game, Gallen could return at some point during the Diamondbacks' series in Oakland next weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 8:20 am

  • Corbin Carroll gets a day off on Thursday
Corbin Carroll is not in the Diamondbacks lineup on Thursday against the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll has turned things around a bit in June, hitting .290 over 16 games with four steals and 17 runs scored. However, the power is not coming back yet. He has zero home runs in June and has just five RBI now that he has moved back up in the lineup for the Diamondbacks. You’re certainly not mad at his stats this month, but there shouldn’t be an expectation that the power will reemerge. Randal Grichuk will start in right field against a left-handed pitcher with Jake McCarthy moving over to center field. Rotoworld Today, 7:51 am
  • Long starting streak comes to end
Castro is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

Advice: For the first time since April 15, Castro will head to the bench, ending a streak of 59 consecutive starts. Though he opened the season in a utility role, Castro has solidified an everyday role thanks to his positional versatility and solid production at the plate. Austin Martin will enter the lineup at second base in place of Castro, who has been dialed in of late with a .368/.429/.605 slash line to go with one home run, six doubles, one stolen base, nine runs and four RBI over his last nine starts. • Day off versus left-hander
Carroll is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll has finally heated up at the dish in reaching base 25 times while adding four stolen bases over his last 12 contests. He'll get some rest Thursday, however, as the Nationals send tough left-hander MacKenzie Gore to the hill. Additionally, Carroll recently overcame a left side injury, so the Diamondbacks were presumably keen on giving him some maintenance. Jake McCarthy will play center field in Thursday's series finale. • Two hits, steal in win
Hamilton started at shortstop and went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hamilton returned to the starting lineup after dealing with discomfort in his side. He started the scoring with a run-producing single in the third inning and later stole his 20th base of the season. Hamilton has been prominent in the team's recent transition to the "Running Red Sox," as the team has attempted 17 steals (twice caught) over the last four games. Rotowire.com Today, 5:24 am
