    • Rare regular-rest start Sunday
Lopez will start on regular rest Sunday versus the Phillies for just the second time this season, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lopez struggled in his last start Tuesday versus the Giants, allowing just two runs but walking four over five inefficient innings. Atlanta has baked in extra rest for Lopez whenever it can during the first half as the right-hander shifts from reliever to starter, but he'll take the ball on normal rest against the division rival Phillies this weekend. With 79.1 innings in 2024, Lopez has already exceeded his workload from each of the previous two seasons. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

    • Cleared for rehab assignment
Smith-Shawver (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rome on Wednesday.

Advice: Smith-Shawver was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left oblique strain back in late May but has been cleared to return to game action. The young right-hander should be an option for Atlanta's rotation shortly after the All-Star break if all goes well, although it's possible he'll remain in the minors rather than rejoin the major-league club. • Traded to Milwaukee
The Rays agreed to trade Civale to the Brewers on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Advice: The return for Tampa Bay will be minor-league infielder Gregory Barrios, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Civale has an ERA north of 5.00 through 17 starts this season, but his xFIP is almost a full run lower at 4.09 and he should help stabilize the rotation for the first-place Brewers. Shane Baz was scratched from his scheduled start for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday and appears a likely candidate to replace Civale in the Rays' rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 6:12 am

    • Civale traded to Brewers
Brewers acquired RHP Aaron Civale from the Rays, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

Advice: The Rays acquired Civale last July from the Guardians in a deal for Kyle Mansardo. He went 4-9 with a 5.17 ERA in 27 starts for the Rays. Civale has a 5.07 ERA despite a 4.09 xFIP this season so this could be a shrewd pickup by the Brewers. Not much has changed with his fantasy value as he moves into the Milwaukee rotation. • Blanks Friars for fifth win
Eovaldi (5-3) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-0 victory over the Padres, allowing just one hit over seven scoreless innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

Advice: Bryce Johnson's third-inning single spoiled any shot Eovaldi might have had at making history, but the right-hander still put together a dominant performance before leaving the mound after 92 pitches (61 strikes). The quality start was his sixth of the year, and Eovaldi will take a 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 80:26 K:BB through 80 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Rays. • Hit hard in Tuesday's loss
Cease (7-7) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up six runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings as the Padres fell 7-0 to the Rangers. He struck out five.

Advice: The right-hander got no help from his offense, but Cease created his own problems by serving up six extra-base hits, including a pair of homers by Nathaniel Lowe. Cease has been tagged for four runs or more in three of his last four starts, walking multiple batters each time. He'll take a 4.24 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 130:32 K:BB through 102 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Today, 5:58 am
    • Secures 13th save
Duran struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 13th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: After missing the first month of the season with an oblique strain, Duran has had a little trouble finding his usual form, but he may be coming around. The right-hander has been scored upon only once in his last 11 appearances, posting a 1.64 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB through 11 innings over that stretch while collecting three wins, three saves and a hold. • Likely starter for Wednesday
Mena has joined the Diamondbacks' taxi squad and appears in line to make his major-league debut Wednesday against the Dodgers, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Manager Torey Lovullo acknowledged Mena's presence in the clubhouse Tuesday and said that "if that does come up [Wednesday], [Mena] deserves the opportunity," per PHNX Diamondbacks. Mena is a 21-year-old right-hander who was traded to Arizona over the winter. He has spent the entire 2024 season to date with Triple-A Reno, posting a 4.90 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 89:38 K:BB over 82.2 innings spanning 16 starts. A road matchup against the Dodgers represents a tough landing spot, and most will want to wait and see how the youngster fares before considering him for a fantasy roster. Rotowire.com Today, 5:48 am
    • Fades in no-decision
Woods Richardson came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Tigers, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: After cruising through four scoreless innings, the right-hander began to run out of gas in the fifth, serving up a solo shot to Justyn-Henry Malloy and a two-run blast to Ryan Kreidler that briefly gave Detroit a 3-2 lead. Woods Richardson was eventually lifted after 94 pitches (61 strikes), falling just short of his fifth quality start of the season. He'll carry a 3.52 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 60:21 K:BB through 71.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Astros. Rotowire.com Today, 5:47 am
