• Aiming to return by end of July
Trout (knee) has been swinging a bat as part of his rehab activities and is targeting a return to action by the end of July, per the Associated Press.

Advice: Trout hasn't yet done work in the outfield, but he's anticipating being able to rejoin the Angels at the end of July. The future Hall of Famer told Bally Sports West, "I'm pretty sure it's going to be pretty soon" when referring to a potential return, though he didn't specify a date. Trout hasn't played in a game since going 0-for-3 against Philadelphia on April 29. It's not yet clear if he'll play in any minor-league rehab games prior to rejoining the big club. • Swings off tee Sunday
Jung (wrist) said he took 15 swings with a regular bat off a tee Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Jung admitted that he's not certain of his next step, but the 26-year-old plans to continue swinging the bat over the All-Star break this week. If Jung incurs no setbacks with his surgically repaired right wrist while doing so, the Rangers could then map out a minor-league rehab assignment coming out of the break. Jung previously appeared in four rehab games in June and looked to be on the cusp of returning from the 60-day injured list before experiencing inflammation in his wrist and having his activation date pushed back. • Logs fifth steal
Kwan went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Rays.

Advice: This was Kwan's first steal since June 25 and his fifth of the campaign on nine attempts. Given he missed a month with a hamstring issue, it's not a surprise he's been a bit more cautious on the basepaths. The outfielder is batting .283 in July and now has a .352/.407/.512 slash line with nine home runs, 27 RBI, 55 runs scored, 14 doubles and two triples through 308 plate appearances this year. • Solid in abbreviated start
Scherzer didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Houston, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts across four innings.

Advice: Scherzer didn't complete five innings for the first time since being activated from the injured list June 23 and threw only 71 pitches after tossing 95 pitches in his previous start. Though he didn't go deep into the contest, Scherzer was very effective, with the lone run against him coming in the third on a solo home run by Jake Meyers. The 39-year-old has logged a 2.96 ERA and a 23:4 K:BB across 27.1 innings heading into the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:22 pm
  • Corey Seager named to American League All-Stars
Corey Seager was named to the American League All-Star team on Sunday as an injury replacement for Carlos Correa (foot).

Advice: It’s the fifth time that the 30-year-old shortstop has been named an All-Star. He’s certainly deserving of the honor, slashing .270/.355/.479 with 18 homers, 48 RBI and a stolen base through his first 83 ballgames. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:08 pm

  • Hurting but won't miss start
Suarez won't be available for Tuesday's All-Star Game while he recovers from back tightness, but the Phillies expect him to be available to make his first start of the second half July 22 or 23 in Minnesota, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Suarez hasn't been forced to miss any time due to the back issue and likely would have been available to start during the upcoming week if the Phillies needed him, but he'll instead use the All-Star break to heal up while he's less than 100 percent healthy. Though he's in the midst of a career-best season and was looking forward to pitching in his first Midsummer Classic, Suarez clearly hasn't been at his best of late, as he has struggled to an 8.62 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 13:7 K:BB in 15.2 innings over his last three starts, two of which have come against sub-.500 clubs in the Marlins and Athletics. Suarez won't travel to Arlington, Texas, for the All-Star Game and will instead remain in Philadelphia to continue throwing. Zack Wheeler is also tending to a back issue and will skip the All-Star Game, but both he and Suarez are expected to take the hill in some order when the Phillies next require fourth and fifth starters July 22 and 23. • Luis Arraez (thumb) won’t play in All-Star Game
Luis Arraez (thumb) will not participate in the All-Star Game next week.

Advice: The 27-year-old second baseman said that it was a tough decision to opt out, but that he felt his jammed left thumb needed the rest. Expect the National League to name a replacement to the squad in the upcoming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:20 pm

  • Max Scherzer yanked in fifth inning
Max Scherzer allowed one earned run in four-plus innings on Sunday against the Astros. He struck out six and walked one in a no-decision.

Advice: Scherzer cruised through the first four innings facing just two over the minimum with six strikeouts. Then, he allowed a single, a bunt hit, and a walk before being pulled with 71 pitches. His slider looked the best it has all season with six swings-and-misses, but this is where we can expect Scherzer’s workload to be as he tries to find his groove. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:49 pm
  • Getting breather Sunday
Arraez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: After rapping out three hits in Saturday's 4-0 win to break out of a 1-for-15 funk over his previous four starts, Arraez will head to the bench for the series finale and the final game before the All-Star break. Jurickson Profar will take over as the Padres' leadoff hitter in place of Arraez, who had started in each of the Friars' last 13 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:57 pm
