    • Carlos Correa (intercostal) takes grounders Friday
Carlos Correa (intercostal) took ground balls on the field prior to Friday’s game against the Angels.

Advice: Twins’ manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters earlier in the week that Correa was close to resuming baseball activities, and it’s encouraging to see him back out on the field. The Twins are going to continue to play it cautiously here, but it’s nice to see him taking steps in the right direction. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
    • Padres recall Jeremiah Estrada from Triple-A
Padres recalled RHP Jeremiah Estrada from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: For a few days at least, Estrada will add a fresh arm to the Padres’ bullpen as the team determines how they would like to handle the rotation spot vacated by Randy Vasquez. Estrada has been fantastic at Triple-A El Paso this season, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and an eye-popping 20/3 K/BB ratio across 8 2/3 innings in eight appearances. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago
    • Padres option Randy Vasquez back to Triple-A
Padres optioned RHP Randy Vasquez to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander struggled in his second start against the Rockies on Thursday, giving up four runs over 2 2/3 innings of work. That brought him to an uninspiring 5.87 ERA over 7 2/3 innings through his first two outings. It’s not yet clear what the Padres plan to do to fill his spot in the rotation for Tuesday’s matchup against the Reds. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
    • Padres option Matthew Batten back to Triple-A
Padres optioned INF Matthew Batten to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: With Manny Machado returning from the paternity list on Friday night, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and it would appear as though Batten drew the short straw this time. The 28-year-old is just 1-for-3 (.333) with a single in his limited time with the Padres this season. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

    • Junior Caminero (quad) considered day-to-day
Morgan Ensberg, the manager at Triple-A Durham, told reporters on Friday that top prospect Junior Caminero is considered day-to-day after tweaking his quad on Thursday.

Advice: Caminero was lifted from Thursday’s game in the third inning after sustaining the injury. Ensberg explained that he wasn’t going to put Caminero in any jeopardy, so he pulled him as a precaution. The 20-year-old phenom ran and did defensive work without issue on Friday but was getting another night off just to be on the safe side. He could be used off the bench in Friday’s game and should return to the starting lineup on Saturday. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago
    • John Means to make another rehab start on Sunday
John Means (elbow) is scheduled to make his next minor league rehab start on Sunday at Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw gave up three runs over 4 1/3 innings his last time out on Tuesday, racking up five strikeouts and throwing a total of 79 pitches (53 strikes). Unless Sunday’s start is a complete disaster, one would think that Means would be cleared to rejoin the Orioles’ rotation next weekend against the Reds in Cincinnati. Rotoworld Today, 4:44 pm
    • Pirates recall Kyle Nicolas from Triple-A Friday
Pirates recalled RHP Kyle Nicolas from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: He’ll replace Ryder Ryan in the Pirates’ bullpen after Ryan was optioned out following Thursday’s game. The 25-year-old hurler was off to a brilliant start at Triple-A, registering a minuscule 0.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 13/9 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings in his nine appearances. The Pirates are hopeful that he’ll add stability to their middle relief corps. Rotoworld Today, 4:38 pm
    • Pauses throwing program
Cobb (hip/elbow/shoulder) has been held back from throwing for the last few days due to soreness in his right shoulder, and he is set to see a team doctor Friday night, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.comreports.

Advice: Cobb was shifted to the 60-day IL on April 20 to give him more time to recover from his multiple ailments. He underwent left hip surgery in the offseason and was progressing through his rehab assignment following spring training, but he has suffered another setback with right shoulder soreness this time. Cobb's visit with the team doctor Friday night should give him and the Giants a better idea of the next steps forward in his rehab schedule. Rotowire.com Today, 4:26 pm

    • Padres activate Manny Machado from paternity list
Padres activated INF Manny Machado from the paternity list.

Advice: Machado was away from the club over the first half of the week as he welcomed his first child — a healthy baby boy — into the world. The proud papa will start at third base for the first time all season and will bat cleanup against Aaron Nola and the Phillies on Friday evening in San Diego. Rotoworld Today, 4:18 pm
