    • Blasts first homer
Bouchard reached base three times Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against the Pirates.

Advice: Bouchard followed teammate Jacob Stallings' two-run blast with a shot of his own during a second inning that saw the Rockies jump out to an early three-run lead. It was the first homer for Bouchard, who later added a double for his first multi-hit effort of the season. Bouchard got the starting nod against Pirates lefty Bailey Falter, marking his first start in four games as he appears to be mired on the short side of a platoon in right field with Jake Cave, pending the return of Kris Bryant (back), who's currently on the injured list. • Luis García Jr. goes 4-for-4, homers in victory
Before being lifted for a pinch-hitter, Luis García Jr. went 4-for-4 with a homer and a walk Sunday as the Nationals topped the Blue Jays 11-8.

Advice: Only Dave Martinez, man. It wasn’t even because there was a lefty in that García was pulled. Instead, Martinez brought in Ildemaro Vargas to lay down a bunt in Garcia’s place with a 10-8 lead in the eighth. Most annoying is that it worked out; not only did Vargas bunt the runner to third, but he reached first after the Jays tried and failed to retire the lead man, and the Nationals scored one run in the inning. It was García’s third career four-hit game. He’s actually one of the rare major leaguers to have had six hits in a game, doing so against the Royals last year. García is hitting .337/.381/.510 this season. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago
    • MacKenzie Gore gives up grand slam in poor outing
MacKenzie Gore lasted only three innings and allowed six runs — two earned — and six hits Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: It was Gore’s own error that led to all of the unearned runs. Gore’s secondary pitches weren’t working today; he got just one missed swing on his 32 non-fastballs, and it was a changeup, after three straight fastballs, that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit for a grand slam in the second. He’s 2-3 with a 3.44 ERA after seven turns. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago
    • Alek Manoah tagged for seven runs in 2024 debut
Making his 2024 debut, Alek Manoah gave up seven runs — six earned — in four innings Sunday against the Nationals.

Advice: Manoah issued a bases-loaded walk in the first, but that run was unearned because of an error to start the inning. He later gave up a homer in the third and five runs after recording the second out of the fourth. The good news is that Manoah had really strong velocity today — his 94.3 mph average on his fastball was up 1.5 mph from last year and also little better than his 2022 average — and he was able to strike out six batters. There might still be some hope here for the future, but we wouldn’t want to be rostering him right now. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
    • Jesse Winker hits three-run homer in Nats’ win
Jesse Winker finished 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and a walk Sunday against the Jays.

Advice: He also made a surprisingly good catch to rob Justin Turner in the eighth... even Winker himself seemed pretty surprised by it. Winker was in a 7-for-54 slump before getting to face Alek Manoah today. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
    • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hits grand slam versus Nats
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth career grand slam Sunday against the Nationals.

Advice: Guerrero also walked. The homer off MacKenzie Gore was his first since April 10. He’s now hit in eight straight games, raising his OPS from .643 to .711. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
    • Placed on 15-day IL
Langford (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Jackson Stone of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lanford is dealing with a right hamstring strain that he suffered in Saturday's win over the Royals and he's now expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks according to manager Bruce Bochy. The 22-year-old typically operates as the team's designated hitter and in his absence, Ezequiel Duran stands to see an increased role. Rotowire.com 40 minutes ago
    • Lifts second homer
Stallings went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Stallings put the Rockies on the board with the second inning blast against his former club. Despite serving as the second catcher in Colorado, Stallings has been effective on offense when given the opportunity with a hitting streak that's spanned the last seven games he's played since April 17. He's hit .400 over that stretch with two homers, six RBI and four runs scored, lifting his season average to .351 in the process. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago
    • Quality start versus Royals
Gray pitched seven innings, surrendering two runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Gray was tagged early Sunday, giving up a run in the first inning and then another in the bottom of the third frame on an RBI double by Vinnie Pasquantino. He finished his outing with four scoreless frames, securing his second straight quality start. Gray now owns a 2.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 39.2 innings in eight starts this season and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Saturday against the Rockies for a road matchup with his former team.
