  • Orioles add Nick Vespi as 27th man
    Nick Vespi has been added as the Orioles’ 27th man for Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals.

    Advice: Both teams get a 27th man for the regularly scheduled game as a result of having to finish last night’s suspended game today.     Maeda (illness) could rejoin the Tigers' rotation Saturday or Sunday versus the Blue Jays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The right-hander has been on the shelf since mid-May with a viral illness but made a rehab start this past weekend and got through a bullpen session Wednesday with no concerns.     Advice: Because the Orioles and Cardinals resumed Tuesday's suspended game earlier Wednesday, both teams were allotted a 27th man for the contest that was initially scheduled for Wednesday.     Advice: After he was acquired from Atlanta on May 9, Guillorme picked up starts in five of his first seven games with the Angels. He seems to have since moved into a utility role with Luis Rengifo returning from the injured list and taking on everyday duties at third base and with prospect Kyren Paris getting called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to serve as the team's main option at second base. Paris is hitting just .111 since his promotion, so it may not be long before the Angels pull the plug on the rookie and give Guillorme more playing time at the keystone.     Miller (0-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the extra-inning loss Tuesday versus the Pirates.

    Advice: Miller gave up a walk-off single to Nick Gonzales in the 10th inning after the duo of Luke Jackson and Camilo Doval gave away a four-run lead in the ninth. This was the first time in May that Miller gave up a run without surrendering a homer. The southpaw has allowed four runs (three earned) with an 11:8 K:BB over nine innings this month, and he's at a mediocre 4.50 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB through 22 innings overall.
