• Sharp in no-decision
Maeda came away with a no-decision Tuesday, scattering three hits over five scoreless innings while striking out five in a 4-2 win over the Rays.

Advice: Tampa Bay couldn't get a runner past second base against Maeda, who fired 59 of 88 pitches for strikes in his best performance of the season to date. The veteran right-hander exited the game in line for his first win of the season, but Alex Faedo coughed up a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning. Maeda still carries a 5.96 ERA through 22.2 innings after serving up three homers in two different starts, but his 1.37 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB offer some hope that he can continue to chip away at the bloated figure. He lines up for a home outing early next week against the Cardinals. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago
  • Looking good as leadoff hitter
McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Brewers.

Advice: McCutchen has hit atop the Pirates' order in consecutive games and has led off each contest with a homer. He now has three long balls on the season and is potentially getting out of a slump that resulted in him hitting just .173 across his first 14 games of the campaign. It's unclear whether McCutchen has taken over leadoff duties for good, but the Pirates have shifted Oneil Cruz down the lineup as a result. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
  • Blanks Dodgers in no-decision
Corbin came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Dodgers, allowing three hits and three walks over 5.1 scoreless innings. He struck out three.

Advice: The 34-year-old lefty put together his best performance of the young season, tossing 50 of 86 pitches for strikes and exiting with a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Nationals' bullpen quickly coughed it up. Corbin remains winless in 2024 with an 0-3 record, and his 6.51 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB through 27.2 innings don't offer much fantasy appeal even as a streaming option. He'll try to keep building momentum in his next start, which lines up to come this weekend in Miami. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago
  • Picks up third hold
Leasure allowed one earned run on two hits across one inning to earn a hold Tuesday against the Twins.

Advice: Leasure entered the game in the seventh inning and was tasked with protecting a two-run lead. He gave up an earned run for his second consecutive appearance, though those are his only runs allowed across 9.1 innings of work on the season. Michael Kopech has earned the majority of save chances for the White Sox to this point in the campaign, but Leasure has proven to work effectively in high-leverage roles. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Blows save chance
Wilson (1-2) allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one across 0.2 innings to blow the save and take the loss Tuesday against the Twins.

Advice: Wilson has picked up two holds this season and has held a high-leverage role in the Chicago bullpen. He's had plenty of success -- eight of his 10 appearances have been scoreless-- but he ran into trouble in a save situation Tuesday. Wilson entered the game in the ninth inning with a one-run lead but immediately served up a game-tying home run to Byron Buxton. He got into more trouble before ultimately allowing a game-winning knock to Alex Kirilloff. The White Sox have only three saves as a team this season, but Wilson could get in the mix when Michael Kopech is used in high-leverage situations rather than in the final frame. • Gets first win of season
Canning (1-3) got the win over the Orioles on Tuesday after allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings.

Advice: Canning navigated through four scoreless innings before the Orioles plated three runs against him in the fifth on four hits and a sacrifice. It's his second straight start allowing three runs or fewer though he has failed to get more than 16 outs in any of his five starts thus far. Canning has also kept things in the ballpark, allowing no home runs over his last two starts after giving up five in his first three. He's now at a 7.50 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB in 24 innings and lines up for a start versus the Phillies next week. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago
  • Shaky in eighth inning appearance
Kopech allowed two earned runs on two hits and no walks while striking out two to earn a hold Tuesday against the Twins.

Advice: Kopech was used in the eighth inning, and he primarily matched up against the top of the Twins' lineup. He allowed a leadoff single and later in the inning served up a two-run home run to Trevor Larnach. Kopech still maintained a one-run lead for the White Sox to earn his first hold of the season. The sample of the team maintaining a lead late in games is small, but it appears that manager Pedro Grifol is comfortable using Kopech in the highest-leverage situations rather than using him solely in save situations. • Fills in at first base
Dalbec started at first base and went 0-for-2 in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: The day after Boston learned it would be without primary first baseman Triston Casas (fractured rib) for a significant stretch of time, Dalbec replaced him at first base. Unfortunately, Dalbec's season-opening struggles continued. He's now 1-for-32 (.031) with 18 strikeouts. Red Sox manager Alex Cora, in talking with Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe, sounds like he'll roll with Dalbec as the primary fill-in. "We've got Bobby now. He's my first baseman. He'll play," Cora said. "I said, 'Hey man, don't feel like one at-bat is going to dictate what we do with you. Just go out there, have fun, and put a good swing on it, and we'll see what happens.'" For now, it looks like Boston will ride with Dalbec and Pablo Reyes as fill-ins. Rob Refsnyder may also get opportunities there. Rotowire.com Today, 4:42 am

  • Reaches base four times
Montero went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Padres.

Advice: Montero tallied his first three-hit game of the season and his second multi-hit effort over a three-game span. His second inning double was his first extra-base hit since April 12 and he also kickstarted a five-run fourth inning with a leadoff single and later walked with the bases loaded in the same frame. The 25-year-old is now slashing .242/.288/.273 with four RBI, three runs and a 5:11 BB:K in 73 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 4:32 am
