    Springs (elbow) allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five across three innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Durham Friday, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: The surface results weren't impressive for Springs, though all of his runs were surrendered on a home run. He also drew 12 whiffs on 29 swings against Triple-A Lehigh Valley, six of which came against changeups. In total he threw 45 pitches in his longest rehab outing since retaking the mound June 7. That workload suggests he has work left to do before being activated, but he'll soon need to agree to continue his rehab assignment with the team beyond the standard 30 days -- an option for pitchers returning from Tommy John surgery.   • Running and throwing
    Caratini (hip) has resumed running and throwing while rehabbing in Houston, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: This is the first report of Cartini resuming baseball activity since he landed on the injured list June 21. He's expected to join the Astros for their weekend series against Minnesota, and it's anticipated he'll participate in batting practice at that time.     Dubin threw 3.1 scoreless innings, walking three and striking out two in Sunday's win over the Mets.

    Advice: Dubin started a bullpen game for the Astros and turned in his longest outing of the season. Though he didn't generate many strikeouts, he was able to keep the Mets off balance with 12 called strikes on only 55 total pitches. Dubin entered the appearance having given up four earned runs across his last 4.1 innings (three appearances), and he recorded his first scoreless effort since June 12.     Pages went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Reds.

    Advice: Pages' playing time predictably took a nosedive when Willson Contreras returned from a forearm injury Monday. Pages went 12-for-50 (.240) in June, and if he continues to hit well in a backup role, he may stay on the major-league roster once Ivan Herrera (back) returns from the injured list.     Naylor went 3-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Royals.

    Advice: Naylor has a pair of three-hit efforts over his last five games, but he went 0-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts in between those contests. The catcher has started to show a bit more life with the bat, hitting .286 (14-for-49) with eight extra-base hits over 16 contests in June, though he also struck out 15 times. Naylor's at a .207/.274/.335 slash line with four home runs, 17 RBI, 22 runs scored, one stolen base, nine doubles and one triple through 197 plate appearances this year. His playing time has rebounded after dipping in late May and early June, but Naylor will need to continue to make a good effort with David Fry around to poach starts behind the dish.     Blanco went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.

    Advice: Blanco started for the first time since June 23, playing in place of MJ Melendez in left field against lefty Logan Allen. While he's not getting many at-bats, Blanco's speed remains top notch -- he logged six steals while going 4-for-23 over 14 contests in June. The outfielder has a .237/.289/.316 slash line with 17 thefts, one home run, four RBI, 20 runs scored and three doubles across 84 plate appearances in a reserve role this year.     Advice: Bivens rolled through four shutout frames before coughing up a solo shot to Chris Taylor in the fifth inning. Bivens was originally slated to be the opener but ended up delivering the longest outing of his young MLB career by throwing 41 of 60 pitches for strikes. He's allowed one run over his last nine innings, lowering his season ERA to 2.57 alongside a 14:4 K:BB through 14 frames.
