    • Lands second save
Suarez earned a save during Thursday's win over the Giants, allowing one run on one hit across one inning. He struck out one.

Advice: With two outs in the ninth inning, Suarez gave up a solo homer to Michael Conforto but still was able to snare his second save in as many appearances. It appears Suarez has a comfortable hold on the Padres' closing position; however, with arms like Uki Matsui and Wandy Peralta also earning high-leverage work Suarez could be on a shorter leash. • Nabs Opening Day victory
Bello (1-0) earned the win against Seattle on Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out two batters over five innings.

Advice: Bello wasn't overpowering in the outing, notching just eight swinging strikes and two punchouts, but he got key outs when needed and kept the Mariners off the board in four of his five frames. The 24-year-old earned his first Opening Day start after posting a 12-11 record in his second MLB campaign, though last season's 7.6 K/9 and 4.24 ERA aren't typical of an ace. As Bello showed Thursday, he has the skill set to get big-league hitters out and limit damage when runners reach base, but fantasy managers are unlikely to see him as more than rotation filler as long as his punchout numbers remain low. • Homers in win
Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a double while adding a walk in Pittsburgh's Opening Day 6-5 win over Miami in 12 innings.

Advice: Reynolds had been dealing with a back issue in the days leading up to Opening Day, but started in his customary left field and crushed a 2-1 pitch over the left-center field wall in the third inning to knot the game at two. Reynolds later doubled off Anthony Bender to earn the two-hit effort. Reynolds, an all-star in 2021, looks to be healthy as the Pirates were able to begin the season on a positive note. • Brayan Bello allows two over five in Opening Day win
Brayan Bello gave up two runs over five innings with a pair of strikeouts in a victory over the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Bello allowed five hits without issuing a free pass. The right-hander didn’t have his best stuff and dealt with some traffic, but he was able to escape damage outside of a two-run homer by Mitch Haniger. The Red Sox were counting on the 24-year-old to be a big part of their rotation regardless, but the injuries to the Boston pitching staff have created added importance for Bello’s success in 2024. His next scheduled start is a friendly matchup on paper against the lowly Athletics early next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:09 pm
    • José Ramírez triples in blowout win over A’s
José Ramírez tripled and drove in a run during Thursday’s blowout win over the Athletics.

Advice: Ramírez plated Steven Kwan with his triple and then came around to score on a sacrifice fly from David Fry. That was the only hit in the game for the perennial MVP candidate, but if you’re only gonna get one knock, why not make it a triple? Expect plenty more big games for Ramírez throughout the 2024 season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:48 pm
    • Drives in four
Santander went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI on Thursday against the Angels.

Advice: Santander drove in Baltimore's first run of the season on a fielder's choice in the first inning. However, he did his biggest damage three frames later, when he took Jose Suarez yard for a two-run homer -- his first of the season. Santander has hit at least 28 home runs in each of the last two campaigns and should remain an excellent source of counting stats in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:39 pm
    • Struggles in no-decision
Keller allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over 5.2 innings during Thursday's Opening Day win at Miami. He struck out three.

Advice: Keller threw 61 of his 85 pitches for strikes but he was not sharp as the Miami bats seemed to have a beat on him all game. The Pittsburgh righty who signed a five-year contract extension in the offseason left with a three-run deficit, but the Pirates were able to grind their way back into the game, eventually earning the victory and taking Keller off the hook. Expect Keller to rebound in his next start, scheduled to take place mid-week in Washington against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:18 pm
    • Three hits in Opening Day win
Correa went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a walk in Thursday's Opening Day win at Kansas City.

Advice: Correa played through plantar fasciitis in his left foot for most of last season but was pain-free in spring training. After one game it looks like full health could result in a bounce-back season. Correa slashed just .230/.312/.399 with 18 home runs and 65 RBI in 580 plate appearances last season. • Robert Suarez picks up second save for Padres
Despite giving up a homer, Robert Suarez notched his second save Thursday against the Giants.

Advice: Michael Conforto homered off him, but that just narrowed the Padres’ lead from three runs to two. Suarez retired the other three batters he faced, striking out one. Yuki Matsui set him up by getting five outs while facing four batters; he got an inning-ending double play after taking over in the seventh. Odds are that Suarez will be decent enough in the closer’s role, but Matsui could make things interesting in San Diego. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:16 pm
