    • Nails third save
Alvarado picked up the save Wednesday, allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout over a scoreless inning against Colorado.

Advice: After keeping the Rockies off the scoreboard in the ninth inning Wednesday, Alvarado hasn't allowed a run in eight straight appearances (7.2 innings) since his nightmare five-run 2024 debut. While it'll still take some time to get Alvarado's ERA down to a digestible number, fantasy managers can take solace in knowing that Alvarado's looking like his 2023 self, when he earned a 1.74 ERA across 41.1 innings. • José Alvarado locks down third save on Wednesday
José Alvarado tossed a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout to record a save against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: After the Rockies plated five runs in the eighth to make it a one-run game, Alvarado got the call in the ninth to close it out. He worked around a hit, striking out one batter to lock down his third save of the season. Alvarado has worked in a matchup-based committee, splitting save chances with Jeff Hoffman in the ninth inning. It’ll cap his saves total, but he’s still the best reliever to roster on the team. • Andrew Abbott strikes out six in tough-luck loss
Andrew Abbott pitched well in a tough-luck loss against the Mariners on Wednesday afternoon, racking up six strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 24-year-old left-hander scattered four hits while walking three batters on the evening. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Cal Raleigh crushing a solo homer in the second inning and Mitch Garver adding a solo shot in the sixth. Aside from those two mistakes, he was terrific. Abbott got seven swings and misses on 104 pitches in the contest — four on his heater — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to extend his dominance as he carries a 2.70 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 17/7 K/BB ratio (23 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Phillies. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:15 pm
    • Mason Miller fans two Wednesday for fourth save
Mason Miller struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Cardinals to record his fourth save of the season.

Advice: Miller was called upon to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and wound up working around a leadoff walk to Iván Herrera by striking out Masyn Winn, coaxing a harmless fly out from Alec Burleson and whiffing Brendan Donovan to preserve the victory. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty, who touched triple digits 12 times in this outing, has quickly blossomed into one of the most exciting pitchers in the game. There’s a chance he’s already an elite fantasy closer. He’s converted all four of his save opportunities this season to go along with a 17/4 K/BB ratio across nine innings (seven appearances). • Takes seat Wednesday
Jones is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Jones will get his first day off of the season, with a day game after a night game along with the fact that the Phillies are bringing a left-hander (Cristopher Sanchez) to the hill likely factoring into the Rockies' decision to hold him out of the lineup. Jones could probably benefit from the break from a mental standpoint as well, as he's gone 0-for-11 with five strikeouts against one walk over his last three starts. • First blown save of 2024
Estevez gave up two runs on three hits in the ninth inning Tuesday to blow his first save of the season in a 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Rays. He struck out one.

Advice: Called upon to protect a 3-1 lead, Estevez got two quick outs before the wheels fell off, with a Jose Caballero triple tying up the game. The Angels then had multiple other chances to put the game away before eventually falling in 13 innings. The runs were the first Estevez has allowed this season, and he's gone 3-for-4 in converting save chances with a 5:0 K:BB over six innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:22 am
    • Michael Busch sees home run streak snapped
Michael Busch had his home run streak snapped at five games while going 0-for-4 with a walk against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Busch winds up tied with several others for the longest streak of games with a home run in Cubs history. The Cubs were facing a lefty in Tommy Henry tonight, so this was a game that Busch might not have started had he not been so hot coming in. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:51 pm

    • Throws five scoreless
Jones threw five scoreless innings during Tuesday's loss against the Mets while allowing one hit and striking out seven batters. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Jones was dominant in his fourth career start, needing just 56 pitches to get through five innings while allowing just one batter to reach base. The 22-year-old likely could have continued pitching further into the game, but the Pirates' plan was always to limit him to five innings Tuesday. He departed with a 1-0 lead, but Pittsburgh's bullpen was unable to keep the Mets' offense quiet, leading to a 3-1 defeat and a no-decision for Jones. The right-hander now boasts a 3.13 ERA and 0.78 WHIP alongside a 32:2 K:BB ratio across 23 innings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:36 pm
    • Spins six scoreless
Lopez (2-0) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing four hits and a walk over six scoreless innings against the Astros. He struck out seven.

Advice: Lopez continued his excellent start to 2024, generating his third straight quality start and extending his scoreless-inning streak to 12. The veteran righty has been a pleasant surprise for Atlanta and fantasy managers who took a gamble after he started just one game in the past two seasons, delivering an 18:6 K:BB over 18.0 innings with merely one run allowed through three outings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Marlins on Monday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:36 pm
