    • Pops 13th home run
Morel went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Rays.

Advice: Morel connected for this third home run of the month and 13th of the season in the fourth inning. The 24-year-old is now halfway to his long ball total from last year through 66 games. Morel only needed 107 contests to record those 26 homers in 2023, but he seems primed to play more games this season if he stays healthy, and that could result in a new career best in the power department. • Getting Tuesday off
LeMahieu isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Advice: LeMahieu has gone 4-for-9 with an RBI across his last three games, and he'll get a breather Tuesday while Oswaldo Cabrera starts at third base, batting ninth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:17 pm

    • Anthony Rizzo remains on bench versus Royals
Anthony Rizzo is on the bench again Monday for the series opener against the Royals.

Advice: The Yankees have opted for DJ LeMahieu at first and Oswaldo Cabrera at third for a second straight game tonight. They also could use Cabrera in right field tonight with Juan Soto DHing and Aaron Judge sitting, but they opted to give Jahmai Jones a very rare start in that spot. Rotoworld Monday, 3:49 pm
    • Held out again Monday
Rizzo is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Kansas City.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone had indicated the struggling Rizzo would receive a second straight day off, and that's exactly what will happen. Rizzo has just one hit over his last 29 at-bats. DJ LeMahieu will handle first base Monday while Oswaldo Cabrera plays third base. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:29 pm
    • Report: Yankees not ready to give up on Rizzo
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees “are not ready to give up on [Anthony Rizzo] just yet.”

Advice: Rizzo was out of the starting lineup on Sunday and reportedly will be again on Monday. The 34-year-old has been struggling mightily this year. As Rosenthal points out, Rizzo’s .284 slugging percentage against starting pitching is the lowest in the majors, and “since 2022 his .235 batting average against fastballs is the second lowest, ahead of only the Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho.” Considering that Rizzo is now playing below-average defense at first base, it seems logical for the Yankees to look for an upgrade. Still, manager Aaron Boone has not been willing to admit as much. “There’s no question over the last two, three weeks especially, it’s been a little bit of a struggle,” Boone said. “When you’re going through it and making little adjustments, they don’t always take right away.” Considering Rizzo is hitting .231/.323/.413 since the beginning of 2022 with a 111 wRC+, it’s now been a few years since he’s really given the Yankees’ lineup much. If they want to compete for a World Series this year, Boone may need to be open to a change at first base. Rotoworld Monday, 9:13 am
    • Ryan McMahon in 7-for-57 slump
Ryan McMahon went 0-for-4 on Sunday, leaving him 7-for-57 in his last 16 games.

Advice: McMahon’s OPS has dropped from .891 to .780 during the stretch, putting him much closer to his usual career numbers. McMahon’s exit velocity numbers are better than ever, and there’s reason to think he’s a truly improved player this season. Still, there was little chance he was going to keep batting .300, as he did for most of the first eight weeks. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:49 pm

    • Not in Sunday's lineup
Rizzo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Dodgers.

Advice: Rizzo has gone 1-for-29 over the past seven games and will hit the bench Sunday after starting the previous eight contests. According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, manager Aaron Boone said the veteran first baseman may also be held out of the lineup Monday in Kansas City, which would give him a couple days for a mental reset. DJ LeMahieu will shift to first base while Oswaldo Cabrera starts at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:17 pm
    • Anthony Rizzo not starting Sunday versus Dodgers
Anthony Rizzo is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Rizzo has been awful in June with just one hit in 29 at-bats, and his .224/.285/.329 slash tells you that it’s not just a case of a week of struggling. He’ll get a day off with DJ LeMahieu getting the start at first and Oswaldo Cabrera in at third. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:13 pm
    • Anthony Rizzo goes 0-for-5 in loss to Dodgers
Anthony Rizzo popped out with the tying run on base to conclude a Yankees loss and an 0-for-5 game against the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: The Yankees might want to give one of their outfielders a crash course at first base with Rizzo showing no sign of turning things around and Jasson Domínguez making strides in his return from Tommy John. Rizzo has opened June 1-for-25, putting him at .228/.289/.344 for the season. Rotoworld Friday, 7:55 pm
