    • Justin Turner on the bench again
Justin Turner is on the bench for Monday’s game against the White Sox.

Advice: Turner got a day off on Sunday, but he remains out of the lineup on Monday with Daniel Vogelbach starting at designated hitter again. The 39-year-old is slashing just .222/.301/.359 in 173 plate appearances in 2024 with four home runs and 18 RBI. It’s possible that the Blue Jays will look to get at-bats for other players in his place, and fantasy managers can certainly look to do the same with a hot bat on the waiver wire. • Out of lineup again Monday
Turner is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Turner has now been absent from the lineup for two straight games and three times over his club's last five contests. He did enter the game twice over that stretch as a pinch hitter and will be an option to do so again Monday when/if the White Sox put a left-handed reliever in. Daniel Vogelbach will start at designated hitter Monday. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:52 am

    • Set to be called up Monday
Astros manager Joe Espada said Sunday that Abreu will be recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Abreu was optioned to the Astros' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate April 30 after he produced a lowly .099/.156/.113 slash line with three RBI over 77 plate appearances to begin the season. After taking some time off to refine his plate approach, the 37-year-old resumed playing in the FCL beginning May 17 and went 7-for-22 with two doubles, one home run and three RBI across five games. Abreu then moved up to Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend, and despite a pair of hitless showings with the club, the Astros saw enough from the veteran first baseman to have him return to the big leagues. He's still likely to play second fiddle at first base to Jonathan Singleton upon being recalled, though the right-handed-hitting Abreu could end up occupying the short side of a platoon. • José Abreu to return to Astros on Monday
José Abreu will return to the Astros on Monday ahead of their series against Seattle.

Advice: José Abreu has already made the trip to Seattle, and he’ll be a part of the Houston roster for their four-game series against the Mariners. The right-handed hitter has struggled mightily in the majors, and fantasy managers should wait to see some sort of success at the highest level before adding him to a fantasy roster. • Justin Turner out Sunday against Tigers
Justin Turner is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Tigers.

Advice: Turner will get the day off with Ernie Clement starting at third base and Daniel Vogelbach the designated hitter. Turner has been awful thus far in May with a .105 average over 57 at-bats and a .287 OPS. Rotoworld Sunday, 6:54 am

    • Out of Sunday's lineup
Turner is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Turner's offensive production has fallen sharply in May with a .105/.164/.123 slash line through 16 games, and he'll sit Sunday for the second time in Toronto's past four contests. Daniel Vogelbach will bat fifth as the designated hitter in the series finale at Detroit. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:49 am

    • Getting breather Saturday
Diaz isn't in the Rays' lineup Saturday against the Royals.

Advice: Diaz will get a day off Saturday after going 1-for-4 during a loss in Friday's series opener. His absence will allow Jonathan Aranda to start at first base, moving Isaac Paredes into the DH spot while Amed Rosario starts at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Saturday, 12:47 pm

    • Yandy Díaz getting day off Saturday vs. Royals
Yandy Díaz is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Royals.

Advice: Díaz hasn’t been able to replicate last year’s form that fueled a career-best 22 homer explosion, but the plate skills have remained relatively stable at their usual near-elite levels. The 32-year-old’s barrel percentage has slipped from 9.5 percent last year to a lackluster 4.6 mark this season, which has led to a steep drop off in power. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:23 am

    • José Abreu to join Astros in Seattle next week
Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Friday that José Abreu will play at least two games at Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday and Saturday and will then meet up with the Astros in Seattle on Monday.

Advice: It’s possible that Abreu could also play a third game at Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, though that has yet to be decided. It sounds like Joey Loperfido will be the odd-man out upon Abreu’s return, but it’ll be interesting to see how the playing time shakes out at first base between him and Jon Singleton who has been holding down the fort for the past few weeks.
