    • Moves up order against lefty
Carroll batted second and went 1-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll had been dropped to the lower third of the order against left-handers a couple of weeks ago, but he was moved back to the top third Wednesday. A 12-game stretch during which he batted .340/.446/.511 may have influenced manager Torey Lovullo's decision to get Carroll's higher in the order. Rotowire.com Today, 4:20 am

    • Willy Adames reaches three times in win over Angels
Willy Adames went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks in the Brewers’ 2-0 win over the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Adames drew walks in the first and third innings, then gave the Brewers an insurance run in the eighth with a base hit to drive in Christian Yelich from second base. After reaching three times on Wednesday, the 28-year-old ends the day slashing .240/.333/.430 with 12 homers, 52 RBI, and 10 steals across 321 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:06 pm

    • Kyle Finnegan slams door on Diamondbacks in ninth
Kyle Finnegan slammed the door on the Diamondbacks in the ninth inning on Wednesday, retiring all three hitters that he faced to preserve a two-run advantage.

Advice: Finnegan picked up his 21st save of the season for his efforts. The 32-year-old hurler made things look easy in this one, getting Joc Pederson on a ground ball to first and then striking out Eugenio Suarez and Gabriel Moreno to end it. While his job security was shaky heading into the season, Finnegan has been an absolute monster for fantasy managers this season, posting a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and a 33/10 K/BB ratio over 31 1/3 innings of work while converting 21 of his 23 save chances and chipping in two victories for good measure. • Christian Walker scores lone run in loss to Nats
Christian Walker went 1-for-4 and scored the Diamondbacks’ lone run in Wednesday’s loss to the Nationals.

Advice: The only run that the Diamondbacks were able to scratch out against Patrick Corbin and company on Wednesday afternoon came as Gabriel Moreno worked a bases-loaded walk in the third inning that allowed Walker to score. The 33-year-old slugger has been a force in the middle of the Diamondbacks’ lineup once again this season — slashing .255/.333/.475 with 16 homers, 49 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. • Aaron Judge (hand) not in Yankees lineup Wednesday
Aaron Judge (hand) is not in the Yankees’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Orioles.

Advice: The 32-year-old superstar took a pitch off of his left hand during Tuesday’s game, but fortunately X-rays and a CT scan came back negative for any structural damage. Judge reported feeling sore on Wednesday but was able to take some swings in the batting cage. He won’t require a trip to the injured list and should return to the Bombers’ lineup any day now. • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Judge (hand) won't be in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Orioles, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Advice: X-rays and a CT scan on Judge's left hand came back negative after he exited Tuesday's 4-2 win over Baltimore when he was hit by pitch. According to Meredith Marakovits of YES Network, Boone said that Judge took some swings in the batting cage Wednesday and is expected to avoid a trip to the injured list, but the slugger is still sore and will miss at least one start. Judge likely won't be available off the bench Wednesday, but the hope is he'll be able to return to action for Thursday's series finale. Trent Grisham will replace Judge in center field Wednesday. • Homers again Tuesday
Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over San Diego.

Advice: Schwarber cut the Phillies' lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, launching a solo shot off Wandy Peralta. It's Schwarber's 17th homer this season and his third in his last two games. He's boosted his slash line to .257/.377/.468 with 48 RBI, 53 runs scored and four steals across 329 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:25 am

    • Returns to action
Heim went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

Advice: Heim returned from a paternity leave Tuesday and was back in the lineup as the catcher. He's batting .235/.278/.341 with six home runs, 31 RBI, one steal and 22 runs scored over 241 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:37 am

    • Active in return
Carroll went 2-for-3 with two walks, a triple, a stolen base and a caught stealing in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll was removed from Sunday's game with discomfort in his left side, but he was ready to go Tuesday after an MRI came back clean. He led off the game with a walk, stole second base, then trotted in on Ketel Marte's home run. Carroll later tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly. The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year's season-opening slump has started to lift; he's 16-for-47 (.340) with four doubles, two triples, nine walks, four steals and 16 runs scored over the last 12 games.
