John Danks was solid in his first start back from shoulder surgery Friday, giving up three runs in six-plus innings in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Advice: He reached the 90s a couple of times with his fastball, but mostly sat in the high 80s. Danks was pulled after giving up a leadoff double to Marcell Ozuna in the top of the seventh inning. Ozuna eventually came around to score on a sacrifice fly, which cost Danks a chance at the victory. Still, it was an encouraging outing for the southpaw, as he gave up just four hits and walked nine while striking out five. He has another favorable matchup next week against the Cubs, but most mixed league owners can afford to wait and see for now.

Michael Cuddyer delivered a two-run double and a homer Friday in his return from the disabled list.
Advice: Picking up right where he left off. Cuddler is already halfway to last year's homer total with eight in 32 games. He's also driven in 26 runs.

Carlos Quentin went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk in his return to the starting lineup on Friday.
Advice: Quentin's first multihit game since April 30 has him back over the Mendoza Line at .203 for the first time in three weeks. Now all he needs is a multi-RBI game; he has just one this season.

A.J. Pollock went 3-for-4 with an RBI from the leadoff spot in Friday's win.
Advice: Pollock was probably looking at a demotion right about now if Adam Eaton's rehab went as hoped. As is, he'll remain in the majors and continue to start against lefties for a few more weeks. He's 8-for-14 the last five days after breaking out of a 1-for-19 slump.

Tyler Chatwood blanked the Giants for six innings Friday to win his third straight start.
Advice: Josh Outman, Matt Belisle and Wilton Lopez finished the five-hit shutout in a 5-0. Chatwood is sporting a nifty 1.90 ERA in four starts since joining the rotation, so it looks like he'll last for a while. We still don't trust him, not with his subpar command and poor changeup.

David Freese returned to action on Friday went connected on a two-run homer and an RBI double against the Dodgers.
Advice: It was Freese's first game in five days because of a cut right thumb. He's gone 6-for-15 with two homers in his last four games, so it seems his long slump is over. Now if only he can stay in the lineup.

Tim Lincecum surrendered four runs in seven innings Friday in a loss to the Rockies.
Advice: It was all Michael Cuddyer's fault; he doubled in the first two runs and homered for the fourth. He even scored the third after reaching base on a strikeout/wild pitch in the fourth. Lincecum did a bang-up job against everyone else, finishing with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Jed Lowrie (foot) is out of the Athletics' lineup again Friday.
Advice: Lowrie hasn't played since he was hit in the right foot by Yu Darvish on Tuesday. X-rays came back negative, but he's still dealing with some soreness. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Ross Detwiler (back) played catch Thursday and will throw a bullpen session Saturday.
Advice: Detwiler left his start on May 15 with lower back spasms, but managed to avoid a stint on the disabled list. Barring any setbacks, he will return to the rotation Tuesday against the Orioles.

Justin Maxwell (hand) expects to begin a minor league rehab assignment next Wednesday with Class A Quad Cities.
Advice: Maxwell, who fractured his left hand on month ago, took 20 swings in the cage on Friday without discomfort. He's likely looking at a return in early June.

Oscar Taveras (ankle) has been doing running and agility drills and is expected to return to the starting lineup at Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.
Advice: The Cardinals' top prospect has been sidelined since May 12 when he suffered the ankle injury while sliding into second base on a stolen base attempt. The Cardinals have opted to play it cautiously in with his recovery as to not risk further injury. He'll return to a stellar .311/.351/.480 line with four homers, 20 RBI and five steals through his first 31 games.

Luis Mendoza delivered a strong outing in a no-decision against the Angels on Friday, allowing just one run on seven hits over his five frames.
Advice: Mendoza struggled with his command a bit, issuing four free passes while striking out two on the night. The only run against him came when Mike Trout scampered home on a wild pitch in the third inning. After a very rough start to the season, Mendoza has posted a 3.52 ERA over his last four outings. He'll look to get back in the win column when he squares off against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday.
