    • Jordan Walden (shoulder) threw a bullpen session at Citi Field on Friday.
Advice: If Walden can avoid setbacks, he should be cleared for a rehab assignment and rejoin the Braves at some point next week. With Eric O'Flaherty out for the season, Walden is likely to return in a setup role with Luis Avilan.

    • Jordan Walden (shoulder) will not be ready to be activated from the disabled list next Monday.
Advice: That's the first day he's eligible to return, but the right-hander is not quite far along enough. Walden will throw a bullpen session later this week and then head out on a short minor league rehab assignment. He should be ready for activation just before the end of May.

    • Jordan Walden said his right shoulder felt "pretty good" after he played catch on Monday.
Advice: It's the first time he's played catch since landing on the disabled list. Walden is shooting to return next Monday when first eligible, but we won't know if that's a realistic goal until he throws from a mound. "That's what we're shooting for, but it's got to be feeling good," Walden said. ".I just need to make sure I'm fully healthy when I come back because we already have great guys down there still. I just want to be part of it down there. I want to be able to help out Craig (Kimbrel) a little bit."

    • Josh Fields (forearm) could be activated from the disabled list in 7-10 days.
Advice: Fields suffered a right forearm strain in the first week of the season and has appeared in four games at Double-A Corpus Christi during his rehab assignment. The Astros want to see Fields work consecutive games without any setbacks before he's activated from the DL.

    • The Red Sox have yet determine if Franklin Morales (back, pectoral) will be activated this weekend or receive one more rehab start in the minors.
Advice: Morales, on the disabled list since the beginning of the season, declared himself fully healthy after throwing five innings Thursday in his latest rehab game with Double-A Portland. The Red Sox are expected to use him as a reliever upon his return.

    • Tommy Hanson could return for Thursday night's game against the Dodgers.
Advice: Hanson will throw 75 pitches in extended spring training Saturday and the Angels expect him to only need one start before he rejoins the team. Hanson is returning from a three week stint on the bereavement list.

    • Tommy Hanson is scheduled to throw 75 pitches Saturday in an extended spring training game.
Advice: Hanson has been away from the team since early May due to a death in the family. Since he's had such a long layoff, the assumption is that he'll make at least one more extended spring training start before rejoining the Angels. That means he won't be back until June 4 at the earliest. Hanson is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 17/9 K/BB ratio through his first 28 innings with the Angels.

    • Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports that Tommy Hanson "could be weeks away" from rejoining the Angels' rotation.
Advice: Hanson has been away from the team since early May due to the death of his step-brother, and he's now in extended spring training trying to regain his stamina. It sounds like Halos fans will have to deal with Joe Blanton for a while longer.

    • Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that Tommy Hanson would "most likely not" start on Saturday in Kansas City.
Advice: Hanson has been away from the team since early May due to the death of his step-brother. The Halos were hoping he'd be ready to rejoin the rotation on Saturday, but he needs to get some work in at extended spring training first. The right-hander seems like to return sometime next week.

    • Rangers transferred LHP Matt Harrison from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Advice: The move clears a 40-man roster spot for the recently-claimed Joe Benson. Harrison underwent a second back surgery in late April and is expected to be sidelined at least another two months.

    • Chris Capuano gave up six runs -- five earned -- in five innings Friday in a loss to the Cardinals.
Advice: Capuano turned in back-to-back strong outings before tonight's stinker against a fine St. Louis offense, so we'll let him off the hook. It wouldn't have mattered much if he had allowed only one or two runs anyway; the Dodger offense wasn't getting anything done in the shutout tonight.

    • Tom Koehler yielded three runs in six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Advice: Koehler scattered six hits while striking out three and walking one. The 26-year-old right-hander has allowed three runs or fewer in all three of his starts since joining the rotation earlier this month. He isn't going to get many wins with this lineup, but give him a try in NL-only formats.

    • Blue Jays recalled RHP Thad Weber from Triple-A Buffalo.
Advice: Weber was claimed off waivers earlier this week and will serve as bullpen depth. The 28-year-old right-hander owns a 3.93 ERA and 26/4 K/BB ratio in 34 1/3 innings over six starts at the Triple-A level this season.

    • John Danks was solid in his first start back from shoulder surgery Friday, giving up three runs in six-plus innings in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Advice: He reached the 90s a couple of times with his fastball, but mostly sat in the high 80s. Danks was pulled after giving up a leadoff double to Marcell Ozuna in the top of the seventh inning. Ozuna eventually came around to score on a sacrifice fly, which cost Danks a chance at the victory. Still, it was an encouraging outing for the southpaw, as he gave up just four hits and walked nine while striking out five. He has another favorable matchup next week against the Cubs, but most mixed league owners can afford to wait and see for now.

  • Fri, May 24
    • White Sox activated LHP John Danks from the 15-day disabled list.
Advice: He'll make his season debut on Friday against the Marlins. Danks wound up posting a 3.18 during his four rehab starts, but he held a 15/13 K/BB ratio and his velocity isn't all the way back yet. Consider him only in AL-only formats for the time being.

    • John Danks (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to make his season debut Friday against the Marlins.
Advice: White Sox manager Robin Ventura finally made the decision official on Wednesday night. Danks posted a 3.18 ERA during his four rehab starts, but he also had a 15/13 K/BB ratio and is still dealing with diminished velocity. Mixed leaguers should stay away for now.

    • John Danks (shoulder) went 4 2/3 innings Saturday in his third minor league rehab start.
Advice: If everything checks out with the left-hander early this week, he should be cleared to join the White Sox starting rotation on Friday night against the Marlins. Danks has been on the shelf all year and makes for a decent waiver stash right now in AL-only fantasy leagues. Since he's coming off shoulder surgery and still rebuilding his arm strength, it might not be wise to trust him right out of the gate in standard mixed formats. Even against Miami.

    • Orioles placed RHP Pedro Strop on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 24, with a lower back strain.
Advice: The move clears a spot on the 25-man roster for Steve Johnson. Strop has a 6.11 ERA with 14 walks over 17 2/3 innings with the Orioles.

    • Pedro Strop was slapped with a loss Monday against the Yankees after allowing two runs over two-thirds of an inning.
Advice: Called upon to begin the 10th inning, Strop gave up consecutive doubles to Ichiro Suzuki and Vernon Wells before recording a pair of outs. He was asked to intentionally walk Robinson Cano before the O's tabbed Brian Matusz, who allowed an inherited runner to score. Strop's stuff is absolutely lethal, but his post-WBC efforts haven't impressed. The 27-year-old holds a 5.19 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 21 appearances. He's got closer's stuff, but is nowhere close to being trusted in the ninth inning.

    • Brandon Beachy (elbow) allowed two runs over four innings in his first minor league rehab start Friday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Advice: It was his first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery last June. Beachy is expected to make around five starts in the minors, so he should be an option for the Braves' rotation in 3-4 weeks if he can avoid setbacks.

    • Jeremy Hefner gave up two runs in six innings Friday against the Braves.
Advice: The game was suspended after eight innings and will resume Saturday. Hefner gave up a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman in the first inning, but retired 16 out of the final 19 batters he faced before exiting. However, LaTroy Hawkins coughed up the lead in the top of the eighth, which means that Hefner is still winless. He stuck out seven and walked two in the no-decision and owns a 4.67 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across nine starts and one relief appearance this season. He's not an option outside of deeper NL-only formats.

    • Rubby De La Rosa (intercostal) has resumed a throwing program.
Advice: De La Rosa was scratched from his start Tuesday with an intercostal strain but is expected to make a quick return to the Triple-A Pawtucket rotation. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 3.65 ERA and 29/14 K/BB ratio over eight starts (25 innings) this season.

    • Red Sox prospect right-hander Rubby De La Rosa was scratched from Tuesday's start with Triple-A Pawtucket for precautionary reasons after he tweaked a muscle in his side.
Advice: It's evidently not a major concern, but the Red Sox didn't want to risk him making things worse. De La Rosa has a 3.65 ERA and 29/14 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings across eight starts this season in Triple-A and should make an impact with the big club before long.

    • Joe Saunders fell to 3-5 after giving up six runs in five innings against the Rangers on Friday.
Advice: The Mariners had to know Saunders would give up more than his share of homers and hits after adding him to their rotation; the surprise is that he's already walked 22 batters in 57 2/3 innings. Last year, he walked a total of 39 in 174 2/3 innings. Saunders is at best a matchup guy in AL-only leagues. He'll be worth playing next week when he gets a road start in San Diego.

Advice: Huff was designated for assignment by the Indians last week after he posted a 4.07 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 28/9 K/BB ratio in 24 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level. The Yankees waived left-hander Francisco Rondon in a corresponding move.

    • Indians designated LHP David Huff for assignment.
