    • Triston McKenzie pulled in third against Royals
Triston McKenzie gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Royals.

Advice: McKenzie issued the first intentional walk of his career to Bobby Witt Jr. in the third, though it was one of those in which the pitcher got to a 3-0 count and then put him on. The Royals went on to score three times afterwards, though things were probably trending in that direction anyway. McKenzie’s velocity has climbed some since the start of the year, but his results have been dreadful lately; he’s pitched just 7 2/3 innings and given up 12 earned runs and 11 walks in his last three starts. • Roughed up in loss
McKenzie (3-5) took the loss Friday in Kansas City, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks over 2.1 innings with three strikeouts.

Advice: The Cleveland right-hander closed out a tough month with this performance, failing to pitch past the third inning for the third consecutive start. Over five June starts, McKenzie posted a 9.33 ERA, 2.13 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB across 18.1 innings. The 26-year-old is currently scheduled to face the White Sox at home in his next outing. • Earns 13th save
Fairbanks earned a save against the Nationals on Friday, walking one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Fairbanks was asked to protect a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning and worked around a one-out walk to secure his 13th save of the season. The closer has rebounded from a blown save June 20 to nail down three consecutive scoreless saves. He is now 13-for-15 in save chances with a 3.14 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 30:13 K:BB over 28.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:39 pm
    • Pete Fairbanks slams door on Nationals in ninth
Pete Fairbanks slammed the door on the Nationals in the ninth inning on Friday night, protecting a two-run lead to earn his 13th save of the season.

Advice: Fairbanks had to work a bit in the ninth inning of this one, as he issued a one-out walk to Keibert Ruiz to bring the tying run to the plate. He battled back though, getting Eddie Rosario on a line drive to right field and Nick Senzel on a ground ball to first base to end it. In all, he needed 22 pitches (13 strikes) to get the job done. On the season, Fairbanks now sports a 3.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 30/13 K/BB ratio over 28 innings to go along with 13 saves and two victories. Rotoworld Today, 6:26 pm
    • Officially placed on IL
The Giants placed Estrada on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left wrist sprain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reported earlier Friday that Estrada has been playing through multiple injuries recently, and the Giants will now place the 28-year-old infielder on the IL so that he can recover properly. Tyler Fitzgerald will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to help replenish the Giants' infield depth, though Nick Ahmed could see an increase in playing time while Estrada is sidelined. • Giants place Thairo Estrada on 10-day injured list
Giants placed INF Thairo Estrada on the 10-day injured list with left wrist tendinitis.

Advice: Giants’ manager Bob Melvin noted that Estrada has been playing through a lot recently, so this was a good opportunity to sit him down for a while and allow him to get right. Brett Wisely is starting in his place at second base on Friday night and could be in line for increased action while Estrada is sidelined. Rotoworld Today, 5:38 pm

    • Headed toward IL stint
Manager Bob Melvin said Friday that it's likely Estrada will be placed on the injured list due to an undisclosed injury, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Pavlovic notes that Estrada has been working through multiple injuries lately and hasn't played in back-to-back games. With the Giants needing to free up a roster spot for LaMonte Wade's (hamstring) return, Estrada could be given an extended break for rest and recovery. Keep an eye out for an official transaction and some clarification regarding his health. Rotowire.com Today, 4:38 pm

    • Thairo Estrada could be heading to injured list
Thairo Estrada is not in the Giants’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Dodgers.

Advice: Unfortunately, it sounds like it could be something more than a routine night off for Estrada and the 28-year-old infielder could be heading to the injured list. Brett Wisely will start in his place and will bat eighth against Landon Knack and the Dodgers on Friday evening in San Francisco. Rotoworld Today, 4:22 pm

    • Sitting Friday
Estrada isn't in the Giants' lineup for Friday's game versus the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Estrada will take a seat Friday after going 2-for-14 with four strikeouts during the Giants' previous series against the Cubs. Brett Wisely will shift to second base while Nick Ahmed gets the nod to start at shortstop, batting ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:49 pm
