• Luis Arraez (thumb) won’t play in All-Star Game
Luis Arraez (thumb) will not participate in the All-Star Game next week.

Advice: The 27-year-old second baseman said that it was a tough decision to opt out, but that he felt his jammed left thumb needed the rest. Expect the National League to name a replacement to the squad in the upcoming days. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:20 pm

  • Brandon Lowe homers in win
Brandon Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Guardians on Sunday.

Advice: The home run was Lowe’s ninth of the season to go along with 27 RBI in 49 games this season. He has now started five straight games for the Rays, including one against a left-handed pitcher. The 30-year-old hits second or third every time he plays, and has been a solid source of power and RBI in the past. Now that he’s also hitting .329 in 12 games in July, he should be rostered in most deeper formats. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:57 pm
  • Getting breather Sunday
Arraez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: After rapping out three hits in Saturday's 4-0 win to break out of a 1-for-15 funk over his previous four starts, Arraez will head to the bench for the series finale and the final game before the All-Star break. Jurickson Profar will take over as the Padres' leadoff hitter in place of Arraez, who had started in each of the Friars' last 13 contests. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:57 pm

  • Begins fielding grounders
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Betts (hand) has started to field softly hit groundballs, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Though Betts hasn't yet been cleared for full baseball activities, taking part in fielding work is an indication that he hasn't experienced any setbacks in his recovery from a fractured left hand. The All-Star was given an estimated 6-to-8-week timeline for a return after sustaining the injury in mid-June, and though he still has a ways to go in his rehab, Betts could be ready to come off the 10-day injured list in early August. Betts has seen the majority of his starts at shortstop this season, though the Dodgers could look to deploy him mainly at second base upon his return. Miguel Rojas has excelled as Betts' primary replacement at shortstop and could be deserving of a full-time role upon Betts' return, while second baseman Gavin Lux entered Sunday's game against the Tigers sporting a lowly .565 OPS on the season. • Hitting bench Sunday
Palacios is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: The Guardians are bringing a righty (Ben Lively) to the hill for the final contest before the All-Star break, but the lefty-hitting Palacios will hit the bench nonetheless after starting in the first two games of the series. With Palacios taking a seat, Amed Rosario will pick up a start at second base. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:19 am

  • Arraez not in Sunday’s lineup vs. Braves
Luis Arraez is not in Sunday’s lineup against the Braves.

Advice: He’ll take a seat against left-hander Chris Sale. Jake Cronenworth will play first base and Donovan Solano will serve as the DH as the Padres go with a righty-heavy lineup. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:18 am

  • Betts (hand) begins taking groundballs
Mookie Betts (hand) has begun taking “soft” groundballs, according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Advice: Betts had only been doing “shadow work” until now, but this is a small step in the right direction. The former MVP broke his left hand on a hit-by-pitch about a month ago, but didn’t require surgery and will progress as his comfort allows. The exact timeline isn’t yet clear, but the Dodgers expect him to be a contributor at some point in the second half. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:05 am

  • Getting run out of leadoff spot
Frazier will start at third base and bat leadoff in Sunday's game in Boston.

Advice: Though he'll stick in the lineup for the fifth time in six games as the Royals' leadoff man, Frazier doesn't yet look to be a fixture in the Kansas City starting nine. He's turned in a .235 on-base percentage in his previous four turns atop the lineup, and he's also made starts at four different positions (third base, second base, right field and designated hitter) during that stretch. Instead, Frazier's inclusion in the lineup appears to be a means of Royals manager Matt Quatraro giving rest days to regulars such as Maikel Garcia, who will take a seat Sunday in the series finale. • Hitting bench Sunday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: After starting in six of the Royals' last seven contests, Garcia will get a breather Sunday in the club's final game before the All-Star break. Utility man Adam Frazier will enter the lineup in Garcia's stead, occupying third base and batting leadoff. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:41 am
