    Marlins claimed RHP Darren McCaughan off waivers from the Marlins.

  • Picks up fourth save
    Green notched a save against the Mariners on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two batters over 1.1 innings.

    Advice: Green was deployed with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning and struck out Cal Raleigh to preserve a two-run Toronto lead. He returned in the ninth frame and worked around a one-out solo shot by Luke Raley to nail down the save. Green has two saves over the past four days and has allowed just three earned runs -- all on solo homers -- over 21 innings since the start of April.     Clase walked one and struck out none over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Giants.

    Chad Green allowed a run over 1 1/3 innings to get a save Saturday against the Mariners.

    Advice: Green came on to get the final out of the eighth while striking out notorious Blue Jay killer Cal Raleigh. He did allow a solo homer to Luke Raley, but it came with a 5-3 lead. Green has now saved four games, and he should remain the closer in full until Yimi Garcia (elbow) returns. He may keep that role even after Garcia is back if he keeps pitching well.   • Clase picks up AL-leading 26th save vs. Giants
    Emmanuel Clase pitched a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Giants on Saturday.

    Advice: The save was Clase’s 26th of the year. With another scoreless appearance, his ERA is down to 0.65. Only Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals has more saves than Clase does this year. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:56 pm

    Javier Assad (forearm) threw a bullpen session on Friday.

    Advice: Assad landed on the injured list last week with a right forearm strain, so it’s an extremely encouraging sign that he came out of Friday’s side session without any issues.   • Collects eighth save
    Kopech gave up a run on two hits and a walk over 1.1 innings Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Marlins. He struck out one.

    Advice: With two on and two outs in the ninth inning, Kopech gave up an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz, but he then got Josh Bell to ground out to escape the jam. Kopech isn't exactly locked in right now, stumbling to a 6.91 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over his last 14.1 innings while blowing three of six save chances, but the White Sox seem content to deploy him at the team's closer for now, perhaps in an effort to increase his trade value.     Jansen gave up a hit in a scoreless 10th inning Friday to record his 17th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Yankees.

    Advice: The veteran closer is on an impressive roll. Jansen has been scored upon only once in his last 14 appearances, racking up two wins and 10 saves on 10 chances over that stretch with a 0.61 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 14.2 innings. The 36-year-old isn't as dominant as he was during his Dodgers heyday, but Jansen is still finding ways to be effective and has yet to serve up a home run in 2024.
