• Guardians add Carlos Carrasco to active roster
Guardians selected the contract of RHP Carlos Carrasco from Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: Carrasco will open the season as Cleveland’s fifth starter while Gavin Williams (elbow) is sidelined. The 37-year-old righty pitched well this spring, but doesn’t offer much appeal for fantasy managers at this stage of his career. Rotoworld 2 minutes ago
  • Guardians put Trevor Stephan (elbow) on 60-day IL
Guardians placed RHP Trevor Stephan on the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Stephan underwent right elbow surgery earlier this month and is currently without a timetable to return. The 28-year-old righty was a key contributor to Cleveland’s high-leverage mix over the last few years. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

  • Guardians put Ben Lively (illness) on 15-day IL

  • Guardians put Gavin Williams (elbow) on 15-day IL
Guardians placed RHP Gavin Williams on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 25, with right elbow inflammation.

Advice: As expected, Williams will open the season on the injured list and isn’t expected to start a throwing program until early April. The 24-year-old righty isn’t facing a lengthy absence, but he’s going to require at least a few weeks to build up his pitch count and stamina before making his season debut. • Exits with possible injury
Kepler was removed from Thursday's game against the Royals after fouling a ball off his right leg, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Kepler initially remained in the game to finish his at-bat after getting checked out by trainers, but he was replaced once the Twins took the field in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Twins will take a look at the 31-year-old outfielder and should have more information in the near future. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

Guardians placed RHP James Karinchak on the 60-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

Advice: Karinchak kicked off a throwing program earlier this month, but he’s going to be sidelined until at least late May. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

  • Guardians put Sam Hentges (finger) on 15-day IL
Guardians placed LHP Sam Hentges on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 25, with left middle finger inflammation.

Advice: Hentges has been shut down indefinitely to undergo further testing after reporting left middle finger soreness earlier this month. It’s unclear how long he’ll be sidelined. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

  • New ace: Burnes strikes out 11 in win over Angels
Corbin Burnes dominated in his Orioles’ debut on Thursday, spinning six innings of one-run ball with 11 strikeouts as Baltimore trounced the Angels 11-3 on Opening Day.

Advice: You couldn’t have asked for much more than that. Burnes actually gave up a first-inning homer to Mike Trout, but it turned out to be the only hit he allowed on the day. He also didn’t walk a batter. In fact, Burnes retired the final 16 batters he faced before being pulled at 82 pitches. His 11 strikeouts were the most by an Orioles pitcher on Opening Day since Mike Mussina in 1998. With a pitcher-friendly home stadium and a great lineup backing him, Burnes is poised for a monster season as the O’s new ace. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago
