• Not in Opening Day lineup
Ruiz isn't starting Thursday against the Guardians.

Advice: Ruiz had been losing his grip on a starting job in Oakland's outfield, and the decision to leave him off the Opening Day lineup suggests he may have officially fallen a couple spots on the depth chart. The speedy outfielder may still see a decent amount of playing time in the field to give Seth Brown, JJ Bleday or Lawrence Butler a day off, but a reduced role could bring down the amount of stolen bases he is able to tally over the course of the season. • Exits with possible injury
Kepler was removed from Thursday's game against the Royals after fouling a ball off his right leg, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Kepler initially remained in the game to finish his at-bat after getting checked out by trainers, but he was replaced once the Twins took the field in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Twins will take a look at the 31-year-old outfielder and should have more information in the near future. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

  • Nolan Jones batting third on Opening Day
Nolan Jones is in left field and batting third for Thursday’s Opening Day contest against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: There was some concern for Jones after he suffered a right knee contusion last weekend, but he’s ready to roll as Colorado faces the division-rival Diamondbacks to open the season. Here’s the full lineup: Charlie Blackmon RF, Kris Bryant 1B, Jones LF, Brendan Rodgers 2B, Ryan McMahon 3B, Elias Díaz C, Ezequiel Tovar SS, Elehuris Montero DH and Brenton Doyle CF. • Santander homers, drives in four runs vs. Angels
Anthony Santander homered and knocked in four runs as the Orioles topped the Angels on Opening Day on Thursday.

Advice: Santander drove in a run with a fielder’s choice in the first inning and delivered a sacrifice fly before taking Jose Suarez deep in the fourth to effectively put the game out of reach. Despite hitting 61 homers with 184 RBI over the past two seasons, Santander didn’t get a lot of respect in fantasy drafts this spring. With this potent Orioles’ lineup, he should remain plenty productive. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Mullins launches three-run HR in Opening Day win
Cedric Mullins launched a three-run homer in Thursday’s drubbing against the Angels on Opening Day.

Advice: The game was already out of reach at the time, but Mullins’ seventh-inning blast turned it into a laugher. Mullins has seen his fantasy stock tumble over the past couple of seasons, partially due to his own performance, but also the Orioles’ lineup also got a lot better. His days of hitting near the top of the lineup are over, but he should still do enough in counting stats to be a useful part of most fantasy rosters. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago

  • Rutschman notches two hits, two RBI in win
Adley Rutschman went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in Thursday’s Opening Day win over the Angels.

Advice: He drove in a pair with a single in the second inning. Rutschman also drew a walk, so he reached base three times on the afternoon. The 26-year-old is the No. 1 fantasy catcher at this point and he might very well find himself squarely in the AL MVP conversation after finishing ninth in the balloting last year. • Trout homers, Angels get blown out by Orioles
Mike Trout slugged a solo homer in his first at-bat as part of a lopsided Opening Day loss to the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: We’re used to this by now. At the very least, it’s good to see Trout healthy and doing his thing. On the other hand, it will be depressing to see him playing for another 70-something win team. The ball is entirely in his court, but the best-case scenario would see him get off to a great (and healthy) start and the Angels facilitate a trade to a contender of his choosing. He deserves that much. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Cubs put Patrick Wisdom (back) on 10-day IL
Cubs placed 3B Patrick Wisdom on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to March 25, with a back strain.

Advice: Wisdom will open the season on the injured list after dealing with a back injury throughout spring training. He figures to be ready for his season debut at some point in April. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Ian Happ (hamstring) in Opening Day lineup
Ian Happ (hamstring) is in left field and leading off for Thursday’s Opening Day showdown against the Rangers.

Advice: There were some questions whether Happ would be ready for Opening Day after dealing with a lingering left hamstring strain throughout spring training, but he’s ready. Here’s the full lineup that will face Rangers ace Nathan Eovaldi on Thursday evening: Happ LF, Seiya Suzuki RF, Cody Bellinger CF, Christopher Morel DH, Dansby Swanson SS, Michael Busch 1B, Nico Hoerner 2B, Nick Madrigal 3B and Yan Gomes C.
